I actually did some mod work ages ago which replaced our current backpack icons with live model previews (since I've had copies of old TF2 versions backed up even before this download method was found). ...and it's actually a horrible idea, because a lot of models are rotated wrong or at weird angles. Not to mention attachments don't work, so Natascha, Backburner, Kritzkrieg, etc. don't look different. The icon system is way better.
I can only imagine how bad the hatless hat icons could be.
I can only imagine how bad the hatless hat icons could be.
They simply don't have icons. :v:
To what the depots tell me thise are very old beta models, they whont even open in the sdk, for eveything else when scrpits are put in the old player sounds will replace all classes all the weapons that are in this beta turn out invisable but all in all im happy :D

Ah, I remember the days of achievement servers and such. Before everybody idled and hats existed, etc.
You almost never see any of those old achievement servers anymore. I know of about 2, the rest are all inappropriately named 'achievement_idle_blahblahblah'
I still host one every Tuesday night (PST) on this old map. It's set up with 11 named bots and a modified CTX that makes the knife stab stuff ten times per second. :v:
now we just need loadingue to do his end
I thought you already had everything you need... Ah doesn't matter, I'll get to it now. I should be done in a hour or so.
I thought you already had everything you need... Ah doesn't matter, I'll get to it now. I should be done in a hour or so.
yeah i realised how stupid my post was lol
Reminds me of when their was only one backpack page. [t]http://i.minus.com/iSXXxPQBLROP.PNG[/t]
How about back when the Camera Beards dropped as commonly as weapons (and could be crafted as such)? When I think of how many I casually crafted together for mere scrap... ugh.
How about back when the Camera Beards dropped as commonly as weapons (and could be crafted as such)? Ok, I've done it. I've put all the "leftovers" from the Beta into one folder. It contains stuff like beta Machete, beta Flamethrower, all the missing textures for the Beta weapons (grenades, Tranquilizer etc), other random stuff not found in normal TF2, nothing new in short. And it's about 40 Mo, uncompressed. Only the things not found in current TF2. Upload or not?
Reminds me of when their was only one backpack page. [t]http://i.minus.com/iSXXxPQBLROP.PNG[/t]
So many off-leveled weapons gone with the wind. I'd be mildly richer if I kept them.
Proceed.
Yessir https://www.dropbox.com/s/0aeykz09txl1j8h/TF2BetaLeftovers.rar Tell me if it doesn't work, Dropbox's acting strange.
Ah, I remember the days of achievement servers and such. You got an achievement, achievement!), item drops, idling etc etc etc existed. The game was so much better back then, wish they'd just stuck to bug fixes and map updates. Sometimes simpler really is better. I'm deathly curious to see what else comes of this 'version 0' stuff, oh the memories. I would love nothing more than for Valve to create a proper official 'Classic' TF2 mode that servers could run...

It'd be nice to have certain servers that run the vanilla version, without changes like engineer building carrying and the heavy's increased move speed, but if that was the whole game people would've just gotten tired of it ages ago.
I would love nothing more than for Valve to create a proper official 'Classic' TF2 mode that servers could run...
There are tons of 'vanilla' servers and no-one gives a shit about them because it's boring as fuck.

I see a w_bottle_broken.mdl (Seperate broken version of Demo's Scrumpy), but I'm abit stunned over how Garry never bothered to update the TF2 spawnlists to exclude this seperate model
There are tons of 'vanilla' servers and no-one gives a shit about them because it's boring as fuck.
AFAIK, most ''vanilla'' servers are just servers with sv_pure set to 2. But that might just be saigns.de servers and no sane person should play on those in the first place.
We need to decompile the beta models so we can use them in regular tf2, the problem is the models are in a old format hopefully those models are the "beta" I'm thinking. (2006) as well as the weapons :) so is anyone up for the challenge of decompiling those models
