Schema Update: http://git.optf2.com/schema-tracking/commit/?id=2aa48b113d7b53fdf34f8e9c8ec5446017718220&context=10 Looks like the date that Contracts will stop has been delayed? EDIT: Update just pushed http://store.steampowered.com/news/21028
Fixed players not receiving Tough Break contracts and extended the campaign deadline through April 4th
Valve's buying themselves time for a big patch?
Valve's buying themselves time for a big patch?
There is no indication of a possible update hitting when the campaign ends. It didn't happen with Gun Mettle, it didn't happen with Invasion or Halloween.
We've also got a few months before normal update time. Pretty much every year, big updates don't really get started till roughly June Though with this brave new world we've stumbled upon with the advent of Matchmaking and frequent patches, it -might- be a bit sooner. Not expecting anything huge till summer, though
What makes the first half of the year undesirable for big updates?
What makes the first half of the year undesirable for big updates?
Summer update, halloween, saxxies, fall, christmas all usually happen. The time before it usually gets dried up before the update train. Whenever things like summer, fall, maybe christmas happen, usually other slightly unrelated things come with them. For instance, 2014's summer update was when lots of weapons started getting tweaked. Mecha engie was the 2012 christmas update; it added new content to MVM and three new weapons.
What makes the first half of the year undesirable for big updates?
Holiday season is over, the second half of school/classes has begun (which usually means a lot more time is spent studying and getting ready for big tests/finals/state tests), and there are no big booms in media outlets like video games and movies until the start of the summer season (which is in about a month and a week). Spring is usually the dead season for video games specifically.
Spring is usually the dead season for video games specifically.
Usually. there's actually alot of decently hyped games coming out in may.
Usually. there's actually alot of decently hyped games coming out in may.
Well yea, May is the beginning of the Summer semester, like I said. Most colleges (including mine) get out at the beginning of May.
Schema Update #2: http://git.optf2.com/schema-tracking/commit/?id=8fcf0b149aabbc9facbb943f13319e58fbdaae17&context=10 Looks like it just changes the contracts expiration warning.
Figured you guys might want to know: The Brim-Full of Bullets' update and its new styles should be getting into the game soon.
There is no indication of a possible update hitting when the campaign ends. It didn't happen with Gun Mettle, it didn't happen with Invasion or Halloween.
Not trying to disagree but wasn't the reason that invasion was put off for weeks leading to everyone getting irritated and generally disliking it when it did come out due to originally having to wait til gun mettle was finished (then that whole users agreeing to terms/price payouts fiasco)? Plus we've been spoiled a bit recently, if you include contracts/passes as real updates, we have had little downtime since gun mettle, there wasn't alot of time between each of them and even then they were dropping hints to the other ones (like the saucers and such). So i can see why people are hopeful something comes out after tough break.
The Brim-Full of Bullets' update and its new styles should be getting into the game soon.
Sweet, one of my favorite sniper hats is getting an update!
Cue the shitposters asking about whether it is too late or not to hoard lots of Brim Fulls so they can sell them at a higher price later.
Well obviously not it's not going on Engi OR DEMO (/s for those who don't get it read here https://facepunch.com/showthread.php?t=1485597&p=50015800&viewfull=1#post50015800 )
So I was browsing servers in hopes of playing some community maps and... [t]http://images.akamai.steamusercontent.com/ugc/529544672774273443/CB1467DA664ECF731389DD39EF3A55BDBBC884C7/[/t] Wait, why would a Valve server run a pro_viaduct? What's even odder is that viaduct has been removed of the comp rotation. Is this some sort of fake Valve server ran by someone else, or is Valve testing the community-used 'pro' versions of the comp maps

Anybody can rename their server to "Valve Server". I have a server and I could do it
I really wish there was a "SNIPER!" callout for voice commands and that the rest of the classes got their own unique Ready Up lines (and any other lines missing from MvM)
I really wish there was a "SNIPER!" callout for voice commands and that the rest of the classes got their own unique Ready Up lines (and any other lines missing from MvM)
I just use "Sentry Ahead" and "Incoming" if I am trying to warn teammates about a sniper, although I agree a sniper command would be most welcome.
There already is a sniper callout line, from MvM. It's just not assigned to any key. It'd be nice if they just added another key for callouts. We still have a majority of a keyboard to use for that.
I really wish there was a "SNIPER!" callout for voice commands and that the rest of the classes got their own unique Ready Up lines (and any other lines missing from MvM)
For voice commands, I think there should be: "Sniper!" "Sorry!" "You're welcome!" "Follow me!" "Go away!"
A sorry command is so desperately needed Too often i've stolen the medics healthpack and have no way to explain it other than violently shake my mouse :v:
The worst is Demo's "Thanks!" line where he says "I didn't need your help you know!", I was just trying to thank my teammate, no need to be a dick, Demo.
A sorry command is so desperately needed Too often i've stolen the medics healthpack and have no way to explain it other than violently shake my mouse :v:
I just say "No" and then guard them and the medpack area until it respawns
When there is a Heavy ahead, I most of the time just say "Sentry ahead!" Should just add a command saying a "A Source of great Danger is ahead fellow Mercenary!"
Just a general "WATCH OUT!" would be helpful already, because there's a lot of stuff you want to call out (like "STICKY TRAP!", "UBERED ENEMY!", "CRAZY PARACHUTING DEMO ABOVE!").
Just a general "WATCH OUT!" would be helpful already, because there's a lot of stuff you want to call out (like "STICKY TRAP!", "UBERED ENEMY!", "CRAZY PARACHUTING DEMO ABOVE!").
thats what "incoming" command means most of the time thought
I find "incoming" to work surprisely well at warning my teammates for anything. Follow it up with a "help" and they know to gtfo.
For voice commands, I think there should be: "Go away!"
Yes please. It would be perfect for when the medic tries to shield me when I just wanna reflect double damage crockets as pyro in mvm.
thats what "incoming" command means most of the time thought
You're right, I guess a more appropriate voice line would be "Danger ahead!". I feel like they could totally merge Cheers/Jeers and Positive/Negative, even if that would deprive us of a surefire "Well don't that beat all". "Sniper!" especially would be easy to implement.
