Something like that could be interesting.

One of the suggestions I was considering was allow him to attach it to the enemy team in hopes that he would go back to his team, unknown that he had a bomb attached to him and get them all killed in the process. An alternate way to take out sentry nests is to have the engineer himself do it for you as well lol. Think it'd need more means of removal though then homewrecker or wrenches though to be fair. I believe the biggest complaint is about griefer doing this to get their teammates killed. Which I still think is dumb. That's what vote kicks are for, if it weren't for that he'd probably be goofing off anyway and not helping the team to begin with. The utility of knowing and being able to call out the exact uber percentage as well as the health of the whole opposite team at any time is immense.

Every class gets played there - the problem for Spy talked about here is getting on par with other classes, which he doesn't really get. He's not useless, but a second Soldier would probably be better.

He's not useless, but a second Soldier would probably be better.[/QUOTE] You make it seem like Spies are useless outside CnD in Highlander and pretty much just cater to it to remain every last bit of utility. CnD is merely a viable choice, many Spies go without and function normally, i.e. Stabby. As for 6s, that's laser-focused on power classes. No balancing should be done in that regard whatsoever.
I'm not saying Spies are useless in Highlander, just that there's more useful classes. All classes can be useful, TF2 isn't [i]that[/i] unbalanced. It's just that if 9v9 allowed you to pick your own classes, you absolutely would not be seeing Spies around as much (probably more similar to 6v6 where he's used uncommonly for picks and then switched to another class again). Mort's original post was about buffing a Spy to be viable in comp in general (not just Highlander), which just is not going to happen due to how the class works.
The problem with Spy in HL is that he's always there. Running a Spy is 6's is used as a surprise tactic, you don't know whether or not one will appear unless you catch them out or they attack you. In HL, the Spy is a constant, so you'll always be aware of his presence and unlikely to let your guard down.
Some classes are designed to be utility classes, you don't need to buff them, the whole idea behind the spy is being unexpectable - even well coordinated team will have a hard time dealing with spy if you offclass and go for pick in right time. Stop bringing this up, tf2 classes are balanced, probably the most balanced character set in the multiplayer games ever. Some unlocks are unbalanced, but classes themselves are fine as they are. We have to change unlocks, not classes.
Stopped playing a bit before the competitive matchmaking beta started (about a month before I think), so forgive me for making one of [I]those[/I] posts but, can anyone catch me up? Anything going for the next update (Spy vs Sniper or whatever the update was?). And the only way to play competitive matchmaking right now is with a pass right? How do you get one, and how does it work? Ranks and whatnot?

Only way to play comp by getting a pass, or playing while there is a stress test, if there will be anymore. If someone has a a comp pass already, he will get comp pass gifts in waves. You can ask for a gift from someone who has one avaliable at the time. There are ranks, but they don't really do much at this time, huge amount of the players are still rank 1. (~1700 hour in tf2, and can't get to rank 2)
Honestly when b4nny mentioned that valve was willing to make core class changes, I got pretty excited. Let's face it, some classes have core issues, no matter what weapon youll give the heavy, he'll still be disliked since most players including me find him boring to play. And dont let me get started on Pyro.

It would almost be like the hat describing content, but the vote system would help filter out the bad ones for Valve so they would have to look through every single entry.

I don't mind some mechanical alterations, but if they translate into another overall debuff like L&W, I'll be quite livid.

Seeing all this Competitive vs Casual balance makes me wonder if it's possible for Valve to make separate balance changes. I mean, in CSGO's Casual there are no friendly fire, no player collisions, you can't get more than $10k and you can't buy 2 flashbangs. In other words, Casual's balance is slightly different.
