When I'm trying to dl this, its saying that it cannot find any steam2 content servers for depot 440, version 0. Did they delete it? I'm using depotdownloader.exe -depot 440 -version 0.
If I recall correctly, someone said that Source games moved to Steampipe so Valve could get rid of Steam2 content servers. I could be wrong, tho.
edit: its not beta vox_ lied to us ,its just a very unfinished knife animation by valve
It's not by Valve, it was a broken skin on gamebanana. It's why it didn't work online.
I hate vox_ he lied to me about the damn missing maps, I am tired of that kid.
yep that guy is a total ass cock, but atleast he is putting out beta skins on a daily basis, but he makes what ever i want, any mod beta or not, p.s your concept palyers, will they be released on facepunch since you got banned,in going to try and un ban you
shoveling out beta skins on a daily basis is not really a positive, since some of his work are really low-quality
i know that but some of them are good like the medic backpack. but he dose use paint when he can use PS how lazy
We do not need a repeat of the badbanana thread and just bash one user, move along men quietly
shoveling out beta skins on a daily basis is not really a positive, since some of his work are really low-quality
Yes, but I just hope he doesn't reupload my stuff that I gave him or anything. Ever since I got banned, I feared people that were testing WIPS of mine were going to upload unfinished products onto GB and claim it theirs. He does pretty bad skinning, and he lies about his beta content, it is all pretty annoying honestly, and if he uploads MY concept art skins, that will put the icing on the cake.

Did using depotdownloader worked on source filmmaker?
So is it wirez if someone uploads the early versions files? Maybe we should ask eric or something.
Why would it be warez? Files that were distributed an extremely long time ago are still distributed files. Everyone had access to them then, why can't we access them now? It's not like you're posting a pirated copy of something.
So is it wirez if someone uploads the early versions files? Maybe we should ask eric or something.
Well the game IS free now
I did a comparison of the contents of these version 0 gcfs and the contents of TF2 from Orange Box DVD that was played by quite a few people here. There are some differencies but nothing significant. I didn't test anything in-game since v0 GCFs are missing server binary. team fortress 2 content.gcf v0. Compared to Orange Box DVD: - Server binary (tf\bin\server.dll) is missing. The game doesn't work without it. - dxsupport_override.fg is different - Very minor differencies in sizes of all maps except for cp_dustbowl and background01 - Missing node graph and soundcache files - v0 GCF doesn't have localization files for any languages other than English, French, German, Dutch and Russian - Different models: sentry2_heavy, sentry3_heavy, soldier and sniper - Video demonstration files of the maps are larger in v0 GCF. I've played them and they look same. Final videos probably have better compression. - Missing model of some barn - Some particle files are different - tf_weapon_grenadelauncher.ctx in scripts folder is different. Doubt it's 6-grenade clip, I've put it in a newer version and GL still has 4 grenades in its clip. - Missing scenes.image team fortress 2 materials.gcf v0 - Few insignificant textures are different - v0 GCF has textures of scrapped weapons (grenades, nailgun, etc) team fortress 2 client content.gcf v0 - tf\bin\client.dll is completely identical to the one from Orange Box DVD So yeah, nothing of interest except for scrapped weapon textures.
It would be interesting if valve released... I don't know, like a celebratory video where they explain more deeply the first versions of the game like Invasion
It would be interesting if valve released... -snip because all the traffic to my site really jacked the servers that I run up-
Playable version of Version 0 TF2 is available through my site, though some people report having problems with it not starting due to some objects.txt file missing (even though it's in there). I remember having a similar issue though I can't remember how I fixed it. Also, that old TF2 Gaben Alpha with the invasion models is on my site as well. TF2 Beta & Cut Content Directory @ UNFGaming.net How is it playable? Two friends of mine (TheRubberFruitFace & Firebeast) took DLLs from a newer version and did some kejiggering and got it working. Some things were missing (such as the Scout's face texture) so that stuff was added into the Version 0 release. There's also apparently some custom stuff in there added by Rubber and Fire, so yeah.... Oh, and more fun stuff in the materials/models/sounds/particles folders like the Valve-made Nailgun viewmodel (in broken-as-heck and fixed-by-Paysus flavours), a broken-as-heck Tranquilizer viewmodel with no anims and no spy arm, Nailgun firing/crit firing/draw sounds and a bunch of other stuff Valve removed from the game as well as some stuff that I put in there that isn't really used ingame but that I fear may be removed at some point. Coming soon: ZIP file containing everything in the materials/models/sounds/particles folders. I also have the 2006/2007 TF2 source code leak (has tons of neat code pertaining to scrapped weapons though most of the code for them is in an unfinished state), but I won't be releasing it on my site because I don't want to anger Valve. I mean, there's no source code pertaining to backpacks or the Mannconomy update or anything of that nature, but still. I'd rather be safe and not release it.
Care to explain where did you take the engine files that are used for playable version 0 archive? version command says "Exe build: Sep 21 2007". [editline]7th June 2014[/editline] Also, there's not much differencies from TF2 extracted from Orange Box, but your version 0 is a bit more glitchy and incomplete. And you should have removed config.cfg from the archive.

If you really want that info, contact either Firebeast or TheRubberFruitFace (they're both on my Steam friends list). And yeah, same for the glitchiness, I'm not sure why it's glitchy at times. EDIT: Had to disable access to my public files due to all the people hitting it up and downloading shit causing my server and the servers of the people I host to be incredibly laggy. Basically right now it's not public but on a request basis. If you need something, let me know on Steam.
Hey everybody, I just downloaded version 0 (first version uploaded to steam servers) of tf2. Apparently when valve updates tf2, they don't delete any old versions from their servers. I couldn't get it to load any maps without crashing. (pretty much everything crashed it.) I will be uploading some unused files, you can make requests too, I'll do what I can. The program I used is called DepotDownloader (https://bitbucket.org/VoiDeD/steamre/downloads)
Thanks man! I have been looking all over the place for this.
The muzzle flash from the 2006 E3 demo is still in the game
The muzzle flash from the 2006 E3 demo is still in the game
It's been there since 2006. Everyone knows this. There have been multiple mods on GameBanana restoring the old muzzleflash model via CTX edits.

So, how might one go about downloading the depots this time around? Reading through the earlier parts of the thread talk about an exe thats not present in the new download of the tool.
oh, nevermind, it just linked to the wrong part of the github [editline]11th November 2014[/editline] still no idea how to work this. tutorials posted in the thread come up not working Oh, i have to build from source. Fuck

Fuck
If you're still wanting Version 0: http://www.unfgaming.net/archives/TF2%20Version%200%20GCFs.zip Version 0 GCF files are up there if you want 'em. Also, for anyone wanting to download the entirety of my archives or just a few select things, you can do so now by using the checkboxes that appear when you hover over a folder or item. Once you've checked off what you want, check the page header (where you see "filter" and the various icon sizes and layouts). You'll see a new Download option appears and that'll generate a ZIP file for you containing everything you selected. DepotDownloader is a bit fucky now, but I believe I still have the old pre-built version that I can probably toss up on my site as well.
tempted to try this just to get some nostalgia with the sniper rifle random crits
DepotDownloader is a bit fucky now, but I believe I still have the old pre-built version that I can probably toss up on my site as well.
That would be pretty good.
Old versions of DepotDownloader don't work anyway.
Old versions of DepotDownloader don't work anyway.
Does this mean that the newer versions work in that case? I've been told that they don't work.
Does this mean that the newer versions work in that case? I've been told that they don't work.
They do but you can't download old depot versions anymore.
They do but you can't download old depot versions anymore.
*pre Steampipe. You can download post-SteamPipe depots. Also, http://www.unfgaming.net/downloads/DepotDownloader.zip . Old version from before VoiDeD made a new repo. Fully compiled and should be in working order. Instructions on how to use it are all over the web. Depot IDs are easily locatable on SteamDB.info Instructions on how to use it, quoted from a post on TeamFortress.tv forums
Using depotdownloader is actually really easy. Make a text file, paste something like this, DepotDownloader -cellid 0 -depot 441 -version 39 -manifest -dir "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common" Rename it to a .bat file, put it in the same folder as depotdownloader.exe and run the .bat file. The difficult part is knowing which tf2 / source depot you want to download. I started this ages ago but haven't got around to filling it in for a long while.
