I am hoping... that Valve will release a new normal crate soon
[t]http://i.imgur.com/P2RNghY.png[/t]
I think that they gonna add highlander in next update
[t]http://i.imgur.com/P2RNghY.png[/t]
sure b4nny and stuff play MM alot but they honestly just mess around. When they've got business to get done they go back to their old format.
b4nny sure didn't mess around with his team against me in MM :(
I'm interested in how they'll handle the next contract. It seems a safe bet that they will be MM focussed but at the same time MM feels nowhere close to ready for an official release.
I think that they gonna add highlander in next update [sp]wich probably gonna be released within 1-2 days, not sure about that though.[/sp] [sp] (ABOVE : end of the Tough Break Campain) [/sp]
Highlander will never be addded. It'll just be 9v9.
Hey have any weapon contributors tried to pass a weapon update through (I don't mean stats btw)? Besides that Skullcutter april fools joke that is.
Highlander will never be addded. It'll just be 9v9.
Isn't Highlander already in the game? Why would they not do that?
-snip answered-
Highlander on your average server is as simple as turning a set of cvars on. The only reason they haven't done it yet with MM is because they want to cover their bases with 6v6 first.
Highlander on your average server is as simple as turning a set of cvars on.
Actually, only one. You can enter "mp_highlander 1" to restrict classes to one of each class, applicable to any game mode, should the server owner choose to enable it. That command has been around since February 2010.
Isn't Highlander already in the game? Why would they not do that?
No? Maybe on custom servers, but on official servers not at all. Highlander means there can only be 1 of each class. They would have to put class locks into the game to make it actually be highlander. Which I can't see Valve doing. If it doesn't have the class locks preventing multiples of the same class, its not highlander.

tomorrows is the 4 so TB ends.
See above.
Yes the coding exist for it. But Can you tell me when Valve has ever actually put it on their servers?
Yes the coding exist for it. But Can you tell me when Valve has ever actually put it on their servers?
Not here yet =/= never will happen
Not here yet =/= never will happen
The I sure hope they make some system where you pick a class before queuing. I can easily see people abandoning matches just because they didn't get to play their favorite class. Which in turns forces everyone to re-queue under the current system. On top of the fact I really can't see the classes having even queues. I just think it be more like valve to make it be 9v9 open classes and call it a day.
I'm sure that by now everyone's seen The Mayann Project, which is a community update with a video by The Winglet that they're hoping to make an official update. YM, who's working on the map for the update posted on the TF2maps.net forum about how Valve wants to handle future community updates:
To clear up a few things with how this works, the new Valve approved way for updates to happen is as follows: 1. People in the community think up an idea 2. Those people make noise about their idea 3. Valve hear the noise and if they agree that it'd make a cool update they post on their blog with: Info about the theme A deadline for submissions (to the workshop) A call to action from everyone in the community who wants to contribute 4. The community works their butts off and posts stuff on the workshop 5. When the deadline passes, Valve choose what they're going to ship 6. The update ships Step 4 can happen before (as well as after) step 3 Because this process is new, several community update projects were started using the old method (a small team works in differing levels of secrecy). Mayann was working like that, but is now open and is currently at step 2. Valve know about the project but until they post about it on the TF2 blog it's not officially happening.
Honestly I think Valve posting about what community updates they want to make official on the blog and letting everyone contribute (as well as setting a hard date for the update) is probably for the best after everything that happened with invasion.

If they are not going to change the Case System and throw back the good ol' "Crate with 3000 Cosmetics in it without tiers" - I don't see a positive future for community updates like this, sadly.
To be fair thats not just invasion though, halloween and christmas got <20 each too despite their being scores of good submissions to choose from.
True I wish valve would just do monthly new hats that'd be the best for me personally
Think we'll ever go back to traditional multi-day updates?
If I were to play devil's advocate I'd say that the game already has so incredibly many cosmetics that everything new is just adding more bloat - but that doesn't really fly as we're still getting stuff like banana hats and alien faces and entire maps that can only be played at Halloween. Come on, Valve, be consistent.
Hell I honestly wish Valve would just say "no more new weapons that aren't reskins" rather than keep us on this kind of waiting list to see "oh maybe this update guys!" I doubt the Matchmaking update will have new weps and I doubt any contract updates will too and I bet that's all we're getting besides annuals and community updates for a while so I highly doubt we'll get new weapons atleast this year
I've said this before, but I wish the tier system was restricted to items designed around it in the first place like skins. I don't mind the idea of the tier system, but I despise it being retroactively applied to community created items like cosmetics that were not designed around the tier system. Things like Strange parts, strange weapons, and other Valve-made items would be OK, but I don't like tiered community items when contributors have no say in the matter.

Edited : I really hope that we're gonna get all halloween restricted hats/maps/stuff updated at this year's halloween update.
