Sorry if this is stupid, but would this be able to get us SFM stuff currently unreleased, i.e. the Meet the Sniper theme?
I doubt it, as I tried to download using the DepotID: 1841
And I always get Unable to find any Steam2 content servers for depot 1841, version 0
so I'm guessing SFM is on the Steam3 Servers.
it's more enjoyable and balanced than PC even if it has some glitches.
Hahaha. Six demo nades and modded lobbies is some serious balance in there.
I just love the Facepunch community.

Is that it's speed in game? If so I think it should be really fast like those mechanical teeth.
Hahaha. Six demo nades and modded lobbies is some serious balance in there.
Xbox is patched so that he only has 4 nades, and modded lobbies were patched (you'd very rarely find a game with small console command changes like low gravity or all crits, but that's pretty much it),They added something for the xbox version allow host to choose class restrictions, so people would do stupid shit like host engineer only matches, but once you find a normal server, it's fun (which is also the case for PC with its hundreds of modded servers). PS3 is the one that has 6 demo nades and more glitches, don't know why valve didn't patch that.
Anyway, can you actually play in on this old version or TF2, or can you just snoop through the files?

I could imagine that being a weapon. Basically a bear trap that hurts whoever steps on it and gets them stuck for a few seconds. Would be a good secondary replacement for Sniper or Engi, or maybe even heavy since he's a defensive class. I'd say demo could have a bear trap launcher, but that wouldn't fit his demolitions role. Maybe if there was a tnt on it to make it like some kind of makeshift mine.
Makeshift beartrap landmine launcher actually sounds like a good idea for a new sticky launcher replacement..

I'd prefer their original intent myself - as caltrops
I uh got it working a tiny bit it starts up but then crashes and shows me this crash log:
hl2_3755_crash_2013_5_7T19_29_58C0 (29_58C0 changes every launch)
Anyone know how to fix this? MAYBE il'l make it running.
If I remember right, TF2's SDK is currently busted.
If I remember right, TF2's SDK is currently busted.
Not if you change the directory.
Not if you change the directory.
It can't read the vpk still. You have to dump everything in your TF2 folder. valve said like 5 days ago that it would be fixed in a week.
It's funny how Valve didn't realize they'd break the Development Kit (which they did)... However, I doubt they'll ever add Mac support despite promising it three years ago

Should I put the swords on the table again or
well Valve is working it. They just released a beta SDK for TF2
https://developer.valvesoftware.com/wiki/SDK_Installation
So uh guys can anybody help me with the error above again? It seems like everybody is ignoring it and rating it optimistic.
switch to the beta sdk and try again. the one in the default launcher is busted

Because the PS3 version was ported by EA. That was back when Gabe hated the PS3, so Valve probably didn't really care about whether the PS3 version even existed

Not meaning to derail the thread, but:
EA literally had (has) full control over the PS3 version, and it was their responsibility to keep it updated and host its servers. EA still hosts a few servers for it, but they only ever put out one update which fixed some minor network-related bugs. And that's it. They just completely gave up.
It's so sad, too. They don't even have to update it, they just need to change the servers to sv_cheats 0. But the servers are, for some reason, running sv_cheats 1, so you can literally edit your save file config and bind cheats to your controller. The last time I tried that version, I joined and couldn't leave spawn because someone had noclipped in and was backstabbing everyone. When I did manage to escape, there was nothing to fight for because they ent_removed both intels. :v:
Once EA finally decides to kaput the last few servers for it, that version will be dead forever. The 360 version will theoretically live on as long as Xbox Live continues to support 360 games, since it's peer-to-peer. Smart move on Valve's part. (Same goes for L4D/L4D2 360.)
If people can login to Steam through their PS3's, why can't Valve make it so that PS3 Steam users can use the Steam version of TF2?
If people can login to Steam through their PS3's, why can't Valve make it so that PS3 Steam users can use the Steam version of TF2?
because ps3 doesn't have good enough specs to run tf2, probably. I know the xbox lags like hell in some times, like a heated match of dustbowl.

It's not the specs, it's the CPU being pants-on-head retarded. If it was rewritten to take proper advantage of the CELL or whatever the fuck it is, it'd probably run beautifully.

Steam isn't on PS3 as its own app; it's only embedded into Portal 2. They would have to make a new version of TF2 that has the Steam overlay built in. Not to mention the end result you're asking for is impossible, as outlined below:

I'm not so sure at this point. The PS3 isn't really more powerful than 360 depending on what type of hardware demands the software is making, and the 360 version was reportedly maxing out what power they could pull from it. I recall they said so in a blog post, and that was why it never got any content updates.
It's especially impossible to catch up to the PC version now: you may not realize it, but the PC version has a -LOT- more stuff it has to process in a typical game compared to what the game was like when it launched. There are literally hundreds more items (Have we hit 500 hats/miscs yet? If not, we're probably close.) meaning hundreds of models and textures to deal with, some very high-quality compared to the original set of assets. Those old consoles simply can't do it, and TF2 as it exists on PC can never exist on current-gen consoles. The optimization work that would make all that content work would literally destroy the visual style with how low-res they'd have to make it.
What I always thought would be cool is if they refined the PC's gameplay content down into a basic form; add all the weapons (possibly with simplified or entirely redone models [especially for promos]), simplify particle effects, and add all the maps/gamemodes. Do away with backpacks, just let everyone select any weapon. No hats. Add all bugfixes and optimize performance. Then the console version would catch up, in my opinion.
...but that basically means they'd have to remake the entire game. That's a LOT of work, especially to bring a free-to-play PC game to consoles (possibly at a standard one-time cost model again, since there's no item system to capitalize on) with an arguably watered-down experience. Not exactly something I'd imagine would rake in enough money to balance the work put into it. It's fun to be about it, though.
So, is this a TF2 PS3 thread now or what?
So, is this a TF2 PS3 thread now or what?
Well, it's pretty much [sp]100%[/sp] the same thing, so yeah.
OK so I got pointed to this:
I have some very rare demos that I think a lot of the community would enjoy seeing (the first 6v9 event that happened on the Steam forums) that were never recorded or uploaded to YouTube. Supposedly this method would allow me to download any version of TF2 according to the OP?
So is it possible for me to get the February 24th, 2010 version of TF2? It is version 1.0.8.3 on torrent sites, and all the torrents/urls to this version are now long dead and so there's no way to get this version. I need this version, as this is back when TF2 had a shitty demo system that broke demos after every update, the February 23rd, 2010 version won't work (since the 24th update changed pills slightly) and the update after the 24th version won't work (nerfed Equalizer).
I would like to make these demos and this match not lost to time, but short of asking Valve to help me in this endeavour (which I doubt they would), I'm stumped.
ok I just want to mention that the Bear Trap will unfortunately not be Team-colored due to the way the Flying Guillotine works.
But on the other hand I got Gintoki Sakata to do this :V so I guess it's okay that it's not teamcolored right?
Well that sucks about the team coloring. But hey, Demoman with dynamite! Looking good!
ok I just want to mention that the Bear Trap will unfortunately not be Team-colored due to the way the Flying Guillotine works.
I don't see what's the problem, doesn't mentioning 2 materials in the qc(s, thinking you're making two models) work?
