I mean they've been missing since the 2013 Fall Content Pack. They just stopped after describing a couple of hats for that update and they haven't existed since, save for a few promo items.
So it's really not the tier system's fault.
They should do a new item description contest like the one they did back in 2009/2010

We'll probably see a blog post before we do an email. It also depends on if it's multi-day. If there's a long SFM video to go with the update, i'd expect multi-day (A la Love&war) if it's a "trailer" SFM it'll probably be sameday release shortly after the blog (EOTL). Also factor if it's a bulk update or a multiple content (if there's both community and competitive content, multiday would make sense. but they could just as easily release all at once)
Given that three life extender machines were built, one for Redmond and Blutarch, and one for an unknown purpose, the last one was completed on April 14th, the same day Abraham Lincoln died, we know Abraham Lincoln was the original pyro, and we don't know the identity of the current pyro, my theory is that the current pyro is an abestos-poisoned Honest Abe, who joined back with the team once a portable version of the life-extender had been invented, with horrible brain-damaging side effects.

Yeah, but we'd surely have had a blog post by now if we were getting the update shortly thereafter today and the time for average blog posts (that were not continuations of a multiple part blog post) has already passed. I was originally expecting today as well, but at this point, we may as well count on Thursday at the bare minimum. :frown:

I'd be fine with tiered items and such if they weren't used so often. Sure it's great to have a cool item with a purple name, or a rare pink name item, but what's the point when there's like 30+ other items like that. And what about the amazing items that you can't affored because someone decided to make them Elite grade? It'd be better IMO if they only used tiered items every once in a while and not in every update.

Updates don't usually come out on Wednesdays, and I think that they would probably want one full day of bug testing that was not right after a Holiday as Geel said earlier.

That's just straight up false, since June 2012 more major updates have come out on Wednesday than any other day of the week.

most of those were multi-day update thing so it can happen today and release at thursday to grow more hype. I really miss those multi-day update; Spy VS Sniper was the best because of its twists
Really glad they've added more of NassimO's Dispense-O-Matic art to the valve store in the form of posters and a mousemat, really solid work.
They even added wall art from Invasion which is nice (Pyro X-Ray), though not the one I'd expect. Still neat.
