I am pissed as hell that we didn't get any DOOM promo, i was hoping for Doomguy's hat or double barreled shotty... Right after i realized how cool were Bethesda's promos and started to praise Bethesda for them they stopped doing them. I wonder if we may get any post-release promos like we did recently for Batman. I'm not even talking about Steam cards and badges, these are even easier to make...

As for the Skullgirls promos, I thought the rumors currently floating around is that Valve didn't like the fact they were backed for. But I guess it doesn't even matter that much because the Disgaea promos still haven't see the light of day almost 3 months after the game release. Seems like NIS updated them on May 12 though. (even though I still really want that Big Band Pyro set)
no company acknowledges tf2 anymore and thats perfectly reasonable for a 10 year old game. you shouldn't expect otherwise. and please don't mention passtime
Doom promos would have been really cool. It's a shame they didn't do a promo event like they did for Batman and Tombraider. I have a few items that would have worked well for something like that.
Could've easily had the super shotgun as a FaN skin a la the quake rocket launcher.

Either the team isn't interested in that or no developers have tried since it's never been done yet.
Could've easily had the super shotgun as a FaN skin a la the quake rocket launcher.
Honestly, nearly any of Doom's guns could be used for promotional purposes. The Fists (giving Heavy the spiky ring) as a reskin of Apoco-Fists (Because gibs and berserk), Chaingun for the Minigun, Shotgun, Pistol and the Rocket Launcher for the obvious ones. Hell, they don't even have to go far for a Doom promo weapon, there already is a perfect thing on the Workshop.
Could've easily had the super shotgun as a FaN skin a la the quake rocket launcher.
Someone had a functional BFG piece on the workshop that could be seen as a Cow mangler reskin as well. Super Shotty as a FaN works as well. Since those are probably 2 of the 3 most iconic weapons from the Doom franchise, the third being the Chainsaw.
Honestly, nearly any of Doom's guns could be used for promotional purposes. Even the Berserker Medkit could be a Buffalo Steak Sandvich reskin if you think about it lol. Dropping it it gives 50% max health, consumes it buffs heavies his melee damage output. I honestly wouldn't mind it if the Plasma Rifle was a medic primary, preferibly over dose if it had to be a reskin. One that doesn't have arcing projectiles? Then you got cosmetics... I'd honestly be happy with a Lost Soul/Cacodemon pet perhaps lol. There's a bunch of new weapons too though to be considered... Some are only Mplayer specific so I'm not even sure what they do as I don't care for Doom's multiplayer functions outside of coop in snapmap...
I'd honestly be happy with a Lost Soul/Cacodemon pet perhaps lol.
Wish granted. http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=322555870 I also made a Lost Soul head for Pyro and a demon set for Heavy that was based on the Cyber Demon
Made a poll regarding the current TF2 grade system, please give some feedback by voting on one of the four options, and spread the link with a friend <3
Grades protect aesthetic.
If that was true we wouldn't have the Graylien as a Mercenary grade item. :v:

There should be no elite grade cosmetics. if they want to continue this graded cosmetic gimmick, they should stop the tiers at like assassin or commando, since it still has a decently fair drop chance from crates without pushing it to 1% or less, that seems really unreasonable for just a standard hat. The Well Wrapped Hat is only 1.08$ from the tough break case, it was the highest tier from that case, it's not the best situation but it's better then like. 30$ for the banana hat from the previous case.

And it's not like you can get them from the Mann Co. store, cause they don't put them on there. I'm sorry, but I find that cosmetics being tiered is an absolute joke and no "one - off, aesthetic changing" hat is gonna change my mind.
I couldn't really care about graded cosmetics. I'm just glad they're not limited, holy hell.
If that was true we wouldn't have the Graylien as a Mercenary grade item. :v:
You are aware that TF2 had an alien themed update, right? How can having an alien face for Spy possibly go against the aesthetic of the game when aliens were the aesthetic and thematic basis for an entire major content patch? Now if you wanted to complain about the paintability for it, I'd agree with you, but that's an entirely separate matter...

But people with the cash are willing to pay. Welcome to artificial scarcity: it's the driving force of virtual economies. Unless you can establish a solid argument against tiers, I doubt the TF2 team will seriously consider you. They'll be paying attention to the economy instead. If it improves, tiered sets will be here to stay. If it suffers, they'll consider new directions to take it. The reason the Wrapped Hat is so cheap is because most people don't really want it, nor can it be used to trade up to a better item. Same for that elite grade heavy slug from the invasion cases.
the biggest issue I have is how likely you are to unbox a dupe. There needs to be a system in place so you don't end up unboxing 12 grayliens in a row.
the biggest issue I have is how likely you are to unbox a dupe. There needs to be a system in place so you don't end up unboxing 12 grayliens in a row.
This is my number 1 beef with the current system. If there were 20+ civilian-grade cosmetics in a box and an algorithm that prevented you from getting duplicates until you've unboxed everything from a given tier, I would deem that a solid compromise. That way, tiers could still exist and you won't end up with twenty of the same item.
https://wiki.teamfortress.com/wiki/December_17,_2015_Patch
"less likely" is not "not" and Id bet "repeated" has some extremely strict requirement as in exiting your backpack probably resets the counter

lol maybe they didn't want to flood the game with gibus look alikes
Having a bunch of Mercenary and Commando with one Assassin grade item was the perfect forumla.
It'd be nice if we got a new system that didn't cater almost entirely to whales. As a normal user, I just don't see the point in uncrating if I can buy 4 of the common items for the price of the key an hour after the crate drops, and the odds of me uncrating anything valuable are slim to none.
I remember reading some time ago that Valve was working on implementing a system that would give a portion of market profits to the creator of the item. Any news on that?
