Jill pls tell them we want the old crates back
jill pls tell them to add more of my hats thanks
How do crates work now anyways? I have been away for three years.
How do crates work now anyways? I have been away for three years.
they all use the CS:GO/DOTA rarity tier system now, so literally 80% of items unboxed are the same few blue-grade items while everything else in the crate is artificially rare they managed to make opening crates even more of a waste of money, it's actually impressive
How do crates work now anyways? I have been away for three years.
Same way they always have. You put in money and get stuff worth less.
Jill pls add the Rebel's Riders
Just updating the voice codec to the one currently used in CS:GO will already make it one of the best updates in years.
The next update is gonna be neato. (Am I doing this right?)
-Spy can't backstab anymore -Pyro can now equip gunboats -Heavy can now equip razorback It's all MUS ever wished for, no matter how bizarre.
Jill, say hi to Robin for us.
The next update is gonna be neato. (Am I doing this right?)
NEATO CONFIRMED (?)
alright guys time to speculate judging by her use of the word "neato", derivative of "neat", we can immediately assume that they'll be massively overhauling and cleaning (neatening) up the game's code, solving all of the engine problems. /s
I foresee a localization files update. I know it's ambitious, but keep in mind Blizzard's going crazy atm, we need something big to compete, and this may just be the thing. Heroes of the Storm will fall.

Nothing has actually changed. Crates have always had some items drop less frequently than others, with only a small minority of crate series having equivalent drop percentages for all items. The sole and utter difference is that now the rarity of a given item is actually shown. Actual item rarity hasn't changed one bit - except that, on average, different items in the same crate actually have smaller differences in rarity these days. Funny, isn't it? Crates have always had different drop rates, but the effect wasn't large enough for people to notice, and thus they didn't care. But now that Valve decided not to leave people in the dark and gave them the information that was always secretly there but not obvious, people are suddenly up in arms about absolutely nothing. I guess ignorance really is bliss, huh?

No. That is incorrect. The vast majority of crates have unequal drop rates.
No. That is incorrect.
Check for yourself then. Look at the old crates drop rates.
Check for yourself then. Look at the old crates drop rates.
I already did. The series with equal rates are: #1, #22, #30, #40, #50, #51, #52, #53, #58, #60, #61, #62, #63, #64, #65, #66, #67, #68, #69, #72, #73, #78, #82, #83, #84, #85, #86, #88, #91, #93, #94. That's only 31 out of 102 crates. (There are also three other crates which might have had equal rates, but the wiki doesn't say, and that still only brings you to 34/102.) Whoops. Looks like you got egg on your face there, pal. Maybe next time you should... I dunno... check for yourself and look at the old crates drop rates?
Hey Jill, if it really is you, I'd first off like to say thank you improving the reach to the community with the maps workshop, a Competitive beta and steam group, and for listen to the community for balancing and tweaking, along with performance fixes. There was controversy over the content, but overall I feel like the team has taken greater steps to improve the game, and more importantly, listen to the community. But If there are any major criticisms I can give about TF2's current state: ITEM TIERS: This is a decision I do not understand, and as a frequent player who enjoys community hats, disappoints me. I want to own the hats in the newest updates, but with item tiers we are taken away that ability. This confuses me as I want to spend my money on your product, whether common in crates or in the Mann Co. Store. But items like the Corona Australius, which I'd like to purchase and give you my money, cost a ridiculous market price of $40 for a single hat. No one is going purchase this for $40 versus the amount that would buy it for $5 from the Mann Co. ALL CLASS UPDATES: These need to be regulated for quality control. Items like the Breakneck Baggies are messing with gameplay, making it hard to identify teams for players. And items like the Gift bringer for Heavy or Hog Dogger for Spy just look sloppy and bad for what I consider to be one of the most aesthetically pleasing video games ever made. CAMPAIGNS: Despite being a controversial topic among the community, I think Campaigns are a fantastic idea. The main issue with them currently is the reward of crates. When rewarded crates for a Hour-long misson, it just feels silly and pointless to buy the pass. The only use of them is to sell them for a quick buck to the side of the community that will pay a high price. This is once again, like item tiers, pandering to a small minority of the community who will fork out large amounts of cash on items, versus the majority of the players that just want to enjoy hats and spend some money, not a ridiculous amount. If campaigns gave away only skins or items that didn't need a extra micro-transaction to use, I wouldn't pass up a new campaign in a heartbeat.
who's jill?
who's jill?
A Valve employee.
check for yourself and look at the old crates drop rates?
Strange weapons having a higher unbox chance than hats is not the same as some hats having a higher unbox chance than other hats. Hats - weapons. Not the same thing, even if they come from the same crate.
Strange weapons having a higher unbox chance than hats is not the same as some hats having a higher unbox chance than other hats. Hats - weapons. Not the same thing, even if they come from the same crate.
That's a ridiculous qualification to make. We're talking about using keys and unlocking crates. If you're trying to get a particular hat out of a crate, and you end up getting a weapon instead, how is that meaningfully different than getting the wrong hat in a crate with only hats? You still spend the key, and you still don't get what you wanted. The original complaint was that "literally 80% of items unboxed are the same few blue-grade items while everything else in the crate is artificially rare". What does it matter whether that 80% of items unboxed are a bunch of weapons you don't want, or are a bunch of hats you don't want? You've still only got like a 5% chance of getting exactly what you want - it's still "artificially rare", and it's still been that way since the earliest days of uncrating. The rare items in crates are still rare. The common items are still common. The only difference is that now, the rare items are one color, and the commons are another. Nothing has changed in any meaningful way. Getting a "blue-grade" cosmetic you don't want today is absolutely no different than getting a crummy weapon you didn't want five years ago.
It's different because demand for strange weapons is arguably higher than demand for pure cosmetics.
It's different because demand for strange weapons is arguably higher than demand for pure cosmetics.
If that's your point, then your actual complaint isn't about some items being rarer than others - because that's actually how it has always been - but rather, your complaint is that the value of the specific items which crates contain today are different. But that's also nothing new - previously there were some crates that were much more valuable than others, because they simply contained better items. For crying out loud, people have done analyses of the different values of different crates, to determine which ones are more worthwhile to spend keys on opening. So again, nothing is actually different, and if you weren't already upset years ago, there's no real reason to get upset now.
Opening crates is a mistake.
Opening crates is a mistake.
I know from experience (in CS:GO atleast) :v:.
I know from experience (in CS:GO atleast) :v:.
at least from TF2 market you can get 20 cents or so from shitty stranges but in CS:GO you will probably get something worth about 0.03
is vMcJohn man enough to post here?

This is not the case anymore.
