They probably are either
A) Going to do something big with the missing numbers
B) They seriously forgot they even existed and we won't see them any time soon
It'll probably be the latter. Also I'm a bit surprised there haven't been any updates this week seeing as matchmaking has one pretty major bug that makes it unplayable and I'm sure there are some other bugs that need to be fixed

It's pretty obvious at this point that TF2 team does not care about the community, but for $$$
Probably because the community does too (People still sell conp GIFTS for keys) so they think it's fine to be a money leech.
Basically, TF2 team looks at the WRONG side of the community and takes inspiration from the WRONG side.
They didn't skip 100. Does that mean that salvaged crates are pretty much a thing of the past?
The idea behind the salvaged crates still lives on, in a way. The last few normal crates have tiers of rarity, with the rarest being rereleases of old salvaged stranges or highly desired reskins.
Salvaged crates were a terrible idea anyways. Making some of the most popular stranges artificially rate for no reason sucks when you're collecting them.

This just in, company wishes to make money by providing free content alongside microtransactions

Too be fair they're more focused on microtransactions now than ever before - almost every new feature seems like a quick, low-effort cash grab.

Ah yes, the feature of competitive matchmaking will help fund so much money.
Or wait, maybe I'm mistaking it with how you need to own a pass to play the new community maps added in since Gun Mettle.
Wait, wait, I got it. They're going to make money from Mannpower! Right?
They clearly only made the Phlogistinator OP so that people would pay 10 bucks for it. Those sneaky sons of bitches.

To be fair I imagine Valve hopes matchmaking will increase the player base, and with more players the amount of money they make off the game.
But yeah I actually do agree with you, Valve did way better in 2015 then the past few years. Pretty much all of 2013 and 2014 felt like a low effort cash grab from Valve. 2015 (and 2016 so far) feels like a huge turn around from the dark days of 2013 and 2014 when it really felt like TF2 was dying and Valve was squeezing whatever profit they could from the game.

Hence the "almost".

No, but you need a pass to do campaigns on them. It seems the money from cases just wasn't enough for Valve.

I was referring to updates from Gun Mettle and beyond.

The money from the campaign passes is used to pay the community map makers for the maps in the campaign.
I'm feeling like this thread slowly starts to stink every time there's no TF2 update for like 1 week or more.
Like, all the topic are old or just overtalked, since we getting nothing from official sources.

"This thread and some of the TF2 facepunch topic being stinky partially because of you."
If you can't be good you can try your best to be contemptibly bad so we can get some sick bants at your expense.
Stop caring this much about ratings. If you can already tell it's going to get a bad reception don't post at all.
You've been on here since November and instead of adapting to improve you just get worse with each new post.
I think the proper term is "insane".
-snip-
I saw a thread on r/tf2 about the GL's non-existant loaded grenades and the whole 6 barrels/4 grenades situation, and it made me wonder...
With Gun Mettle's changes, did they technically have to re-model/re-compile all of the stock weapon models that received Decorated versions? Do the actual post-GM viewmodels differ subtly from pre-GM models or did they just add new inspect animations to them?
I'm asking because I've always felt like the stock SL viewmodel is a bit sharper and more detailed after Gun Mettle, and it's obvious how the Scottish Resistance and the Sticky Jumper started using the stock's base model post-GM and thus got a much higher level of detail (they were absolutely terrible-looking with a blocky-instead-of-round magazine before).
If they had to re-model/re-compile the stock GL in order to apply skins, strat-trackers and inspection animations to it for Tough Break, did they basically miss the chance to re-add the missing loaded pills and change the barrel count from 6 to 4?

I'm starting to wonder if Valve only have two artists in their entire company.
I think it's not the artists but the writers that they have very few of, they have Pinkerton (and Wolpaw, I assume) running on both TF2 and the Portal stuff (which is very funny, by the way). "Valve humour" is a great thing but as far as I can tell it only comes from a very small pool of people, so they get swamped.

Recompiling a model for a new texture, assuming they have the raw files (qc, dmx/smd, max/maya scenes, etc) can be done pretty quick.
Changing the mesh itself from 6 barrels to 4 would definitely take some time in a modeling program and need to be re-rigged, and possibly require a re-concept of the weapon. And fitting 4 barrels in a space that was taken up by 6 would take some thought to do it properly and not have it look goofy.
I could see why they wouldn't do this, especially if they already had a long list of default weapons to get skin-ready.

We didn't even get a "it's coming soon though!"
Now I'm guessing at least another 3-4 months. Might we get a full year gap between comics?
Honestly, i think that 4 grenades in 6 barrels is ok and would work even IRL, another thing is 3 grenades in 2 barrels...
The money from the campaign passes is used to pay the community map makers for the maps in the campaign.
I'm sure that like hats, Valve takes a significant percentage of the money and makes a profit from them.
I don't think the Lab came out of fucking nowhere for them, Jay straight up said the next one would be faster. Lord of bullshit

jay is the writer for the comics

3-4 months AT LEAST? There is a reason valve time exists as a thing.
jay is the writer for the comics
Ah, I couldn't remember whether or not he was the new colourist that was supposed to make the comics come out faster.
I don't really know much about the comic making progress, but does it take 8 months to write an ~80 page comic? Surely most of it's drawing what was written months ago before any art work was done?
