I have the same problem with this update as a lot of previous item model/material updates- it looks too detailed now, especially in comparison with the rest of the medic's base model.
Why? It was only good on scout. Oh well at least it's not like the breakneck baggies.
They have a right to be able to update their stuff, I like we have a right to call it dumb. Not that I think this update is dumb, mind.
Honestly, though, even though I'm not too happy about the seeming 'no, don't worry i won't' turning into a 'okay i did it', it's not really too bad. You might argue that the hat doesn't fit on the classes, but seriously did the hat ever completely 'fit' on Scout in the first place? I regret scrapping mine early now, though, I could have made like a billion keys or whatever price the Bot/Hot Dogger prices are gonna inflate to.

and then everyone complains when I want to make the patriot peak all class.
anyone got a picture of bot dodger or brim full of bullets

Well I had a change of heart once I saw the pyro version.
can anybody confirm for me that valve broke the team coloring on the brim-full's new "ugly" style?
Apparently its not working properly on my end.
Looking at the schema, the styles aren't set up for team colors
They lack the
"skin_red" "0"
"skin_blu" "1"
Required to give styles team colors
Looks like they didn't realize the item had team colors.
Most people would take the time to update both the model and the class versions.
It's better to take the opportunity push all the updates into one batch to make it look as best as it could be than to rely on Valve updating an item multiple times.

Item updates are a privilege and Valve accepts them at their own discretion. Don't act like item makers are entitled to them getting in because they aren't. Item makers don't have perfect judgement either, just because it's "theirs".
Ultimately Valve decides what should or shouldn't be done, and given this is an internet forum about discussion of TF2 and its updates, I don't see anything wrong with critiquing that.

I've already emailed eric about fixing it, hopefully it should be a simple fix with just another schema update. Thanks for the help.

Once again, the complaints are because the model desperately needs improvements to the general outline of it. People would be much more open to the changes if you fixed what was broken before trying to sell people on new features for it. I had actually gotten a handful of them around when they first came out because I liked the idea when the update that added the cosmetic was released, but I find the low-poly nature of the peak too noticeable to willingly use it in-game, and I know that there are others that feel the same way. Making it all-class doesn't magically change this.
Fix the mesh before going through with the all-class update.

On the bright side, this update has basically given you the equivalent of eight more unusual hats.

You're famous for doing exactly the thing that makes literally everybody here not want cosmetics being updated to become multi-/all-class. That's not something to be proud of.
Also that's not a meme.

Oh damn it got in already. I made em' last night.
The cans of Crit-a-Cola was the first time I did any sort of texturing for an item. Hope they don't look bad to you guys. :v:
Mass demand :p
I have no idea why they didn't accept the Hot Dogger allclass, I submitted both
So wait, the Hot Dogger is still only for Scout, but the Robo version is now for everybody? What the fuck?

Think about all the people who had their Bot Doggers on the market and just accidentally sold their hats for a fraction of their new market value because they were asleep when the update hit.

the mesh isnt that big of an issue beyond two feet, I've already said my piece on this but you refuse to read
fuck off about it aight. whatever changes valve chooses to accept, valve chooses to accept.
the mesh isnt that big of an issue beyond two feet, I've already said my piece on this but you refuse to read
Maybe because almost everyone universally disagrees with you about that and I can definitely tell you that I noticed it in-game, which is the very reason I don't use it anymore.
You're doing yourself a disservice more than you think by choosing not to bother with something that actually is viewed as a reason not to use the hat.
As a writer, I can testify that even if you think that they're wrong, if a lot of people are giving criticism to a part of your project, even if YOU think it's okay and deserves no change, it's still being criticized by people who most likely know what they're talking about, and that part of your project deserves attention.
Yes, you can upload your item to make it all-class and do no other changes to it whatsoever, Valve will take it in and that will be that, but if you honestly care about putting out quality work, then you should be ready to put in the time to make it truly better instead of just fitting it for more classes to wear.
I can certainly understand not wanting to pretty much redo all your work from the ground-up, but I think this is where you have to ask yourself, are you updating for the sake of it, or do you actually want to do better?
and then everyone complains when I want to make the patriot peak all class.
To be fair, the bot dogger has been in the game a while. Patriot Peak was added 3 months ago.
You even said you weren't going to update it visually because its too much work, so I guess everyone is complaining because they don't want another lazy all class update grab. If you make the model less poly-like and more detailed, that would be a justifiable item update.
You're free to do what you want, just don't expect everyone to like it.

you know that's rather werid seeing as since the update I've seen the hat worn significantly more than other previously popular soldier hats
clearly people like it. I'm not out here making changes for a bunch of sticklers about model quality that's hardly noticeable in game.
I've already put in all the goddamn work but if you want me to go over it for the fiftieth goddamn time i fucking will
I'm NOT going to redo the model at this point because I have ALREADY gone through the effort of making the fucking thing fit to every class, corvalho would have to completely redo all of his fucking texturework, and frankly im absolutely sick of working on the damn thing
is that fine with you? or are you gonna keep making a fucking issue of it?
So wait, the Hot Dogger is still only for Scout, but the Robo version is now for everybody? What the fuck?
It would be all class soon, I can see it coming in the future.
i still dont agree with it. that hat fit scout because it fit his personality, not anyone else's.

You're acting as if using the scale function to make the hat ridiculously large on the Pyro was some kind of magnum opus that took you weeks to do.
Even disregarding that, he wouldn't need to redo any section except presumably obtain a new UV bake from you so that he could repaint the fabric part of the hat (which most people suggested could use a bit of touching up due to being flat, anyway), as the brim and other sections wouldn't necessarily need modification. It's not like he needs to throw out his emblems because of something that would only require you to do some edge splitting and like 2 minutes of effort moving vertices on your unwrap. You're making it sound like the changes needed to improve your item are going to consume weeks of time and effort to do when you have the hard part already done.
If you still don't want to improve your cosmetic in that regard for some inexplicable reason, so be it, but then don't act like it should be unexpected for people to criticize what you have done if the very people you are supposedly trying to pander to are questioning your decisions with the very same cosmetic.
