LMAOBOX is finally dead. Valve takes a stance against cheaters!

Came across this guy last night using an aimbot as a heavy,we vote kicked him but he was still in the server,he said "it was an act of god" or some stupid shit like that.
So I started a vote to kick him again while he was still talking shit,it passes and he was finally kicked.
Valve's votekick system has one significant flaw: You can bypass a votekick/-ban by reconnecting during the vote.
Doing this and the server won't kick you on a successfull vote, but it still applies a ban onto the client. Since the ban is still applied you won't be able to bypass a second vote.
Where in hell are you guys finding these hackers? I've played almost constantly the past few days and have run into zero hackers
Literally the bottom of the barrel in terms of TF2 maps.
i.e. gold rush and dustbowl
It's good to have less cheaters and more fun, gaben did amazing job
I wonder why it spammed/spams that Lmaobox meme in chat, obviously it gives it away and the player gets kicked.
Had some guy spamming chat with it yesterday, though he claimed he was joking too. We kicked him anyway for being an arse.
I've seen that happen before lol.
I think the free version of lamobox automatically spams the chat while the paid version has the option to turn it off.
Idk why, but I prefer the hackers that spam "Geet gud, get LMAOBox". They are still cancerous, but they make a clear stance that they are using a cheat. I'm more upset when somebody tries to hide his cheat and want to sell it as his "own awesome skill".
Ideally there wouldn't be any cheater, but this is far from reality.

Maybe they can't detect LMAOBOX directly but instead updated the flags that trigger the issue with VAC. It was posted a few pages back but wasn't there a thing about TF2's VAC not having the same amount of checks as other VAC games? Maybe they've updated TF2's VAC to pick up these problems.
For some odd reason only known to VALVe, they turned off some of the memory checks which are on and working in CS:GO etc.
They're meant to be working again, but it's 2 years+ too late. LMAOBox has been floating around like a turd in the ocean for long enough.

Mainly for trolling. It's just salt in the wound if the entire server knows they're hacking, but their point-whoring butt medics refuse to allow the votes to pass and I speak from expierence of seeing this happen more than a few times.

The free version can turn it off too.
Just had one.
Took somebody else's name and the chat was just lmaobox and deleted anything anyone else typed unless i muted him. His team called votes but we couldnt even see the votes and he stayed.
What a prick.

You can't vote off a player on the opposing team either way. But it wouldn't matter as the lamebox can cancel votes regardless.
Might be late but it's definitely alive:
This was on a valve public server:

Worst part is Red team had 4 medics pocketing the aimbotting heavy and no-one on red agreed to vote kicking him, so we stayed in spawn for ~9 minutes.

I've never heard of lmaobox canceling votes. At most it does the name switch spam to confuse people as to whom to kick or they disconnect from the server and reconnect before they can be voted off.
Reports of another Vac Wave seem to be rising
Yep, saw this on r/tf2: https://www.reddit.com/r/tf2/comments/4krpcw/new_lmaobox_ban_wave/

People that use lmaobox has some cringy as hell egos, they just like to ruin people's fun.
Since a boatload of hackers got banned maybe valve can start progressively letting more mod content be usable on valve servers until sv_pure 0 is reinstated?

Mod exploits and vac-worthy cheats are in completely different territory. We will get sv_pure back when valve gets their crap together regarding mods, not how well vac is doing.

True, but can ya blame a guy for dreaming?
I think valve should permaban by pc or for ip.
I think valve should permaban by pc or for ip.
Neither of which have anything to do with the hacker's identity.

goodbye to every college campus in the world
this is such an abysmally bad idea that im actually thankful youre not in charge of anything lol
There was an aimbot hacker in Match Making yesterday on Viaduct, my team were up against him so 2 of us went vaccinator medic and our soldiers flanked and killed him. This was with the players on their team playing normally, which didn't help the matter. Anyways, the hacker left towards the end of the match and we still got our medals. It was the first time I've been on a team that beat a hacker :)

So, what about VPNs, Proxies?
What about VMs?
You can spoof MAC addresses as well.
It's a shockingly ill-thought out idea. There are so many ways around such types of ban (that even a skid can do it with ease and be back in your match before the timer ends).
The best option, which is what's happening now, is banning by account but then we have the problem of TF2 being a F2P game - you can quite easily just make a new account within 10 minutes.
Even non-F2P games like CS:GO suffer from this behaviour as you can just get a new CD Key from sites like G2A for ~£6 and be back hacking in about an hour. It's slower, sure, but it just shows it's an issue across the board (F2P and paid games alike).
Yes, VAC now bans accounts which share phone numbers - but phone numbers aren't mandatory for account creation. They're just mandatory if you want to use the market or trade (which a hacker with a disposable account won't do anyway).
Enforcing phone numbers for account creation could be 1 method of getting around this (and blacklisting "Free SMS" numbers from online sites) but then there's still a lot of people out there who haven't got mobiles etc so this will just end up harming them (which is hard to believe since you can get a pretty well spec'd Android phone for ~£30 and a PAYG sim for £1 (or free sometimes) but I digress).
It's quite a hard subject to find a solution for. Of all the more 'obvious' solutions (mandatory phone numbers on account creation) - there will be casualties on both sides (hacker and legit user alike) so it's not going to be one of those "Ban by IP and call it a day" (bad) ideas.
I think valve should permaban by pc or for ip.
That isn't a good idea since half of the community use pc.

Ah, but it doesn't have to be a smartphone, just a phone number from their little flip phone or whatever is in their house. I think this would be the best way to go.
