And you will receive it. I don't understand why it's such an issue that information is released with the update rather than a few hours prior. It's not like they'd change anything within that timeframe based on community response in such a small window of feedback.
Because the patch notes are what I actually want. The most exciting part of any update for me is to actually see how the game has changed, and past major updates have been fine with giving us patch notes to hype over until the patch hits. Instead, the day 2 post just had me repeatedly checking the page every 20 minutes or so, and being disappointed as shit each time. Any hype or excitement I've had for the update to hit has been replaced with feelings of frustration and disappointment. I get the idea- hey, you get the patch notes when the update hits. We gotta leave something to keep you enticed. No! No you don't! You've been doing the taunting and teasing for a fucking month! Longer if you count the non-Jill input!

It's not like they'd change anything within that timeframe based on community response in such a small window of feedback. We all want to see the changes. I'd like to see them early too. But i'm not going to pitch a fit because they aren't releasing it yet, because it doesn't matter. If they aren't releasing patch notes yet it's probably because they're still reviewing them all.
It's pretty counter-intuitive to commit to a multi-day update, then releasing the final day half finished. The whole point of multi-day updates is to hype up the community and get them talking about the game. As you can see we're pretty much out of stuff to talk about given that day 1 was lackluster and day 2 only has half the stuff in it.
Patch notes always came right when the update hits. This isn't new.
I wake up to day 2 and I still have time to eat breakfast and take a crap before I have to start farming points for my side. Seems like a pretty good deal to me.
For polling purposes: AGREE if you want the PYRO to win. DISAGREE if you want the HEAVY to win.

If day 1 was the whole update, THAT would be lackluster.
Patch notes always came right when the update hits. This isn't new.
Yes. And sometimes on rare occasions for very small updates the notes come a few minutes after.
Patch notes always came right when the update hits. This isn't new.
They were on the update page for both Gun Mettle and Tough Break, though.
I'm still salty that Asteroid and Cactus Canyon are stuck in limbo until Valve decides what the hell they're going to do with them. Are they still in the map rotation/quickplay?
Patch notes always came right when the update hits. This isn't new.
Gun Mettle and Tough Break had the (majority) of the notes in the update page itself. So why the change here? Needing 4 hours to finalize some patch notes. Holy shit.
-REDACTED-

Holy shit.
Maybe they need to make sure they're all correct. There could be more then any other update due to all the re-balancing that appears to be coming.
the last war update had a week of WAR, so there will be a week of [sp]bloody warfare[/sp] democratic discussion.
Can I vote late because this is atleast the 3rd time this has been posted
Honestly voting for this kind of things, doesn't even help the thread imo, almost a shit post, ignore them. But anyway, this update means 2 class updates will come after, Pyro, and Heavy Update, we are just going to select which one comes first. Sounds great to me, it's not like the first war, where the last wep was restricted to the winner :)
the last war update had a week of WAR, so there will be a week of [sp]bloody warfare[/sp] democratic discussion.
Probably a lot longer than just a week, to be honest with you. I would appreciate a blog post to update us on the counters every week though.
Still seems like there is a lot on the line. Who ever loses might not get their update till next year. While both classes need a rebalancing now.
the last war update had a week of WAR, so there will be a week of [sp]bloody warfare[/sp] democratic discussion.
Wait fuck really? One week? That's half the length of the fucking halloween update. I'm going to be gone all next week. That really sucks.

Because patch notes didn't launch immediately with the update? I'm not trying to defend updating the game this much later than the update page leaving the patchnotes unguessable for the entire duration. I think they should have launched the update shortly after the page went up too. But there are people in this thread acting like having to wait an afternoon for the update has absolutely destroyed any excitement they had, "leaving them with feelings of frustration and anger". Seriously? It's not like the patch notes are going to be 3 lines of nothing. It's the most significant part of the update.
If it's a week heavy will win by a long shot.

There are also a lot of people that don't give a shit about comp and just want to see the gameplay changes, you know, like any game update.
honestly is there any valid reason why heavy needs a buff? I can't think of any. This is why I'm siding with pyro-scum.
Yeah, it'll be nice when both pyro and heavy get the gunboats!
Please no x) I think, any secret links on the update pages? I know valve used to do that, and it was great.
Still seems like there is a lot on the line. Who ever loses might not get their update till next year. While both classes need a rebalancing now.
I highly doubt they're going to avoid rebalancing these classes until their own update. There will just be major overhauls/additions when their updates come.
honestly is there any valid reason why heavy needs a buff? I can't think of any. This is why I'm siding with pyro-scum.
He needs a new gun. That's enough for me.

Have some basic patience, christ. Do something besides waiting around browsing MUS.
Needing 4 hours to finalize some patch notes. Holy shit.
Eloquently sums up everything I've been saying. Thank you, Snowshoe. To the inevitable swarm of "Dumb" and "Disagree" posts we're getting in response to criticizing Valve, let me put it this way. To me, on a personal level, this update has been staggered with poorly-timed hype, poorly-managed community communication and now, somehow, even though everything is clearly ready, a staggered release for what's typically considered the meat of any update. The only reason for this- as demonstrated by the literal cool beans on the update page- is to tease us, one last time. I was ready to forget all of the negativity I felt leading up to this, but that was just a twist of the knife. That is not how you reward community investment. That is not how you reward my patience. So, yeah, I'm pretty pissed. And nothing you say is gonna change that. I'm sure I'll love it when it comes, but for now I'm just gonna be angry, because Valve fucked up. I'm pissed about this, and from the looks of it other people with high investment in the game and the update are pissed about it too.
Some guy made a post earlier talking about just calling this update "bigger than the Uber Update" so that the community can finally call something "bigger than the Uber Update". This doesn't come close to the scale of the Uber Update, imo. I'm not talking about the quality of the content in the update here, just the scale.
Uber Update got dethroned by MvM.
