Major Update Speculation V31: Gamechanging Edition

I thought Miss Moth was just another TF2 youtuber
What I want to know is why that Skeletor mask can pass as a non-restricted item, while my favorite cosmetic, the Dark Helm, remains Halloween-exclusive. Their standards are so arbitrary at this point.
I hope this means there'll be monthly cosmetic cases now, what with the name of the case.

I wonder if taunts will be accepted periodically too then

Here's the standards: At one point they were doing restricted items, now they aren't anymore. There's not really any further thought into it. It's probably tricky because they can't wholesale make every item from the past unrestricted because of some of the "yeah i definitely do NOT want to see this all year" items, but they can't make some items unrestricted due to fairness.
And let's not forget the banana hat.
Who the heck is that?
Pretty sure that's a YouTuber who is friends with some other YouTubers like Uncle Dane and King Raja.

So nobody.
my goodness they fixed the sniper rifle idle anim.
that one was broken far earlier than the others. for like 4 years.
too bad the anim itself is almost nothing

That doesn't create credibility. For the record she's just making assumptions, it's not something said with any knowledge of what the real plans are.

I still don't get the whining about restrictions being "random" or "biased".
They restricted certain workshop halloween items starting in 2012. About half of the items added weren't restricted, and the differences between restricted and unrestricted items was obvious.
Then they realized that their restriction regulations weren't very clear, so they made a blog post: Every halloween item accepted from the workshop would be restricted. That continued until last year, where they made a surprise change - every item accepted was unrestricted. Even items that very well should have been restricted, like the Scout pirate set or the Pyro items.
The guidelines have been clear since 2013. Every content creator knew that the item they submitted would be restricted, up until last Halloween. Whining about restrictions making no sense is pointless. The restrictions are clear and regulated, and have been for years. There are no outlying restrictions, except for the 4 or 5 items limited to Pyroland that were added during Meet the Pyro.

Junebug Cosmetic Case, anyone?
I think you guys are underestimating the implications of this update. They just fixed several 4+ year old bugs with no warning and no immediate purpose. Something must be driving them to fix these long overlooked things, and I like it and hope for more in the future.

And I think you are overestimating them.
Like, it's not the first time they changed bugs like these for no reason whatsoever.
We are talking about the Team Fortress "Fixed Memory-Issues on Mac when playing on cp_Junction as a Pyro with the Pyro-vision equipped when shooting the last point with a Flare Gun" Team.

Competitive overhauling.
How often do updates happen on days that aren't Tuesdays or Thursdays?
Given that it's a "cosmetic" case, I'm a little surprised that Valve didn't attempt to sneak in a Mayflower Compact joke somewhere.
Damn I sold Riflrman and Salty Dog I had. Where do I check for any updates of lovely hats, so I don't get fucked with next time?

Check the emporium, they usually post some of the updates there.

It seems like people have been posting about hat updates less to try and discourage people from buying them all up en masse like the Dead of Night and Cotton Head.

with the game's age, valve covered pretty much any time lapse at least once. Even the seemingly impossible ones such as saturdays.
whats funny

I'd say that getting the word out as widely as possible would prevent that more. Price checking sites would probably be the best location to alert people. I'm one who always checks up on items when someone tries to trade with me, especially if they add me out of the blue.
For example, I got really lucky with this last update. On the third I bought a universal translator with the effect I wanted. Three days later I got an add from someone wanting to buy it. He kept trying to raise his offer, even well over the price I got it for, and I kept declining because I liked the hat/effect and wanted to keep it. This alone is raised a red flag for me. I checked his inventory, and sure enough, he currently had about seven unusual universal translators.
Looking into it, turns out that on the fourth, the workshop entry was updated with the tags changed to misc and all class. I didn't see any images showcasing it on the new classes, just that the material was updated to better match paints. The only other thing I found about it getting updated was in the comments: the author confirmed that it was going all class and misc if Valve accepted it. For someone currently selling such a thing and getting the price they asked for wouldn't notice anything unusual, and I doubt they'd go and check the workshop page of the item.
So at the very least, I'd advocate checking workshop pages for expensive items you're selling before you hit that confirm.
Seems like valve have made an early gargoyle case-esque mistake where none of the regular quality items are marketable yet, only the strange versions :v:

Maybe someone should e-mail them about it.

Hope that people does not think they have some sort of affiliation with valve. Theres alot of people that actually think they work at valve.
Well.... This sure is an interesting way how the market deals with items of the same name, huh
