I can see why the original TF Team brought back 2Fort even if it's completely unbalanced in current TF2, that version of the game looks super fun and I imagine long slim corridors really added to it moreso than it does to current slow, methodical, team-based TF2.
It's a bit ironic that the two most popular (and also probably two most disliked since most people either love them or hate them lol) maps in TF2, Dustbowl and 2fort, are both actually from a different game (TFC).
after a couple days playing almost exclusively hydro ive gotten pretty good at predicting what route is being played before I even get out of spawn
also day 1 i found a really silly engi spot and some of you mightve seen... Yeah, cant really do that without a wrangler. Makes me wonder if anyone else really even found it? since hydro was almost totally discontinued before the wrangler was even added. Not much opportunity to play and find it.
Also If a spy tranquilizer hits you and there is no medics to be found, that's it, you're dead regardless of how many health packs you come into contact with
Did you mean gas grenades?
tfc nerd itt :v:
yeah it's crazy how fatter and slower everything is in TF2. If you spawn HL2 character models in tf2, you look like giants compared to them. I don't know why they thought the game needed its own scale.
Personally i like it. I dislike how that video is just a clusterfuck of jump. It don't belong in a FPS, fight are pretty strange in tfc. I understood literally nothing in this video. Seems like they throw their flags to each other and do hardcore rocket jump to get back at their base ?
Steel and Hydro are both really fun once you learn the layout and arrow placement, it just takes a bit of time is all.
On the subject of TFC and grenades, I would honestly have preferred if Mannpower was just "TF2 with Grenades" since it would be a lot more intriguing than "TF2 with grappling hooks and fixed power-ups", and even though it would be a clusterfuck most people would immediately know going into it that its a clusterfuck
If TF2 had to have grenade now, i'd like that they are not fragmentation grenade but grenade with some others effect than being lethal. Nail grenade by scout could make enemy slower, gas grenade by spy could make enemy dizzy, only soldier & pyro could have lethal grenade : napalm/frag :p
and that grenade can only be retaken from spawn lockers so it's not a clusterfuck of grenade (ESPECIALLY IN THE 2FORT TFC WHERE THE CORRIDORS TO GET TO THE FLAG WAS ABSOLUTELY GETTING SPAMMED)
didnt TF2's original release have bhopping or am i mistaken?
didnt TF2's original release have bhopping or am i mistaken?
It wasn't as bhopy as TFC's bhop afaik
EDIT: Pretty much any Source game has some sort of bhop, but while in some games it's very big part of the gameplay (Fortress Forever) in other games it's very limited and pain in the butt to pull off properly (CS:GO)
Hell, TF2 still has Bunnyhop. It's just so insignificant and hard to consistently pull off that it's not worth the effort.

It's pretty simple. You grab the flag and try to escape. However if you notice that there is no way out you simply try to throw the flag further to your base.
And here is a video about FPS and bunnyhop:

For as long as rd_asteroid is in beta.

Hasn't been updated in 20 months.
Asteroid is such a fucking bizarre case. They spend months and months making big changes to it, then tweaking it. They make it playable, balanced and fun. They start on arguably the best artpass in the game, making it look really unique and pleasant to look at. Then they just straight up drop it and never finish it. Then they make a half-baked mess of a gamemode, Mannpower. It has some fun mechanics but it ultimately cuts out half of TF2's gameplay and replaces it with gimmicks. Then they make a throwaway map for it that has hands-down the worst artpass of any official map, and launch it. Like, what the hell is up with their priorities? It'd probably have been less work to just finish the rest of the RED side of the asteroid base, mirror it and swap the colors, and we would have ended up with a far more enjoyable gamemode.
yeah, the problems of tf2 i noticed is that they never come back into what they already made. They don't polish the game. I would loved that they finish translate (even if that's a other thing than the game) the voicelines/meet the and expiration date (french voice are funny), that they fix those hat without low model, that they finally get to make item's description again (just take the one included in the workshop page..) that they fix the cosmetic systems and the faceflex system. Basically just fix/polish what is already ingame!
I remember seeing the first art for asteroids with the rancho relaxo being teased. I think the maps are getting better and better graphic-wise, suijin being one example. rd_ is a pretty cool gamemode, sad they didn't even bother with it anymore. It's doomsday and hydro once again maybe?
I still support the theory of "it's actually done, they're just waiting for a relevant update to throw it out with. "
...such as the ending of the TF comic, in which we've already saw Sniper's mother go into space.
Can they even fix hat LODs without permission of item creators that have fallen off the face of the earth?

No please! Those can't just be the TRUE sniper parents ! They were just ridiculous, i felt good to learn that sniper atleast had a good childhood. Really, his true parents wasn't likable at all. They weren't funny.
But that twist tho.. holy shit. I felt bad for the sniper when i saw Meet the sniper after that. He didn't deserved that.

I don't see how wrong it could be. And they agreed to give valve's property of their creation when they accepted to integrate their item ingame and get a cut of the money.
But i don't understand, it should be the modders work to just make their hat optimized and fixed ingame, Valve shouldn't fix every shit item's creator makes and get in game.

If the label on the box where the australium spawns in doomsday is correct, they might just have her blow up and never mention it again

From the steam workshop agreement:
Notwithstanding the license described in Section 6.A., Valve will only have the right to modify or create derivative works from your Workshop Contribution in the following cases: (a) Valve may make modifications necessary to make your Contribution compatible with Steam and the Workshop functionality or user interface, and (b) Valve or the applicable developer may make modifications to Workshop Contributions that are accepted for in-Application distribution as it deems necessary or desirable to enhance gameplay.
Out of courtesy to the item creators, they haven't really been exercising their right to do this...aside from the Last Breath's early iterations.
I wish I had the opportunity to even try rd_asteroid. Last I tried it still crashes on my OS.

At a guess, the Mannpower map Hellfire.

I was thinking powerhouse, but that map looks pretty good.
I was thinking powerhouse, but that map looks pretty good.
Yeah, Powerhouse is an awesome map.
Hellfire's definitely extremely...basic.
It's not that TF2 maps need loads of visual clutter and props everywhere (stuff like Kong King, Watergate and Probed probably take things a bit too far in that regard), but Hellfire's just very dull and empty, and lacks detail at every turn. There's loads of tunnels, rooms and caves with virtually not a single prop that would indicate it's a doomsday/spybase complex that's actually functional and being used for anything. Many of the room layouts and doors/entrances make absolutely no sense, because it's a map custom-bult for grapple hooking around, and it ends up looking and feeling like something that you'd never see in regular TF2. In a bad way.
Some of the lower areas (where the lava and fireballs are) look like something from a custom map for 90s/early 2000s shooters like Quake or Unreal Tournament. In fact, the whole map has that barren, empty, no-equipment, ''complex doesn't make sense'' feel to it from old-school 90s shooters.
Compare it to something like Hydro, which is also fairly low on visual clutter, but it's still gorgeous in its spare application of detail and props, and it definitely feels like a real-world spytech complex that looks like it could be used by real people.
EDIT: Hellfire also has that central lava pit where you can fall into a crack (the one that shoots fireballs out of it occasionally) and end up falling beneath the map. It looks dodgy and broken/unfinished.
I have probably played Powerhouse an unspeakable amount of times
