I hope that's paint on the soldier in the leaked image.

oh my god imagine if they didn't do spy vs engi because of this stupid meme
It was 2:30AM and I was just deciding to go to bed when I checked this thread and the video had been posted 2 minutes before I checked in... Damn it.
New Quickplay looks extremely dreary. I'm guessing the new casual/pub system means you can't connect to any Valve servers using ad-hoc connections (through console or server browser) at all anymore, so that conveniently leaves community servers alone in the server browser as a "legacy" component to be shelved away. Just like CS:GO.
Even if community servers are allowed in this new Quickplay, how will they be able to fill up 24 players on a consistent basis compared to Valve servers? It's a pretty optimistic goal. I also doubt we'll see workshop maps in Quickplay either. More and more I'm realizing the map workshop was basically just a tool for Valve to add maps to the game, not really used by community servers at all.
I will also miss the ability to join any game in-progress, like a friend's for example.

We're an hour in and there's already leaks, sick
You are giving Steam your credit card info, address, city, zip code, and more every single time you add money to your Steam wallet. And even your Social Security number if you want to sell over 200 items on the market per year. So if you are concerned with giving Steam your phone number, then you should be concerned about using Steam in the first place.
You actually don't have to give Valve any of that info. Steam cards and paypal (and also bitcoin I think) are options too.

heavy destroys pyro, this is kinda one-sided
Feel like they are trying to turn this into a cartoon CS:GO with casual mode. Seems to be so familiar compared to their casual mode. I think quickplay is fine as it is.
heavy destroys pyro, this is kinda one-sided
An unsuspecting Heavy can easily be taken on by a Pyro. Sometimes a skilled enough (or suicidal enough) Pyro can take a Heavy head on and win.

If this actually is the case this could be a big help for community servers. Could. Let's just hope it IS like that.
heavy destroys pyro, this is kinda one-sided
The pyro can destroy the heavy if hes at far range and is spamming flares.
A lot of people are missing the fact that quickplay will not affect the community servers, in fact it'll be good for them because you probably won't be able to goof around in valve servers anymore when the update hits so people will resort to community servers.
The people who used community servers will still use them and the people who didn't will still not use them. This isn't going to change anything.
Community servers are partially fueled by new players discovering them randomly. I play on a community server a few times a week, and as recent as yesterday there was someone who got in through Quickplay going "oh hey this is a server with actual skilled people and custom maps" who came back today. You're killing off that source of new players, which you need.

Whatever it is it better be checked by default. Or we will still be stuck with the same issues since 2014.

The problem is a lot of new players don't know they exist :/
My guess is that there is now 3 ways to play online similar to CS:GO:
Ranked Competitive (6v6 locked) on valve servers
Casual (12v12 24 player mayhem we currently have) on valve servers
Legacy Server Browser (similar to CS:GO and Garry's Mod) to join community servers
With TF2 having had community servers from the beginning unlike CS:GO which only had quickplay at the beginning, community servers are probably not going to die out but people like me who only used the server browser will have a reason to use quickplay (only way to play on valve servers).
i don't like how quickplay works right now
feels like people join and leave too quickly so faster a while the server just kind of empties out

I never save my credit card info into anything ever and you'd really have to be dumb to do that. And if they are saving this kind of info without my consent then the problem lies elsewhere.
The reason behind using a phone number with your account helps player accountability is that in order to play again you have to use a new phone number, which is not cheap to get. (as everyone associated with that phone number is banned if one is VAC'd.) I suspect 10$, being discounted, is not the final price. Instead, the final price is 15$.. same price CS:GO players have to play in order to cheat in competitive. Or use a phone number and have to pay decidedly more than 15 to get a new phone number.
I suppose that makes sense. didn't think of it that way. There's a number of ways to bypass the system but a regular player would think twice before getting his number banned.

That's basically what current quickplay is and our server counts have basically plummeted to nothing since they implemented that. This probably won't change much.

Hey guys guys you know you can go into quickplay and options and make it go to community servers right?

This sounds like the best bet. I dont really mind as long as it doesnt kill long standing modes like MGE
When pyro mains send their people, they aren't sending their best.

More balnaced than spy vs engi
Probably a shotgun of some sort then unless it's a brand new weapon type.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't CS:GO casual match you into in-progress games?
Wasn't there mentions in the code of Heavy vs Pyro? Like, from way back. I vaguely remember people wondering why that was even a thing since we were on the Spy vs Engi speculation.
If that's true they really may be going for WAR updates to every character.
