I'd love to participate in one of these as a level designer, but there's not much opportunity to. Nearly all SFM creations work well enough with existing maps.

But then again, my comedy entry is with original characters and no TF2 stuff so I dunno how well it'll be received.

Apparently many people and friends of mine are waiting for it. Not going to disappoint anyone.

I feel that I'm out of touch to make a Saxxy entry, but good luck for those who attempt! I can always make lightless versions of official maps. :smug: ha-ha-ha, no.

I had a dream last night where I made a saxxy that was a discovery channel-esque documentary about a parasite that inhabits ghastly gibuses. It seeks out nearby individuals with the least amount of brain cells and latches onto their heads to feed off them.

There were many entries before that were uploaded long before the Saxxies and the creator reuploaded it to enter the contest.

I think the fact that it has the aforementioned prizes, it gets people to only make some quality TF2 SFM vids (besides that the TF2 models are already in-game). They need to challenge themselves by breaking out of their comfort zone. Another thing that also bothered me is that Turbulence won despite that it was barely finished. Imagine if that CS:GO chicken bomb video or the TF2 mech video made a huge sacrifice in quality just to enter at the right time? On that note, why won't people just prepare for next year's Saxxys months ahead rather than jump-starting on a video when the awards are announced? there was a shitstorm over a dont'a 2 SFM getting a saxxy because A: it wasn't TF2 B: the people who made it (i think) don't even play TF2 it's just like those dumb dont'a 2 hats that we still have in the game that no one will see ever because they were given to people who don't play this game

In the hypothetical sense that the non-valve developers let animators use their games for the saxxys, you know what would be worse than Overwatch submissions for the Saxxys? FNAF submissions.
