And people are reporting having tiny moments of lag when opening scoreboard again. Haven't tried it myself yet.
Im playing payload and im hearing scout lines ive never herd before... Edit: i found them on the wiki, "Yo, it should be goin' dat way!" and "What, ya guys give up?", maybe i just dont play on RED team as scout that much but i have never herd these lines.
Im playing payload and im hearing scout lines ive never herd before...
Care to go further into this? If you remember words, you can always check the wiki and search for them in the scout-lines page!
Those lines have been there forever. They play when the cart starts going backwards. But if it's "rare" lines you're after, go block the cart while it's being pushed. Sometimes, instead of playing the generic point defence line, the character will actually say a random unused attacking line.
If the CS:GO team can add a better codec, the TF2 team assuredly can
An item schema update was pushed just now, which fixes the team colors on the Patriot Peak.
Keep reading about how some people think TF2 is dead. Any ideas what Valve can do to really make the game really takeoff? Presumably something competitive based, but of course they could do to attract new players/older players back. And are they even trying to?
Seems the portraits and health bars from the competitive UI are loading when the scoreboard is prompted, even on pubs. Might be the source of the scoreboard lag.
Seems the portraits and health bars from the competitive UI are loading when the scoreboard is prompted, even on pubs. Might be the source of the scoreboard lag.
They can't go one fucking update without fucking up the mountain of madness that is TF2's code.
And are they even trying to?
Try isn't a word that's in Valve's lexicon.
Keep reading about how some people think TF2 is dead.
Of course it is. It died back in 2008 when Valve ruined it with their "unlock" bullshit. Give me vanilla or give me death.
Try isn't a word that's in Valve's lexicon.
With adding hydro back, adding animations to valve servers, and trying different things with matchmaking they certainly do seem to be trying. They have been consistently doing this for months, Can we stop acting like it's all some act and they are gonna immediately go back to nothing?
12v12 competitive is ridiculous, it wouldn't work. Imagine trying to have a lan, with 16 teams for example. You would need 192 people to show up:ohno: Not to mention having 8 spys and 4 snipers on your team during MM, it would be painful without class limits.
You can support 12v matchmaking without endorsing 12v competitive, to appease casual comp players while still focusing on 6v at a higher level Regardless I expect them to tinker with 12/9 but ultimately drop them to focus on 6

It may have something to do with people that are content with Valve's actions not saying anything, there's a term for it but I can't remember what it is. I think it goes "The (x) voices are the loudest".

Accepting community suggestions, accepting virtually ANY item updates (if submitted correctly), We should cherish this time because it might abruptly stop. If they went back to being silly with the blog and fixing larger bugs this would be the biggest year in tf2 since the early years of support and maintenance.
Seems the portraits and health bars from the competitive UI are loading when the scoreboard is prompted, even on pubs. Might be the source of the scoreboard lag.
Yeah, I noticed it when I was playing Doomsday earlier. Hitting Tab over and over show cased it. I also had a few instances where it showed the Bomb thing from training with the Graduation Cap on it as well. I actually think the portrait thing would be nice in normal matches too honestly. It does give off information that is actually helpful at least. More so when you run medic since it shows all living players and their current health standings are.
Of course it is. It died back in 2008 when Valve ruined it with their "unlock" bullshit. Give me vanilla or give me death.
do you legitemately believe tf2 would've survived this long with no unlocks? weapon unlocks, that is
do you legitemately believe tf2 would've survived this long with no unlocks? weapon unlocks, that is
I'll take "Sarcasm" for 400, Alex.
do you legitemately believe tf2 would've survived this long with no unlocks? weapon unlocks, that is
If anything it would be capable of surviving even more than it is now because it wouldn't be bogged down with code made of sticks and tape. CS doesn't have unlockable weapons, it's doing pretty good. (CSS and CSGO, CSS was doing pretty good right up to CSGO's launch).
The thing about this support is that we shouldn't be surprised that it's happening, it's not like the new Valve title has completely replaced this game development wise (Say, CS:S -> CS:GO), there should be updates to community run content. If they were to stop, they'd at least have to pretend that development is anything other than 'pathetically slow', because as it, the game is kinda an unoptimized trainwreck with features that have been in development for unacceptably long periods of time
I feel like they keep throwing in more and more possible ideas that they just ditch after it's initial release, without regard for optimizing the ideas already in place. It was only after Gun Mettle and Tough Break that i started noticing drops in performance, and while not huge, they're still enough to be considered a problem.

The intentions are good, but it makes you wonder if they are play-testing the game. The corrections can take a while to get pushed out unless someone holds Valve's hand.

They have been consistently doing this for months, Can we stop acting like it's all some act and they are gonna immediately go back to nothing?
Wow, adding a map that's existed for almost nine years into Valve server rotations? Whitelisting things that should have never been disallowed in the first place? That's the very definition of effort right there, I'm impressed. I'm sure it took them all of two excruciatingly long minutes. And it isn't as if the basic framework of matchmaking doesn't already exist in other Valve-made games. You act like they're reinventing the wheel with this latest incarnation. Oh, oops, silly me, the ability to doodle over the victory screen. How could I forget? I'm sure they devoted some hefty man-hours into coding that little feature; you know, the one everyone asked for. The one that's oh so necessary. Look, you can be pleased with these developments all you want, but let's not pretend they justify Valve's overlong development cycles, or provide evidence of sincere exertion. Could they be working on something bigger? Perhaps, but we won't know a thing about it until June-July--and that's a big if. Meanwhile, the game still runs like a car with four flat tires, several glaring balance issues need addressing, and not a thing has been done to fortify ailing community servers--all of these things being symptomatic of Valve's own missteps.

It's fantastic that the Patriot Peak is now Multi-Class, but they screwed up the Team Color on it: [T]http://images.akamai.steamusercontent.com/ugc/268338674586203111/A5B0ED4DE4704C50E0B235989CBC7A26C53D21F5/[/T]
i submitted an all class version for the hat that upset half of the soldier players back in 2013 looks dope on engi tho

I've noticed, that the competitive hud elements scale based on the playercount and winlimit. It's suprising from Valve that they made it dynamic, they usually don't think about things like these. [t]http://i.imgur.com/15Ylopq.jpg[/t] Also, payload maps now also work with stopwatch mode correctly in matchmaking mode. Previously the game ended after blue capped the 2nd point.
Keep reading about how some people think TF2 is dead. Any ideas what Valve can do to really make the game really takeoff? Presumably something competitive based, but of course they could do to attract new players/older players back. And are they even trying to?
I think the unlock system is stupid. It push idling and it doesn't push the player into winning and trying to be better. I've already said it a long time ago, but i wish the unlock wasn't random at all. It makes me sad to know that amazing item will never be worn for the only reasons that it's not worth anything. I hate trading honestly. It should be functioning because of the player taste. The classic way of trading : "Hey, i like your hat, i can give you this one for it! Or this one? :)" not like this "Hey, pls give me your hat for 1 ref, YOU WANT A HAT???? WHAT DO YOU THINK, THIS HAT IS WORTH NOTHING ON TF BACKPACK!!! NOOB!!!" I don't care if trading kept this game alive. It's stupid. It's ridiculous. It worked at first, but no more. Everyone should be equal in this game, everyone should have the hat they wish to get by working to get it. And for this, i suggest that there is "challenge" that player have to complete ; Those challenge would be for Weapon unlock. Then the hat would be about winning a round and a game! it could push player into winning the game to get a item, all likes in Rocket league (which do it perfectly in my opinion. Free customization if you win, and even if you don't win, you get a little something. See? It work!). Same thing for paint and unusual, they should be for the top player only. The mod makers shoud feel good to see that his item is atleast used and respected because that "economy" system would be unexistant. I feel the same for CSGO. I love many weapon's skin but everyone dislike them only because they are worth nothing. It's wrong. Well, of course, it will be VERY abused, so i suggest only valve's server can have this new unlock system. Imagine other server having 30 sec. limit time so people win/lose quickly to get item faster. Personally, i think the Item store would still be very useful for item unlock-pack, giving you a chance to unlock this item that you cant unlock now, all likes the pack in rocket league which as i said, is a perfect example of my system :)
Everyone should be equal in this game
That sounds like communism, pal, and we don't do that here.
