2 years later, the road leads nowhere.
that's surreal. But not as surreal as reading this comment in the future 2 years from now.
Two years from now we'll be waiting for the next comic to come out.
2 years later, the road leads nowhere.
june 13th is my birthday, and surprisingly it still is 2 years later. looking back tf2 really hasn't gotten much done in 2 years has it, nothing has been added that really shook up the game or brought in a completely new play styles, new maps were added but then completely forgotten as everyone went back to only playing upward, badwater, 2fort, dustbowl, and harvest, the same classes that were bad then are bad now, and random crits are still a thing. edit: - I guess they made mini sentries less obnoxious so Ill give valve that
They made the Quickiebomb Launcher. And they made my favourite weapon, the Vaccinator, good again! And, uh. ...Other... Things...

I feel EoTL was a victim of unrealistic expectations and misquotes. The actual short was fantastic and I don't regret throwing money at them as a tip for their work. The duck thing was very silly on multiple levels, I'm going to hand you that. I actually ground out the time to hit level 20 at zero tokens (loads of Degroot Keep runs were a help) just to give a sternly worded letter to the TF2 team about how much actual time that takes and the hopes they never apply the same progression rate to something that might have actual rewards behind it, but I never did get around to that part. It was unrealistic to think at the time Valve would really open the floodgates - or even drip the faucet - for user-generated gameplay-impacting stuff, following Robotic Boogaloo and how that didn't have anything gameplay-impacting either. This is why I genuinely applaud Valve for finally giving the community space to make A WHOLE NEW GAME MODE for Invasion, and hope they'll be open to more outside experimentation going forth. (Honorable mention: ongoing Pass Time development by a third party.) I'm hoping that, should we ever see more huge community-themed update efforts, they'll start to show equal measures trust and discretion to give us both something fun to look at, and something fun to play.
The eotl update was a mistake.
Invayysion was a travesty
everything after mvm was shit
TF2 Beta was the last time the game was worth playing.
I still find the Spectral Halloween Special (Halloween 2012) to be my favorite Update in general. I find it one of the most creative and entertaining TF2 updates to this day, from Halloween Spells to Merasmus' awaited introduction.
The EotL movie was pretty great. I also honestly think the extreme negative reaction to removing Snowplow from the update, the general negative reaction from the community at the time over how Valve was handling TF2 updates and Overwatch all contributed to Valve no longer taking TF2 for granted and gave us the past year of updates so I'll always give the EotL update props for that.
super unpopular opinion ahead uber update was my favorite. a million new weapons and I would treasure hunt the crafting recipes for days until that glorious moment I got the weapon and spent hours testing it on puppet bots.
Releasing the game was a mistake.
I feel like with the Uber update Valve tested what mattered more, Quantity or Quality Guess they have their answer now.
can't deny that was actually game changing and fresh like when you drink water after some pepper mint gum
like when you drink water after some pepper mint gum
...I'm not at all sure what you're trying to say here. Water is tasteless, and peppermint flavor is an oil, with which water doesn't mix. Drinking water after chewing peppermint gum neither introduces a new flavor, nor gets rid of the existing flavor, so I'm not sure why the water part is necessary?
The thing about Uber Update though, while the weapons were fresh garbage at the time, they weren't lovingly crafted hellspawn like many before them. Many of them actually got fixed and even became popular, the exact opposite of such juicy hits as Dead Ringer, Gunslinger, Natasha or Sandman, which came before them.

What makes you think I haven't tried it? Got gum and water lying around, already grabbed a stick and took a few sips, still didn't make any sense, hence my question.

It doesn't take a genius to figure that out. Have you never brushed your teeth?
Drinking something cold after eating something minty can be painfully cold, but refreshing. It doesn't take a genius to figure that out. Have you never brushed your teeth?
Wow, presumptuous and insulting at the same time. Impressive. Funny thing about humans - they don't all experience the same things in the same way. If you show someone an optical illusion and they don't see it, calling them stupid and asking ridiculous mocking questions like "Are you blind or something?" pretty much just makes you a total asshole. So I dunno what's going on here - I'm chewing peppermint gum and drinking water here, and I'm not experiencing anything particularly refreshing, and certainly nothing painfully cold. Not sure why that's the case, but hey - it sure as shit isn't because you're some kind of a genius and I'm not, so maybe cool it with the whole jerkass behavior? Maybe instead you could, I dunno - explain the phenomenon as you understand it in a polite and civil way? You know, in case maybe the world doesn't quite work the way you arrogantly assume it must?

Edit: Here you go.
maybe your menthol receptors are busted or something, I don't know videogames
No, sorry, we'll get back to video games after you stop being a jackass and insulting me just because I'm experiencing a tiny sliver of the world a bit differently than you do. Oh yeah, sure, my menthol receptors are busted. That's gotta be it, right? Wait, no - I'm, ya know... tasting mint here. Hrrm. Taste buds are working just fine. So what next? I'm certain you can find something else offensive to suggest. Maybe I'm brain-damaged? Basically you just think because something about my situation is slightly different then your situation, that means I'm somehow wrong or broken or stupid. And in contrast you're perfect, of course? Yeah, that's not just incredibly insulting and wildly egotistical or anything. I mean... are you purposefully trying to be a huge jackass? Because, if you're not, maybe rethink this sort of response in the future, yeah? Because even if you aren't trying to be, you're... kinda being a fucking douchebag. Just FYI and all that. this is all my fault
I had to look it up—there were 21 new weapons in the Uber update, not to mention the 6 new paints and many classic cosmetics (I still wear the Desert Marauder and Sultan's Ceremonial even though I got them in 2011-2012). The last time we got new weapons and it was 3 (Panic Attack/Quickies/Iron Bomber) I thought that was a lot of weapons, god deezy.
this is all my fault
It's really not. All you did was say something I didn't understand. You're not the one who felt the need to be personally insulting over the matter of a simple misunderstanding.
yknow this situation is kinda like after you brush your teeth and eat something and it tastes kinda off and you don't know what's real anymore
