The melee slot is the prime example of why weapon balancing is objectively superior to shoveling more shit onto the shit pile. Pretty much every class has a couple valid melee choices and then a heap of trash like the Sun-on-a-Stick and the Third Degree.

Well, our last 2 major updates were soley based on weapon balances, so Id be shocked if they didn't touch any this year. We got a whole lot of it last year, and I expect a whole lot more this year
If you want to count major rebalances that essentially made whole new, fun weapons out of things that used to be totally worthless, then the last new melees we got were the Big Earner and the Jag back in Gun Mettle. Those items might as well have not existed at all before they got buffed.

It's a shame that Valve are breaking team colouring on weapons (outside of initially only the Fire Axe) There's also that bug where normal weapons change team colouring if they're picked up, but skinned weapons don't.

Other weapons and festive lights do, but skins won't. Wouldn't surprise me if it was directly related.
