I feel like all of this is fairly obvious, if Valve fixed this stuff they would've said so
To have an entire class plagued by bugs that not only affect you but also other players should not have to go for years without even comments on fixing them.
I think my biggest problem with the rebalances is it seems like Valve decided which weapons to change by throwing darts at a dart board.
For an update that was supposed to cater to the competitive community, it strikes me as odd that they didn't touch weapons like the Vita-Saw which are notoriously overcentralizing in a comp environment, and instead opted to mess with weapons like the Righteous Bison which was practically unanimously considered to be fine.
Bottom line is IMO they missed the mark hard with these rebalances.
The biggest problem I have with casual mode is that Valve didn't spoonfeed information on what exactly casual mode is to people. Like, there's a shit ton of people that still think that casual is quickplay.
Comp says I don't have a phone number linked to my account, but I have had a number linked for about 6 months. Can anyone help me?
Who's ready to wait another 6 months before they fix another weapon that isn't broken or underpowered
A full six months before the next issue of the comic (and that's being generously optimistic at this point).
Here's the issue with the "Community servers being re-born' concept. Everyone has this amazing fantasy that there's going to be a Community server on rotation, full of players talking about the game, 100% community. That's the case with valve's older source games, like Day of Defeat or CS:Source. But with TF2, the game isn't as niche, it has a wide audience. So the vast majority of servers are trade servers, Cp_orange with crits, and a ton of empty Valve servers. This far outnumbers the few good community servers, so it's impossible to find them in the Legacy browser. I've played this game for 3 years and only found one good professional community server with rotation, no plugins, and a active playerbase (Crits and Sandvich) Some day TF2 will be but a small few community servers, but it's so popular right now there's too many official servers, trade servers, deathrun, Saxton Hale gamemode, and clutter to find a populated server. They exist, but for the most part they will be empty. It's too much of a hassle for the average player, so no one is going to go in them.
the fizzle sound on an energy kill is really loud.
I imagine this will make some ears bleed in MvM...

they well fix all of the bugs when the teampyro wins.
they well fix all of the bugs when the teampyro wins.
Watch the winning team just get a handful of weapons and a weird base change.
When can we ring the no-update bell for today?
It would be weird not having one after an update this big, especially because of the size of complaints about the quickplay thing.
I'm not sure if people want to wait 45min for a match during the weekend..
hope they revert medigun changes and spy speed. anything else i can live with.
Minigun, yes, but Spy speed was sorely necessary to make him more viable.
Up until now, a Spy's movement speed has been below that of a Medic (meaning a Medic running in a straight line can never be caught up with) and right at that of a Pyro (which, in a chase + flamethrower, mean you have no real chance of getting away).
The movement speed buff was slight, but it made getting stabs on moving targets a lot easier, since none of them move unreasonably faster than you do now. To make up for this buff, Medic has his own movement speed buff- which I expect many of them to make usage of versus hungry Spies and bombing Soldiers.
This is good for pacing and good for what's one of the weakest classes in the game, trust me. I play other classes a lot too- Soldier, Demo and Scout, mainly- so I'd like to think I have a pretty good sense of balancing.
The first non-Spy class I played was Heavy, actually. Heavy taught me to branch out, which I sorely needed to do. Seeing him get nerfed into oblivion made me stop playing him, though, so I hope the Heavy Update will revert the Love n War nerfs and give us something good. : (
Has anyone seen a domination happen after the update? I haven't seen one all day.

You're implying those gimmick servers didn't exist before quick play
Has anyone seen a domination happen after the update? I haven't seen one all day.
they still happen, gotten a few and seen a few on me
also, are those summary_callout voice lines saved for the times where Comp decides to award you with medals?

i actually agree with your points, but at the end of the day, it will greatly increase the likelihood of facestabs. and that's all that matters.
You're implying those gimmick servers didn't exist before quick play
Yeah but a lot of good servers existed before quick play too. Now they don't. Quick play resulted in a lot of servers dying off, now that quick play is gone there isn't anything to fill the void. There might be eventually, but that's optimistic at best seeing as the server browser is so far from user friendly and most brand new player are going to go into casual rather than the browser, like they went directly into quick play rather than the browser after it was brought in.
As a Pyro "main" I shall say. I'd gladly take ability to dry (wet, jarate and madmilk effects) my teammates with Airblast instead of ability of pushing classes back, as fun this sometimes is.
Also Back Burner is perfect, as it rewards for ambushing, flanking enemies (50 fuel cost of air blas isnt alot since you can quickly collect more) . I want more weapons like it =]
Honestly fixing the problems of the update other than balance is really simple.
●Remove the casual queue
●Add valve pubs back
●Keep the badge system and when autobalancing take them into consideration
●Make it so competitive unlocks at a certain profile level
●Remove random crits from valve pubs
i actually agree with your points, but at the end of the day, it will greatly increase the likelihood of facestabs. and that's all that matters.
Facestabs are a non-issue. Don't engage a Spy in melee combat- it's common sense.
Of course, for legitimate "I could see him but he still got a stab on me" situations, latency comes into play. That's not really something that can be fixed without an update to TF2's netcode.
Reducing the backstab angle (180 degrees on your back half) was attempted once, but it made backstabs as a whole nigh impossible. Weapons like the Backburner can have a more narrow angle, because they're firing particles and not hitscan. In fact, they need to have that narrow angle to prevent flaming from the front to cause critical damage, because flame particles are the dumbest thing in this entire video game.
I will be fine with the entire "competitive casual" 12v12 thing if they bring back the old quickplay screen where I could choose a server to go on.
I do not feel like spending 30 minutes to have my way to fucking Upward on DUBAI, please.

yeah that's like saying don't let scouts outrun you.

He says "Dont startle the dogs so they wont bite you" and you respond with "Yeah thats like saying don't let birds fly".
Use the server browser and the filters.
I do not feel like playing on community servers with a buncha mods tricking peeps with their filters.
I guess I can play on Skial EU servers, consdiering you can get rid of the logo :V
Scouts can easily counter soldiers wtf are you talking about
Sure in a wide open area and only there.
Any place else Soldier kills scout.
The match up is 50:50 at best, and Scout at a disadvantage every other time.
The voting breaks my Heavy heart.
What the fuck was Valve thinking when they made it so that people who would leave wouldn't get replaced by people actually trying to join games?
They should of kept quickplay and made MM an optional.
I personally see no massive buff with the increased default spy speed since most spies don't disguise as medic/scout. So, Its 100% most of the time.
And i would love to point out that:
- Disguising as a medic sucks because no one plays medic in pubs.
- Disguising as a scout is way off and very noticeable.
Did they change how abandoning works in MvM? I just failed a wave in mann up, and when I wanted to disconnect, it was still giving me that abandoning message with that orange door logo.

Its almost like these balances changes had no thought behind them and spy was just given some tacked on stats so he wasn't forgotten.
I mean seriously the enforcer is supposed to be the anti vaccinator
