So it's a question about "When can we release it?" :v:? Wow. is it possible to replace a weapon skins (the colored weapon skins, not the weapon itself) by another weapon from the workshop? Are they different from stock weapon excepted it's only the material that change?
Well the trouble is that there's not actually any real official support for workshop skins afaik. Now it's still really easy to make them because you just replace the texture of a weapon skin with your own one, and it behaves exactly the same as whatever skin you replaced. The problem is that since other weapons don't actually have skins yet, there's no way to replace the textures in a way that resembles current weapon skin systems. You'd have to straight-up edit the skin of the weapon you want to skin and try to make it look like what a campaign skin would look like. That's a hell of a lot more work than just making a square texture that the game automatically overlays like a normal skin, plus it's not guaranteed to match up with how Valve eventually decide to split up the textures on that gun. Ultimately I really doubt Valve will implement workshop skins for unlocks until they've skinned that particular gun themselves.
You didn't understood my question. I meant, Is the "Stock sniper rifle" different than the "Skinned Stock Sniper rifle" so i don't have to replace the other non stock sniper rifle when i want to put a new weapon in my game ?
Skinned weapons use the same model as the unskinned one, if that's what you're asking. Only the texture is changed. If you replace the Sniper Rifle with a custom model, it'll also replace all the skinned ones (and the skin textures probably won't show up any more, either, unless the model's set up for skins)

After playing some Overwatch I can def say it's worse than TF2. I only mention this because they are always compared and shit but everything overwatch does I feel TF2 does better. The maps in Overwatch are like playing the worst maps in TF2 but only playing those ever and they're probably worse than even those maps too. The guns feel like shit because you feel no impact from shooting like how TF2's rocket launcher has a nice feel to it as in it feels powerful, Overwatch's rocket launcher feels like a potato gun if even. Overwatch feels really poorly balanced compared to TF2 with half of the characters being garbage with the other half feeling way too good. Granted all this said both games are fun but I gotta say everyone that is "scared that Overwatch will kill TF2" is wrong because it won't and if it stays how it is now Overwatch will last about as long as Titanfall in terms of playbase consistency
I hate to be the hypocrite here but.. A+ speculation, wowie. [Editline]May 2016 [/editline] Really adds to the "TF2 dying/Cosmetic Change/Overwatch/Occasional Update smalltalk" Thread
oh shit i thought this was the general thread lemme snip and move to general lol

Your opinion on the game's balance is meaningless. For all we know you played against bots the entire time.
Overwatch is s fine, fun game, but it definitely lacks that feeling I get when playing TF2
It's too early to judge whether Overwatch is as bad as it is, people have yet to get their directions and are mostly just in awe from all the eyecandy at this point. If anything I'd wait a month after the game's actual release, that's when we can expect Blizzard to get eaten alive.
It needs more game modes. A Capture the Flag or Search and Destroy type thing, just to give it an ounce more variation. I've played for less than a day and I've already seen every map/played every mode. It's fun, but I can definitely see it getting repetitive; TF2's got nearly a decade head's start, but as it is right now in time, it's got way more content. Not exactly fair to compare the two, but TF2 is gonna hold my interest more than Overwatch unless they start pumping out quality updates real soon, ala Splatoon.
stop talking about overwatch

I'm not going to suck Overwatchs dick but come on, map variety? Tf2 launched with half as many maps
I'm not going to suck Overwatchs dick but come on, map variety? Tf2 launched with half as many maps
It had community mod support
And had like, two custom map that were actually played for like three months after launch. Tf2 modding was super slow outside of lame fpsbanana skins
Overwatch has no other direction than superhero, they badly forcefully integrated country in this game, badly.
Okay last point about the game but seriously? What did you know about the now super fleshed out characters at the launch of TF2, Spy? French and has a silly laugh. Heavy? Russian and dumb. I adore TF2 but come on guys
It had community mod support
That's one of the things that bothers me the most about not only Overwatch but other online games as a whole, modding scenes seem entirely dead for them when they contribute greatly to a game's longevity
Even Valve have sorta made modding obfuscated with engine updates, though what we have seen of S2 looks sorta promising
...In overwatch killstreaks are free :v: This is a step up!
Overwatch has no other direction than superhero, they badly forcefully integrated country in this game, badly.
You need to stop talking about things you think you understand but don't. Russian and dumb. I adore TF2 but come on guys
Actually, Overwatch has basically the same character designs as TF2, but in a Golden/Silver-Age Comic Book Era universe instead of a 60's Spy Film universe. Old guy in a mechsuit that's loud, fights for justice, and loves to pose, Spry British Girl who can go really fast, Dark edgelord in an all-black suit and white bird-like mask who shouts "DIE, DIE, DIE, DIE, DIE" during his ult and is almost comical, it all wouldn't look too out of place if it wasn't for the vastly differing look and much more fleshed out to the point of each character basically having their own novel dedicated to telling their story.
Overwatch has no other direction than superhero, they badly forcefully integrated country in this game, badly.
I swear I felt like I was having a stroke when I read this.

The competitive community only exacerbated this pre-existing gaffe by converting so many players to Yet Another Generic Scout/Soldier/Demoman Main. It's revolting honestly, and I cringe every time I see friends beguiled by "the only skillful/worthwhile classes."
They were simple. Blizzard tried too hard to make up a backstory for their character.
I've seen all of three trailers and as far as I can tell: Former organization of heroes and mercs forced into retirement and now they're not... seems pretty simple to me.
Guys seriously, Overwatch ain't god-awful or the best vidja gaem ever. It's pretty cool, but does not seem like it will be a replacement for TF2 in my opinion. I am sure a TF2 fan would not like Overwatch as much as they like TF2 anyway, as they are really different games. Ok back to speculating about TF2

Russian and dumb. I adore TF2 but come on guys
The character bios provided at the time actually gave them a bit more depth beyond just voicelines and responses. They aren't as fleshed out as they are now (and even then I wouldn't consider a lot of the TF2 cast to be fleshed out) but they certainly had their own quirks that made them stand out without being too annoying. Also,
Heavy? Russian and dumb.
[thumb]http://i.imgur.com/3vFSSeX.png[/thumb]
Overwatch manages to have 21 distinctive characters and already feels more balanced than TF2's lamebrained Generalist vs. Specialist dichotomy.
"Feels" doesn't hold that much weight, especially when we consider the game's been available for several hours thus far.
I never said it was a conclusive determination. Even if there were several heroes comparitively less effective than their counterparts, there's at least one or two respectable representatives for each role--which is more than I can say for TF2.
