I wonder if Valve would let us know if the update was delayed or not, after the update
I wonder if Valve would let us know if the update was delayed or not, after the update
Like we would need confirmation to know the update was delayed.
It's not info at all to speculate on, it's literally just "soon", which we have been told for the past month.
Oh great :suicide:
Just though it was worth noticing
I know venders had some of the older stuff at MAGFest in DC/Maryland last time I went to that, but I don't think they were WeLoveFine/Valve opperated, just a vender that just had the items in particular.
I've seen the Balloonicorn blow up at several conventions before as well being sold.
I'd die to get an Atomizer.
Like we would need confirmation to know the update was delayed.
I wouldn't normally expect a bug to delay an update too long
Unless it was several, or something that would redefine that entire update
I'm pretty sure B4nny himself has no idea when it's coming :V

Again http://valve.game-legends.com/toys-und-collectibles/team-fortress/2441/baseball-bat-the-atomizer-red-bonk You can buy one there.
Don't get mad at people like slin and b4nny for saying it's "soon". Get annoyed at the people stupid enough to ask them. We're all aware valve wants it out ASAP, they just want it out with as minimal kinks as possible too. they're telling people soon so everyone knows that.
It's more than reasonable valve wanted the update out a week ago, but circumstances lead to pushbacks, and pushbacks lead to reschedules, and reschedules lead to more time to work on stuff, which lead to more issues being found/made, which need more time to fix, etc. Eventaully they'll settle for what they have.
I'm pretty sure B4nny himself has no idea when it's coming :V
I agree. At this point I personally think that all streamers are just saying these things to get the raving update-wanters to quiet down. It must get annoying to view a twitter feed or twitch chat of just - "when update?"

Though I wonder if it'll cost more due to it being in euros :v:.
The question is would you want a glitchy update that will cause valve to have to work on tf2 even more and us enjoying it less? Or a update that has a less amount of glitches then other updates that we can enjoy quicker.
Except even the most worked on and planned out updates have completely ridiculous bugs that make no sense as to how they came up

Also the state of release no matter what wouldn't affect the amount of work they put into the update overall right? They either put more time before release or put less time before but a bit more afterwards

It's a lot easier to code something correctly the first time than it is to backtrack and uproot it after the fact and pray that tearing it apart didn't break something else. All the meanwhile these bugs could be inadvertently creating strife for your customer-base or exposing themselves to potentially-damaging exploits, which forces them to try to repair them in haste which leaves opportunity for mistakes to be made in the act of fixing mistakes.
Realistically speaking, post-release patching is a lot more prone to creating further mistakes. But speaking practically, some bugs are so out of the way that you kind of need a wide tester base to catch them on fringe setups or in special cases that they wouldn't otherwise think of.
Kind of a nasty catch-22 to be put under.

there is a gap of months between major content updates. or even years, given what you criteria for a major update is.
Nor time, money or human resources are something they lack. knowing how things work at Valve, one can only asume the only thing that prevents more content from being developed for the game (other than stuff provided from the comunity) are the devs themselves not "feeling like doing something".
hell, you could argue the community updates, gimped and poorly managed as they seem to be manage to gather and develop more content in a shorter time period - and they could even get us more if valve let comunity devs take an even more active role and gave them proper tools to work with.

This is insultingly off-base.
Valve work hard as hell. They're not a huge team. I know at least Jill has been working the past 3-4 weekends. They can't do everything at once.
Where's the con at :v:?
I bought it at the Welovefine booth at Wondercon 2016, back in March. Welovefine's booth at cons now actually has a "Valve Store" attached to it (It's a side of their store booth that is all black with a Valve logo and is loaded with Valve merch.)

They make tons of money on this game, if they need a bigger team to get things done, maybe they should get a bigger team.

For a company of their size you'd think they could afford a few more employees to manage their games.
Instead they have like one writer and one artist who are supposed to do the comic series yet somehow keep getting assigned to projects for DOTA 2 or VR instead.
Hell, Adult Swim even cancelled the plans for a TF2 series because the team was so bloody slow making that 15 minute short.

When you consider Valve has like what, 300 employees that they have to juggle that between TF2, DOTA 2, CS:GO, Steam, VR, and god knows what else...
imo for a 9 year old game they're giving it a hell of a lot of attention
I'm being impatient, too, but you honestly have to kind of consider how meaningful this update is. This update is supposed to bring Gun Mettle sized balance changes (possibly more) and is finally going to bring TF2 into a modern era with competitive matchmaking. On top of that, almost everyone expects a noticeable performance increase, and let me tell you: working on a nearly 9-year-old game's engine, especially one as modified as TF2's, is not easy.
If they release the update ahead of time because we're desperate for it, it might be unpolished. It might come with a game-breaking bug they didn't catch in time, or maybe MM will be utterly broken and unplayable. Would you rather just wait an extra 3-4 days, or have the update right in front of you, but unable to be played?

I believe that "team" consists of just 2 people, or at least at the time
I believe that "team" consists of just 2 people, at least at the time
Maybe they'll hire/allocate more when Tf2 proves itself in the modern era
I believe that "team" consists of just 2 people, at least at the time
And who's fault is that? Valve's. I don't accept any kind of small team excuse when talking about a billion dollar company.
I believe that "team" consists of just 2 people, or at least at the time
Literally every single time we get information about the size of the TF2 team it's always AT LEAST 8 people working on it, usually 10-15.
And who's fault is that? Valve's. I don't accept any kind of small team excuse when talking about a billion dollar company.
Considering valve's structure it's nobody's fault, they might have a whole lot of animators, but back then just 2 of them wanted to work on tf2 shorts.
I believe that "team" consists of just 2 people, or at least at the time
B4nny said that the core TF2 team is around 10 people. I'm sure some people will come and help out when needed, for example I doubt the TF2 team has a full time artist but when they're working on a new map or new skins someone will join the team temporarily to make the needed content.
