So if I'm understanding these passes, only vintage ones create more?
These passes are spreading like wildfire now because friend just gifted me one
It's like the Dota beta all over

No, I was given one from a standard invite and mine generated 4 invites.
Wait, so how do you actually get these passes? I'm confused

Nope, if you get invited you get a normal pass and it generates more passes

You can randomly get them, or get a pass gifted to you
You either get a gift pass from someone else, or you get one randomly for being in the MM Beta Group. Once you have a pass it will generate more for you to gift to others, and those passes will generate more etc.
The people who were originally granted passes by Valve (i.e b4nny) now have Vintage Beta Passes.
I've been playing all night and my pass hasn't generated any new passes. Is it just stupidly random?
So does the pass come as a random drop or get added to your steam inventory automatically? Thanks

Both, items that drop are also added to your steam inventory immediately if you're not in-game when you receive them (IE items given to you from promotions or traded to you), but basically either the passes drop automatically randomly or you're gifted them by somebody else that has one. You're welcome
I may be late but,
Brazil servers for matchmaking. For the first time in history, Valve has afforded ridiculously expensive servers there.
It really shows how they care about MM. It's happening.
Would be really cool if Russia could get their own servers as well, playing CS:GO comp was a hell at first because half of the time you get matched with people who don't even speak English, or refuse to do so, at the lower-mid ranks.

Please no - all countries that are close to Russia will be doomed then ;_;
Though i don't mind if that will work like in Dota so you have to manually chose regions. Region bans would be cool too (i mean, if you use russian on EU server you can be reported and temporary banned from connecting EU servers)

No offense, but Ukranians' attitude and behavior are no much different to Russians'.
I'm all for Russian servers though, getting 150 ping on nearest available servers in Valve games isn't nice. And it also could solve the cyka blyad problem, or at least soften it.
It'd be nice if you were able to choose servers anyway, or limit ping - when I am playing with west coast American friends (as a European) we want to have east coast America servers, not west coast and Europe alternating for horrible ping.

Moreover, why am I a west coast american playing on east coast american servers?
valve really needs to fix the part where abandoning doesn't give the winning team any mmr. just had a game where we were smashing the other players so someone got salty and left, meaning we didn't get any medals or points. how is that fair?

How is it fair for the enemy team to lose rank when they only had 5 players, or for you to get rank when you outnumbered them? The low priority should dissuade more people from abandoning when mm has been out longer and people understand the consequences to abandoning.

2. it could be made so it only happens if someone abandons in the final round

Still isn't fair for people to gain rank because they beat a disadvantaged team.

I didn't get my mmr though we won 5v6 once.

is it fair that they dont get anything for winning one and a half rounds because little jimmy gets butthurt and ragequits?
I think that situation you've said indicates that the general mmr system needs a lot of improvement (i.e. more than just win/lose) before mm releases, nothing good you can really do with the general approach we have at the moment.
What if a AI bot just spawns when a player leaves, like in CS? The match could still be fair, the player who left would be punished, and the match would be ranked
So I've had this concept for a while and I thought I might post it here, there's no denying that tf2s bots and awful, but since competitive might need a bot feature like the one in CS:GO, why not have the bots only choose less-mobile classes, what I mean by this is, they should not choose demo or soldier, but they should also not choose engi or medic, engi and medic should be left to humans not bots due to there "make or brake" nature in a round, bots should only choose sniper, heavy, scout and pyro. The reason I think a bot could choose scout is because valve could add new nav meshes for each of the classes, scout has more predictable form of movement, and a scout bot could have more specific map nav mesh made for double jumping, not sure if valve would do this, or if this is even possible but this is an idea I've had for a while.

Have you seen how frame perfect certain Expert bots are?
Their logic and aim may be flawed but a bot pyro usually never misses their first airblast.
And besides, with CS bots they at least have the basic logic to understand player movement, TF2 bots find it hard to understand player locations half the time.
And end up getting themselves killed by tunnel visioning one certain player because they dealt 5 damage to them.
What if a AI bot just spawns when a player leaves, like in CS? The match could still be fair, the player who left would be punished, and the match would be ranked
They would have to make nav meshes for all the maps
I don't think that would be an issue for them, it's not that difficult. And since the game can generate some rough ones by itself, they just have to make some small adjustments.
tfc mercs aren't major characters, except maybe the heavy
You know when they were introduced, i was expecting them to retroactively get a huge amount of charicter and maybe explore the "30's" and get some huge retconning of TFC and shit.
But no, only pyro got any character and they kill off half of them on day one, that's cool
Clearly they're setting things up for a 1930's TFC reboot using Source 2 and CS:GO's grenade physics.
...right?

I'd play the shit out of a 1930's themed TFC:S2
I wanna know why i need the mobile authenticator to play the beta when the pass isnt even tradable.
Is the logic that someone with a beta pass is more likely to get their account stolen? What other company does shit like this? Blizzard sure doesnt.
