what i'd like to know is why casual games are suddenly using first to three wins after the last update instead of first to two like they were before no one is going to stick around to play five games in a row of something like 2fort or powerhouse (in fact, maps with really long round times like those two should really be using first to one instead, but that's another story)
2fort uses first to one, I played it earlier. It was still a long match since nobody was actually trying to cap though
several achievements require domination so i think its safe to assume its a glitch
I honestly think dominations shouldn't have existed in the first place All it does is make people focus on killing instead of the objective, on both ends
I honestly think dominations shouldn't have existed in the first place All it does is make people focus on killing instead of the objective, on both ends
Also the demo support features makes me focus on killing In a swiftwater casual match I just killed the entire enemy team (not really hard since it's casual) so I could get that automatic bookmark
I honestly think dominations shouldn't have existed in the first place All it does is make people focus on killing instead of the objective, on both ends
It also makes people really fucking salty and shifts their focus onto focusing this one motherf*cker that's dominating you to get rid of him. Also leaves a lot of place for binds, memes, lennyfaces and shit. It was DESIGNED to make you mad, like taunts - and it works, so I guess it's doing what it's supposed to.
One way of going around it is to remove it in competitive, but leave it in casual.
Or perhaps give people the option to disable it at will. There's really no reason against why we can't have the option to toggle it on or off as apart of our preference...
Does anyone know if the list of whitelisted cvars for competitive avaliable somewhere in the game files in a text format, or is it obfuscated somehow?
I was making some general changes to my tf_english.txt file and found a line referring to players being kicked from MM by the server/system. Not sure what triggers this system kick or if it is even enabled but its an interesting find anyway.
I'd really like to play comp TF2 but I like playing as Pyro, Spy, and Sniper so uhh it's not for me
I'd really like to play comp TF2 but I like playing as Pyro, Spy, and Sniper so uhh it's not for me
Without the UGC meta and weapon bans, and with comp more accessible, if you're good at a given class your team won't complain.
Or perhaps give people the option to disable it at will. It's supposed to be there, it's supposed to piss you off when some random scrub dominates you - motivating you to get better and play better, to give your best, essentially.
Can confirm, dominations have indeed been removed from casual. Which is LAME.
Casual more or less runs with the same settings that Competitive does, with random crits/bullet spread on. I guess that's why.
Why hasn't valve restricted using "say" in console yet, especially when binding them? I can tell you right now pubs and tf2 as a whole would be so much less toxic without them, especially people who use lenny faces
Why hasn't valve restricted using "say" in console yet, especially when binding them? Easy one I can think of off the top of my head is to just use autohotkey to bind a key to open the chat, paste a message, and then hit enter. The only difference is that the game would force their character to lock in place for a few frames as their character cannot move while the chat is opened.
Why hasn't valve restricted using "say" in console yet, especially when binding them?
Why hasn't valve restricted using "say" in console yet, especially when binding them? I can tell you right now pubs and tf2 as a whole would be so much less toxic without them, especially people who use lenny faces
Better approach would be to limit the number of messages that can be sent over a period of time, or a cooldown between repeated messages. Basically what we have with voice commands, server variables and all.
Honestly if I ever make a community server anybody who uses any kind of bind would be instabanned. No exceptions.
Why hasn't valve restricted using "say" in console yet, especially when binding them? I can tell you right now pubs and tf2 as a whole would be so much less toxic without them, especially people who use lenny faces
It'd probably be better if it was behind a server command instead of full-on disabling it, that way community servers can enable it by choice
People will find ways around such impairments.
You're implying people who use lenny binds would have the patience to do such things, when everyone knows people who use them are either 12-14 year old memestars and dickhole redditors
Why hasn't valve restricted using "say" in console yet, especially when binding them? I can tell you right now pubs and tf2 as a whole would be so much less toxic without them, especially people who use lenny faces
I hate the word "toxic" so much, please stop applying it to TF2 as well
Why hasn't valve restricted using "say" in console yet, especially when binding them? I can tell you right now pubs and tf2 as a whole would be so much less toxic without them, especially people who use lenny faces
restricting say might not be the best idea, yeah shitlords abuse it with shitty binds, but I personally use them for trade binds in trade servers. Also most competitive medic mains have binds for Uber % and that they popped. muting / blocking people also helps
I hate the word "toxic" so much, please stop applying it to TF2 as well
Would you prefer "noxious?"
I hate the word "toxic" so much, please stop applying it to TF2 as well
What other word would you want someone to use? It seems a pretty apt term for rude assholes who thrive on being annoying.
I hate the word "toxic" so much, please stop applying it to TF2 as well
It's better that cancerous
I hate the word "toxic" so much, please stop applying it to TF2 as well
He's not wrong. More bad than good comes from the ability to bind phrases.
He's not wrong. More bad than good comes from the ability to bind phrases.
The only time I've ever seen a "good" bind is when a Medic has a bind to say when they've used their Uber. It's not even that useful, an Uber's loud enough for everyone within its effective range to hear it.
This would negate the point of implementing it now, wouldn't it? Also, if anything... It distracts you from what's important in the match as well. A lot of people will start going out of their way now to do something that may not even benefit them or their team just to get rid of the domination line.
Why hasn't valve restricted using "say" in console yet, especially when binding them? I can tell you right now pubs and tf2 as a whole would be so much less toxic without them, especially people who use lenny faces
If anything, I'd hope they'd not restrict say entirely... I still like to wish everyone a Good match and to Have fun at the start, as well saying complimentary things like "Fun game so far" and "GG" at the end of matches. It's been a thing I've been doing since the days of Quake, and I'd rather not change it now. I also like to give pointers occasionally. I've told enemy spies things like "you decloak too close to people and I was able to hear it" as well. I like actively giving advice from time to time when I can because it's also something I was accustomed to doing back in the days of Quake and QuakeWorld Team Fortress. Back when people actively did help one another out. Then there's complimenting people when they do awesome stuff in game. I would like to see Binding things in "say" and special characters ( such as the ones used for Lenny's face ) to be removed from the game though.

Is there something you're not telling us?
But you only see the icon if they're dominating you. Is there something you're not telling us?
Maybe I'm thinking of the noise and the identifiers ( like in the TAB screen ). I just sort of tuned it out and probably forgot... I just find it over all to be obnoxious. I don't care if someone is dominating me or if I'm dominating them and would rather just not see them entirely... If I'm playing medic and someone is dominating me, should I just suddenly go all out battle medic to try and remove it or tell my patient to stop focusing on what's important to kill that sniper in the back?
