Because "cool beans" in the place of what I actually want- before now, communication, and right now, patch notes- is jack shit. It's nothing. It's the excitement and speculation building up to two update pages that give about half of the actual information and leave the rest to frustrated speculation.
It fucking sucks. If you can't get that, I won't keep trying to explain it, because either you lack the reading comprehension or the perspective to understand why I'd be frustrated after being teased for a month and having an extra bit slid in at the end for no good reason.
I was already done waiting a week ago.
Patience is a virtue my brother
My point is, don't release the final day until your update is actually ready. Common sense.
Yeah, and if they have common sense, like I said before, it will come, slowly but surely.
Yes. But still would be fun to use in tf2 even if it's an unpopular opinion :v:
I actually don't mind slows/stuns as it's just apart of what that class can do, but I can see why a lot of people dislike losing control of their character.
It'd be very fun to use.
But what about playing against it?

oh for fucks sake
"no good reason" you don't think valve has a reason for it? You just think they wanted one last laugh or something?
Yeah. That's what "coming soon" and "cool beans" means after waiting this long.
considering that we are at WAR, Contra123 and Punchy are doing a magnificent job !
To the inevitable swarm of "Dumb" and "Disagree" posts we're getting in response to criticizing Valve, let me put it this way.
To me, on a personal level, this update has been staggered with poorly-timed hype, poorly-managed community communication and now, somehow, even though everything is clearly ready, a staggered release for what's typically considered the meat of any update.
The only reason for this- as demonstrated by the literal cool beans on the update page- is to tease us, one last time. I was ready to forget all of the negativity I felt leading up to this, but that was just a twist of the knife. That is not how you reward community investment. That is not how you reward my patience.
I'm not giving you "Dumb" ratings because you're criticizing Valve. Constructive criticism is the best way to help anything get better.
I'm rating you dumb because you're getting excessively angry about a game not update not going 100% to your standards.
Yes, Valve communication is weak.
Yes, this delayed update page is bizarre and a bit dumb (whether deliberate or not).
Yes, the "cool beans" thing is also a bit dumb (although it could potentially be tied to something we've yet to see),
But Christ-on-a-bike it is NOT the end of the world as we know it.
Feel free to voice irritation or concern, but you're significantly over-blowing this.
All I'm saying it's some pretty sloppy handling by Valve to not have your update pages finalized before you put them out into the public view.
It's possible that this is deliberate.
It's not the best way to go about it, IMO and I do doubt that it is intentional, but it's a possibility.
lmao you're talking like patch notes dont exist and this entire update was a troll
Consider that none of this would be happening if Valve announced the full notes and then released the update in a timely manner, like basically every other update in the past (I can't be assed to find it again, but there's a list of all the blog posts and release times).
Whether you think it's the person's fault for getting upset or not, the late handling of the update is undoubtedly making some customers angry.
Despite criticism I actually think this is one of the best updates Valve has rolled out for TF2 in years. It features everything we asked for: No contracts, no skins, no tiers, Competitive Mode, A full-on War event, Every Strange weapon we could ever ask for, and Passtime and Taunts as a nice bonus. This is everything I wanted out of a TF2 update, and it certainly was worth the weight. Props to Valve for improving the the game and listening to community feedback.
now we don't quite know the entire contents of that crate just yet. what if they dont have strange gunboats??????

You act like they're deliberately teasing you specifically. I can understand why you can get annoyed at it being late but my god you are overreacting.
I really don't get why people complain about this kind of stuff. Its a miracle that Valve is even working on updates for this now free-to-play game, more so considering that the game is almost 10 years old. They don't owe you anything and getting mad when they show they're still supporting this game is laughable. It isn't healthy to get so worked up about something like this.
I'm just playing WWE SuperCard while the update hits. Have a safe update wait everyone <3

You already have the Reserve Shooter if you're the kind of player who depends on literal stunlocks in order to get your optimum damage.
Can we all take a moment to point and laugh? Specifically at how you want something that makes a stunlock even easier to follow up on by removing the whole "gravity" and "shooting back" things that makes compression blast stunlock combos require some capacity for aim and positioning.
funfact while we're waiting
this is the most "liked" (in terms of facebook) update in tf2 history already at 24k likes
in retrospective the next most i could find is australian christmas with also 24k likes
yesterday's was the most liked twitter post too
i am more than just a monkey i am a human bean with feelings
this isnt an ape simulator
i am more than just a monkey i am a human bean with feelings
Don't worry Punchy you're a cool bean
I wonder how many weapons might as well be brand new weapons after the update hits.
Will comp players actually use Minmode Viewmodels or will they just prefer to turn them off entirely still?
Actually we should be worried if the update was released right after the day 2 page was made public, something too perfect hides something imo.
I prefer them taking time to upload and launch this update to make things correctly, than release the update directly and get hundred of reports because players can't launch their games or worse can't download it.
Stun.
Is.
Unfun.
Alternatively- people turning into Spycicle statues when killed with such a weapon would be fine.

How am I overblowing it? i'm just expressing that I'm frustrated. Is that not a thing I'm allowed to do?
It's just words on a screen, man. I absolutely have other shit to do, I work for a living just like anyone else does. I don't get a lot of free time on most days, and I don't like it when that free time is spent on empty teases instead of what I've actually been waiting for.
I set aside today specifically to pore over the patch notes and enjoy the update, and I worked to the fucking bone all of yesterday and the day before to enable that. Yeah, I'm gonna be frustrated when that doesn't work out. I'm not saying it's the end of the world. I even said I'll probably be happy in a few hours, once I actually get to see it.
But I'm also going to voice my displeasure at being forced to wait and being teased, again, when I've already spent the last month doing that.
I wonder how many weapons might as well be brand new weapons after the update hits.
At minimum 3 if I were to guess
I wonder how many weapons might as well be brand new weapons after the update hits.
hopefully the sandman and vitasaw to begin with

New change for airblast. Victim will have their keyboard unplugged and their mouse will have the lowest sensitivity possible.
Will comp players actually use Minmode Viewmodels or will they just prefer to turn them off entirely still?
turning viewmodels off is the best way to play because it's easier to aim
Silly question: why are people so upset over the patch notes not being out yet? Whining about it isn't going to change anything, might as well just go watch a movie or play a game to pass the time while you wait. Finding out what they are the instant they come out doesn't offer much of a benefit compared to finding out half an hour later.
I wonder how many weapons might as well be brand new weapons after the update hits.
I'm really interested in seeing this too. at least 1/6th of existing weapons qualify for complete overhaul, it will be interesting to see what could potentially become the new meta
I wonder how many weapons might as well be brand new weapons after the update hits.
Lets hope the Sun on a Stick is one of those items
There's a lot more underpowered weapons than overpowered at this point.
Again, we should fish up the suicide bingo card, and get that ready.
I wonder how many weapons might as well be brand new weapons after the update hits.
I don't know how much, but since heavy mentioned his miniguns in the comic I presume that a primary is coming for heavy
