When the update comes out, is there going to be a separate thread for discussion or will this one still be used?
While there will probably be a new one and we really should use that to discuss it, inevitably people post about it in here anyway. So both, sorta.
Major Update Speculation: Meat or Match Edition
Oh boy, what's Delfy's next exploit for this update?
Leaving the map, going underground, throwing the ball into the skybox, sniping through ground, mostly stuff like that
Leaving the map, going underground, throwing the ball into the skybox, sniping through ground, mostly stuff like that
I think that was a rhetorical question.
What if one of the Taunts is a "It's not Unusual" Gesture?
One thing I really hope they've added to competitive since the beta: Powerhouse. AKA my favourite TF2 map. Please, Valve - you made such a good map, don't just throw it away!
Dude, I would play Powerhouse all day long. I remember when Gun Mettle first came out and my friends and I would have a makeshift LAN just playing Powerhouse because we loved it so much. I really do hope they add it into the MM map pool.

too bad it's infested with engi glitches
I've experienced the very opposite, powerhouse last is very hard to push into. The spawn is effectively between mid and last, so you have to kill their entire team, then continue to kill them as they respawn just to get to last.
An aggressive engineer pushing up once you gain mid is the biggest thing you need to make attacking last successful. It just takes too long to move up without an engineer, which is needed to keep putting pressure on the enemy team to take last. I also thought Power house was a great map too BTW... I would change things yes, but over all I enjoyed playing the map.

It made playing on that map worth it.
Powerhouse is only a stalemate when you're up against seven engineers on last and no teleporter on your team. Then again, that can be said with about half the maps in the game.
There's 4 kinds of badge-like emblems being shown off under the Casual Mode blurt on the MyM update page. I wonder if we'll get a High Lander-eque badge that'll unlock more styles the higher our Casual Rank is?
Oh boy, what's Delfy's next exploit for this update?
Imagine Delfy posting like a shit load of exploits in his channel because of this new update.:ohno:
[t]http://i.imgur.com/93sN0se.png[/t] [t]http://i.imgur.com/P2eFwGR.png[/t] Hm. Some lovely and subtle passive aggression from the TF2 team, right there.

It would be kinda neat, though.
The name of this thread is very fitting. (User was banned for this post ("Not contributing to thread" - UncleJimmema))
Hopefully with the addition of these badges we'll be able to customize the badge or token that we can display next to our names on the scoreboard or when someone is spectating you. Gaben knows how many badges I have sitting around in my inventory that are barely visible on my characters.
Oh boy, what's Delfy's next exploit for this update?
I think Valve makes sure to tell Delfy and other exploiters that if they're going to exploit something, do outside of a ranked comp match. Otherwise, people would unfairly lose comp points from it. And if they were to do so, it would be a bannable offense (not permanent unless offense is repeated). OR if it's a prematch exploit, I'm sure Valve hired ethical exploiters beforehand.

Valve needs to be on their bugfixing A-game in the weeks following this update.
I wouldn't mind a system where levelling up in either comp or quickplay gave you an extra random drop each time you levelled up. You'd get in increased rate of metal gain for winning games, with an occasional cosmetic drop. The issue would be that it would devalue metal further. I think the best way to maintain metal value would be to also frequently do things like the bread box, where new items could be gained in exchange for metal. That was a great system that I think would've benefited the economy. Unfortunately it would have required a constant flow of new content such as skins or hats or something that Valve would effectively have to make a lot of content themselves and give it away for free with no direct monetary benefit to themselves, or item makers, making it expensive in terms of manhours and not profitable, at least directly.
What if each 10 (maybe less depending how many levels are there) you get a free key?
What if each 10 (maybe less depending how many levels are there) you get a free key?
That would be horrible the economy, keys only have their value because the only way for them to enter the economy is a $2.50 purchase. Key value is tied to the USD. Many other items have value due to only being able to be obtained through keys. You couldn't do anything worse for the economy then giving people a source of keys that isn't a Mann Co. purchase.
What we need is a constant metal sink that isn't just 3 metal for hats you can get for 1.33, or bread box or any of those things. We need something like "20 refined for a 1% chance that the random craft hat you make will be unusual", etc
Bread Box and the chem sets were good metal sinks tho.
What if with 10 ref you could make a key. That'll make the key price drop and hopefully fix the economy.
the problem isnt that keys are too expensive, it's that ref is worthless.
Bread Box and the chem sets were good metal sinks tho.
Chem Sets would've been better if they actually dropped frequently and not once in a blue moon
What if with 10 ref you could make a key. That'll make the key price drop and hopefully fix the economy.
The issue is that by playing a game you make real world (or at least Steam Wallet) money. Even if its far far less than the amount you would make working minimum wage its never in the interest of a company to let this happen because then people sink less real world money into your game economy.
Why would anyone buy keys if you could craft them? They literally exist as a means of income on TF2.
Would it be reasonable if they allow people to craft hats/weapons with a rare chance of receiving a special item? Something that is super rare to craft, like the original Golden Wrenches or similar? Might put some actual value in metal, at least for a good while if they make the chances of getting one rare enough. It'd give a potential reason and interest to craft items and metal again, which in return would also mean metal would be disappearing out of peoples backpacks in return.
