Ohhhhhhhhhh boyyyyyyyyyyyy https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kacDIE8ajEA&feature=share
I'm sick of seeing people posting every minor lmaobox related content everywhere, reddit it 80% "LMAOBOX IS BACK" and now you've tainted the only place i figured wouldnt stoop so low honestly why feed them, this isnt even update speculation
I hope that Valve are so quiet because they are busy with 9v9 implementation While i personally prefer 6s and think that 6s are better, i think that some gamemodes just don't fit 6s and can't be changed to suit 6s without being spoiled

Hate to bring up Overwatch here again but I just realized something. Blizzard is known for competitively timing their releases with their competitors. Maybe Overwatch will start timing their updates/expansions around tf2's major updates now
valve isnt exactly vocal about incoming updates
True, but Overwatch can still immediately release something hidden afterwards. Or even a free weekend.

It's the perfect crime.
valve isnt exactly vocal about incoming updates
For the past 4 or 5 years we've gotten a major update around the Steam summer sale, one around Halloween and one around the Steam Christmas sale. There's only been a few major updates that aren't around those time frames, and most of those are community created updates. It isn't exactly hard to predict when we'll get a major update. You can't predict the exact date but it's very easy to predict the approximate time frame.
In fact these mini updates are the only good things about Tuesdays for me
How awful are your Tuesdays that a video game update is the only highlight?
Man I just miss the weekly or even bi-weekly updates. I have a feeling we're in another month long hiatus to just get a patch with hat updates. Man, what I'd give for those performance fixes hinted at last August.

TF2 Updates? That's not a common thing. TF2 Comics? I think Valve forgot they had those.
I wonder how much income mvm tickets actually produce i guess not alot since valve has zero will to continue developing the mode? or their sales are probably included in the overall shop stats?
I wonder how much income mvm tickets actually produce i guess not alot since valve has zero will to continue developing the mode? or their sales are probably included in the overall shop stats?
If only Valve had a big community MVM update they could make official that could cause an increase in purchases of MVM tickets with minimal amount of work by Valve.
Sadly there is no big good community MvM update they could add .
Sadly there is no big good community MvM update they could add .
It might not fit under your lofty reaches of "good", but it's basically the only "big community MvM update" out there. As far as I know, nobody else is organizing one? And, well, you can't go shittalking like that if you're not gonna put your money where your mouth is.
Sadly there is no big good community MvM update they could add .
Who exactly are you and why do you think you're such an authority on what is and isn't quality? I want to see some credentials: 3+ references and past work experience along with your résumé.
Them slowing down on Updates usually means a large one will come, eh, soon.
And, well, you can't go shittalking like that if you're not gonna put your money where your mouth is.
while I completely disagree with the words he said I don't think that's a fair argument it doesn't take a good chef to know good food
while I completely disagree with the words he said I don't think that's a fair argument it doesn't take a good chef to know good food
Good point, and I do agree with that. But, it's like, there's been a fair amount of people saying that this project or another project "is a lame direction" or whatever, but people just complain about it and don't go "I can do better."
while I completely disagree with the words he said I don't think that's a fair argument it doesn't take a good chef to know good food
While it doesn't take an expert to identify quality, that's not to say that stating an opinion with absolutely zero backing actually means anything more than a passing fart. I could tell you right now that your face is repulsive and end the conversation. You're not going to take that sort of thing seriously because its ultimately meaningless without having any substance to support that stance. On the contrary, if I phrase it as a preferential thing rather than as a fact, you'll still shrug it off as nothing more than an opinion. If I dislike your face that's whatever why would you care in the first place, it's not the same as saying that your face is objectively repulsive.
custom mvm is an extremely difficult subject. from what I've experienced many many missions suffer the taint of bias from authors (i might be no exception). their waves are balanced around what they personally believe of such weapon or such tactic and it's usually not quite right. plus the actual concept of "fun" becomes completely subjective (blocking 5 super scouts with a sentry on wave1 or lose is not everyone's cup of tea). I also still fail to see how revenue could be handled with the ticket system. I would rather leave mvm conception to the team who thought of it, but we all know its an hopeless avenue.
I also still fail to see how revenue could be handled with the ticket system. I would rather leave mvm conception to the team who thought of it, but we all know its an hopeless avenue.
There's a number of ways I believe they could do it. 1. Unique ticket exclusive to the new tours. 2. Buying into a Gun-Mettle-esque pass would get you contracts on the new tours, along with a free ticket every week or so.
I also still fail to see how revenue could be handled with the ticket system.
2 obvious avenues. Have a separate ticket item that has proceeds go to the mission designer and map maker in a split. Same deal as with the special keys we've had for years. Have the general ticket debit a grand account that's simply unattributed to anyone then have each individual ticket attributed to the proper contributor(s) once the ticket is consumed. Tickets that are consumed on a valve-made mission are simply taken out of this account and into valve's general earnings. Things get confusing for any payment system if you have a community-made map but with a mission designed by someone else. What dictates the split in that situation is entirely up for the TF team to decide upon if they go with that route.
I wonder how much income mvm tickets actually produce i guess not alot since valve has zero will to continue developing the mode? or their sales are probably included in the overall shop stats?
Even if MvM did yield considerable income, Valve has no consistency with regard to pursuing profit if it means putting in the time and manpower necessary to achieve it. They don't operate like a real business, they just engage in whichever activity they find enticing at the time, be it VR, worthless Steam Machines, etc. And the real tragedy is that they don't have to, since the majority of their revenue comes from the sales of other people's products through their digital distribution monopoly. Yes, I'm aware that detractors of this assessment may cite contracts and skins as signs that Valve seeks profit above all else, but if that were truly the case, then we'd see a lot more of it, alongside aggressive marketing campaigns. I truly believe that if Valve employees were a little hungrier for paychecks, it would be better for us in the long term.
We're not even asking for new MVM maps. All we want is a new tour. 3-6 new missions, make a few more colors and effects for killstreaks as a "wave 2", and change a few color values to make Aussie weapons Chrome weapons. How hard can that really be?
