The queue times for casual are already kinda long as it is.
I cant imagine how much worse it'll be if you're looking for a specific map
Maybe it'll just search for a map already being played instead of trying to start a new game on one. Would that make it any faster? I have no clue about these things.
I wonder who's smart idea in the TF Team was it to remove the Vote System from Casual Matchmaking.

Someone who probably wanted to avoid people vote kicking for no reason. As much as the vote system is needed it is also extremely abused and has caused many annoyances. I understand why valve scrapped it but kind of wish they didn't

Well I mean i can understand people abusing it due to being assholes, but due to it being removed more and more hackers are in Casual Servers.
to avoid hacking they should just put people without phones in to low priority or something
to avoid hacking they should just put people without phones in to low priority or something
Thats a huge turn-off for new players who don't have the app yet. And the entire goal of moving TF2 into the e-sport arena is to get new players.
there's something interesting, did you notice how PC Gamer, kotaku, IGN and others mention overwatch in like every post that it's quite obvious blizzard paid them?, well I'm starting to notice the same with TF2 on PC Gamer

PC Gamer (and RockPaperShotgun) have always been close with Valve's side for any update or game. They even have promos.

Yeah I know about it, but I can see an increase

Overwatch is an insanely hot topic right now.
They're probably just throwing that word in there so it appears in search engines.
The queue times for casual are already kinda long as it is.

I'm guessing they'll let you select multiple maps to decrease you queue times, but yeah I hate to say it but until TF2's player base increases either not selecting a map or having some kind of map vote system would probably be better.
Why can't they just remove Stopwatch from Payload? There's no reason to have it at all. It just makes the game indefinitely harder if you get rolled by BLU as RED. I spent so long in a match that I leveled up twice in a single game. That's fucking stupid.
I-I just don't understand why Valve thought this update was going to help TF2. If anything this is going to kill the game.
I tried playing one round of Casual Payload and was beyond confused. The stopwatch thing isn't explained in-detail and baffles me still.
I think a lot of the problem lies in how Valve only wanted to reuse the competitive gameplay format for casual without thinking too long on how omissions that would make sense for a competitive game (third person, vote kicking, etc) would not make as much sense in a casual game. Being able to leave without penalty is great news, but I think in terms of actual gameplay for casual matches, they should have considered making some adaptions instead of mostly reusing the matchmaking format.

It's more likely that the reason why casual is so similar to competitive is to get people used to the competitive style. It's good for new players because the game seem more streamlined, instead of payload casual style and payload competitive style we just have payload.

Because then there's no winners or losers?

it's not all that complicated, though
both teams get a turn to attack and defend, and whichever team does a better job overall (by capturing more points on offense, and holding more points on defense) wins the match

Red captured x points in just *time*, if blu captures faster or bla bla bla, you should have not pressed F1 that fast
So I just got back from vacation and am loving the update as a proud team heavy supporter! So glad it finally came out!
But anyway, this is the reason I am on team heavy.
He has no fun extra weapons besides stock and maybe tomislav, and more importantly....HE HAS SHITTY HATS!
I know this doesnt matter to some people, but I play my heavy a lot and despite spending lots of money and trading I can never find a good loadout for him.
Like seriously check out his hats on the store and market, it aint pretty.
Most are all class and there are only 2 sets that are complete for him.
No matter how hard ive tried in my 1000 hours of tf2, the coolest my heavy has ever looked was as default.
Also the only viable weapons are his stock and tomislav.
Its a shame because his lore and character are great and he is fun as fuck to play but he definitley needs a facelift. I mean so does pyro but I want to be able to play heavy and feel good. Nobody plays or mains him anymore.

Also I keep not being able to connect to tf game coordinator for 4 hours now anyone know why? Also item servers appear to be down.
Anyway sorry for long post, I just got back and wanted to share my thoughts.
Great update though! :goodjob:
Stopwatch mode is pretty nice, helps prevent insanely long tedious games. as much as I love the game, those kind of matches lose their novelty fast esp in casual
When the Pyro/Heavy get new weapons what weapons do you think they'll get?
When the Pyro/Heavy get new weapons what weapons do you think they'll get?
I cant think of anything that crazy for pyro, maybe the afterburner...
I hope to god heavy gets that chainsaw, even though its impractical its awesome.
There is a great beer barrel minigun concept out there I know.
Heres some other great heavy concepts:

i really miss the old quickplay
I don't know how they did it but the Bison straight up doesn't work in tr_walkway, the beams disappear as soon as they reach the bot lane
vv Enter "sv_allow_point_servercommand always" into the console and restart the server

tr_walkway itself doesn't work either.
tr_walkway itself doesn't work either.
The author of walkway announced about a year ago they were working on a new version of the map: http://tf2maps.net/threads/so-im-resurrecting-walkway.24914/
There hasn't been any updates on it though so who knows if it will actually happen.
If it does Valve needs to buy it and make it an official training map.

I queue for CP, CTF and PL and I find it only takes a minute, sometimes slightly more.
Which is a far cry from the 5 seconds Quickplay used to take, but it's not nearly the 10 minute wait Dota 2 has.
I wish it were a lot faster though. Hopefully they as a quasi-quickplay menu where they show you open games and you can join them directly instead of wasting coordinator resources searching for you.
Stopwatch mode for Payload and attack/defense is great, people just aren't used to it. It makes sense both as a scoring mechanism and a way to prevent matches of maps like Thunder Mountain and Dustbowl from lasting for hours.
