oh I decompiled the 2fort map; exact same.
everything is likely to be exactly the same, since this is before the public beta it'd be neat if it had the old head models though
The lighwrap is working fine? I want to test to use as a mod
Link to the materials folder here (300 MB), if anyone wants to dig around. I haven't looked at anything besides verifying that the aforementioned beta textures are there.
actually when you try and record gameplay of tf2 in source filmmaker you load up and play the very first release version of tf2. i figured you could probably get the exact same files out of that...? i kinda thought this was common knowledge
oh I decompiled the 2fort map; exact same.
Wasn't there a balance issue (fixed long ago) on 2fort's battlements regarding the props on the main spawn's side?
Can't figure out, what are you talking about 2fort. And I'm afraid to use DepotDownloader, can you just upload the old maps anywhere? Wanna see this myself
What does the Sound Folder contain? Any unused sounds or something interesting? Either way it would be good to see the folder from V0 pasted on here so we can check.
Yeah, there's a bunch of placeholder voices in the /player sub directory, nothing too special though. If I had to date this version I'd probably say it was uploaded to the servers just months before the actual public beta. Most of the goods have been gutted out already, we're just lucky enough to get these weapon textures. Here's a very simple batch script to plop in Depot Downloader's folder to get the stuff yourself: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/35908723/donk.bat Turns out you don't need to use the username and password commands to get it. [editline]whoop aw aw[/editline] Here, have some unused textures: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/35908723/TF2/lost_textures_tf2v0.rar Could be good for machinima purposes, just drop in your usermod folder Gmod and SFM users.
Well either way as soon as I get the chance I will be working on a shitton of Beta mods with these weapons. I need something to do while I wait for the RPG to be finished. Here are my ideas: MIRV & Dynamite Pack - since Grenade Launcher is now C_Animations I'll do them for Ullapool Caber (gonna try and give them the Botkiller Jigglebone) Bear Trap - Flying Guillotine (might try and have it do a chomping animation when flying at an enemy) Concussion - Sandman Baseball EMP - Sapper Frag - Not sure yet. Gas - Jarate Heal (those textures are shit btw) - Mad Milk (only weapon you can throw and have it heal you in some way) Nail - I had the idea of making Heavy use it as some sort of Minigun replacement. Will look weird yeah but I don't have a better idea besides making it a Sandwich. Napalm - Flareguns Pipebomb - Stachekip wanted to make these and they're for Grenade Launcher. Nailgun - Pocket Pistol (because fuck C_animations) Leadpipe - Frying Pan (cause the Freedom Staff is harder to get) Tranquilizer - Revolver (new animations) or L'etranger (depends on if default Revolver animations looks good for it) Misc ideas: Demoman - Pipebomb, Dynamite Sticks, MIRV or Dynamite Pack strapped to his chest (or all of them) Solder - Beta Grenades Pyro - Napalm grenades & Dynamite Stick replacement (Reason why will be shown once I do that mod)
i whish see pl_upward with all it's old exploits!
i whish see pl_upward with all it's old exploits!
Watch then on youtube
Seeing all this makes me wonder if Valve would totally object to the idea of allowing a small number of people legitimate access to the pre-trailer builds to shed some light on the very early development process of the game, as well as allow the community access to official unused content for modding or machinima. I'm sure the Wiki team would love the extra details too. As many times as things have been stolen from Valve, do you think anyone's just outright asked?
Watch then on youtube
well... look at my youtube channel...
Has anyone tried using this method to get new SFM files? I know we already got the ones from Meet the Medic, but maybe there's more laying around in Steam's servers. [editline]today[/editline] I just realized there's also a chance to get the unused WAR! update domination sounds downloading another build. Sad my internet is shit atm and can barely download TF2 v0 :c
Maybe in version 0 (Private Steam Testing Probatly) of Source Filmmaker there were available all assets meet the medic maps, projects etc. Somebody should try download it. Also: How can i get depot id for Source Filmmaker?
I want the ORIGINAL development version, where it still looked like TFC/HL1.

There's nothing really interesting. Sure the mechanics was different but it looks eh. TF2: Invasion was much cooler [sp](And I heard somewhere that "error.mdl" in TF2: Invasion build is a huge red word "PENIS")[/sp]
I'm just obsessed with GoldSrc. I want more mods for it. (postal would understand)
The v0 models use IDST- instead of IDST0. Do they have a different in-house version of Source?
Does this mean we can download the private TF2 Beta from 2009, when they where testing the GRU and the Fire Suit? I think there was stuff like an Engineer wrench, and weapons we don't even know.

Although it's risky so it would be better using a dummy account.
Tried doing that. Won't work unless you have an account with tf2 beta in it. Although it's risky so it would be better using a dummy account.
I'm pretty sure using the 520 AppID (TF2 Beta), is only the open beta.

The above mentioned one was Blue's wall on the battlements was slightly raised, and you could see the feet of Blue snipers. All of that should still be there in the Xbox version
Holy shit, we can call up any version of TF2 ever from the servers now? (Sorry, I'm late to this stuff; I don't browse around here very often anymore.) Does this mean I can finally blam my legendarily massive and unreasonably huge collection of old GCFs from my HDD? That'll free up SO much space! Reminds me of the old days where random people would pop up all the time on Steam and ask me for old files since they knew I held onto them. Karma Police even made me a theme song called "Shugo the GCF Time Warrior" two years ago. I remember it all the time because for some reason, after I put it into my music collection, Windows took its album art and applied it to literally every artless song in my entire library. :suicide:
I'm pretty sure using the 520 AppID (TF2 Beta), is only the open beta.
That's what I did. And it's not really "open", it's only available to people who have a premium version of tf2. Therefore downloading the depot without inserting user credentials (of an account with premium tf2 on it) won't work.

How 'bout that version ? Since some players played it (dunno if it's at Valve...), we can maybe find it no ?

I've never seen this video before, though. Some interesting differences scattered throughout.
