So is the only way to improve your MM Rank by winning matches? Because I've never moved my "Fresh Meat" meter past the middle point. I'll play a few legitimately good rounds, but then I'll get a two hour stretch of being paired with total idiots and lone wolves, sending that bar right back down to the bottom. It should really rank you on personal performance rather than how well your team of random scrubs manages to do (usually poorly).
remember about mvm strange parts? Nobody does. Not even valve. Neither I. But here's a quick reminder :
#68: Robot Scouts Destroyed Released: August 13, 2014 #69: Robot Snipers Destroyed Never released #70: Robot Soldiers Destroyed Never released #71: Robot Demomen Destroyed Never released #72: Robot Heavies Destroyed Never released #73: Robot Pyros Destroyed Never released #74: Robot Spies Destroyed Released: August 27, 2013 #75: Robot Engineers Destroyed Never released #76: Robot Medics Destroyed Never released
It's kinda hilarious how badly implemented MM is. My rank has gone so far down that the progress bar is now totally full. No one listens, it's full of the worst kind of TF2 players, there's no filtering based on rank or average score, team balance is nonexistent. It's an exercise in futility. The fact that I do my job as a Medic or an Engie or a Heavy flawlessly, yet get chastised because I was put on a team with two Snipers and a Battle Medic against a team of xXl33tXx360 n0sc0pe Soldiers and Scouts is just baffling. Like, I admit I'm coming off of a multi-hour long streak of just getting steamrolled, so yeah, I'm mad, but it's just baffling to me that this system was set up in this way. Like, what happened to Valve?
I have got put into the game with Noname as a sniper in our team. He got 100 points by playing alone within 5 minutes. Our team just danced a conga on their spawn. We won 2 rounds without any shit given. Nice hacks, Noname. Nice hacks...
Valve should just come up with a few different preset class restrictions that both teams agree on by majority vote a few: scout scout soldier soldier demoman medic scout soldier demoman engineer heavy medic soldier pyro demoman medic sniper spy pyro heavy engineer medic sniper spy
Forcing players to play with a premade team setup is a god awful idea.
highlander exists
highlander exists
Highlander is a situation where there's one of each class rather than a different set of six classes pre-selected for use
It's fun to see that before MM hype lots of people hated 6s for having class restrictions and for constant team setups (because they actually never played or watched 6s and didn't realize that there were offclasses) and now when community experiences that competitive building process again, like it did many years ago, lots of people are voting for class limits with their both hands, some people even vote with their legs too and ask for more restrictions than original 6s had. In other words, i'm happy to see that people start to realize that 6s meta and rules had some good reasons behind them.
If MM's 9v9 doesn't have class locks, then it'll just end up being extended 6s. Spy and Pyro will be not viable to play, and we'll just add another Medic/Demo/Soldier to the mix.

Spy, though? Yeah, probably useless outside of a surprise pick once or twice in a blue moon.
Don't worry guys I read a guide Battle-Medic in 6's is viable we need to break the meta
Pyro would probably be viable as pocket protection when you consider how much more spam there would be with more than one of each explosive class. Spy, though?
scout is often the med killer though. cant reflect bullets back.
Well, I assume it'll evolve like Highlander and the Medic would stick with a Heavy and Demo/Soldier, with a Pyro to help keep explosives and the rare Spy at bay.
scout is often the med killer though. cant reflect bullets back.
But you can stall the Scout in the air and force him to either try and maneuver around the wall of fire or take free shotgun blasts.
But you can stall the Scout in the air and force him to either try and maneuver around the wall of fire or take free shotgun blasts.
and how is that better than just killing him outright with stickies, rockets, shotgun or scattergun
and how is that better than just killing him outright with stickies, rockets, shotgun or scattergun
Not to mention that running a demo or soldier is infinitely better than running a pyro full time.

If all nine of you are in a lobby and you can choose who you want, it would solve a great deal of hassle as well as any potential screw-ups involving someone choosing the wrong class, especially since MM doesn't allow for Spectator

Having a sniper or a spy on your team in MM is a pretty good sign that you are probably going to get steamrolled.
I played about 10 stress test matches and in one of them I had this British strat caller playing Sniper. Not only were his strats horrible but he could never land a single headshot only bodyshots. Literally all of his points were assists from Jarate. I somehow managed to win the match though. Matchmaking has a pretty major bug where sometimes while searching and getting put into a game you'll get booted with the message you'd get if you tried to join a friends game while they were playing MvM. Edit here's the message This server only accepts connections negotiated through matchmaking. Ad-hoc connections are not allowed. Note I joined through the matchmaking system
Pyro would probably be viable as pocket protection when you consider how much more spam there would be with more than one of each explosive class.
Until he gets ripped to shreds by the scouts. Or the Pocket brings a shotgun Or the Soldiers realize how easy it is to counter airblast Or the Demoman just sticky spams.

The only issue that arises is how everybody will have to wait forever until an Engineer or Medic shows up, but that happens with every game queue involving support roles.
Strange Parts should be a free bonus unbox item instead of the sole thing you get from unboxing a crate.
Strange Parts should be a free bonus unbox item instead of the sole thing you get from unboxing a crate.
Instead you get more crates as a bonus.
Strange Parts should be a free bonus unbox item instead of the sole thing you get from unboxing a crate.
Strange parts should actually get rereleased. Most of the good ones cost 3-4 keys because they were only in 1 crate 4 years ago
I really wish Valve would make more Strangifiers.
I'm actually kind of enjoying how viable a lot of strategies are in the current MM. Against good Scouts? Get an Engie. Enemy Heavy tearing stuff up? Get a Sniper. There's a lot of interesting counterpicking going on, making a lot of matches with a lot of class switching, and it actually works pretty well. In particular in the case of Engineer and Pyro people underestimate how well they do with all unlocks allowed (Reserve Shooter, Powerjack, Gunslinger, Jag, Widowmaker).
