Don't forget about the scene where the medic looks in disappointment at someone because he can't revive their friend.

Did somebody say miscarriage?
They could at least finish it, but I guess they got demotivated after releasing it.
they were supposed to finish it but, well, they never did and we'll never see a full finished version of it.

It's being worked on very slowly, problem is Dunkle got a job at Telltale shortly after the Saxxies and thats been eating up most of his time.

If the Wikipedia article for Oscar bait is used as a guideline, cp_nuremberg is a strong contender.

Followed by an SFM of the 60s Civil Rights Movement and a black & white French arthouse film.
I'd love to participate in one of these as a level designer, but there's not much opportunity to. Nearly all SFM creations work well enough with existing maps.

I guarantee that if you made a ~10 second SFM of loss.jpg, people would give you enough "ironic" meme-votes that you would get a guaranteed Saxxy.
Therefore I'm officially calling dibs on making loss.dmx.

If someone makes such entry and wins I swear that I'm going to change my name into Butter Princess and work as a window cleaner in Antarctica. We already had an infamous 8 seconds entry and it was enough.
So who else here is actually submitting in a saxxy?
I finished my short and I'm working on my entry for the comedy category.

I'm on a team for one, but I'm always up for more. Still trying to perfect my technique.
It's kinda odd how few entries have original soundtracks.

I lucked out since a friend of mine does music and I'll be putting that in one of my entries.
But then again, my comedy entry is with original characters and no TF2 stuff so I dunno how well it'll be received.

Well, my animator made a custom track for the entry and one of the recruited should be recomposing it.
Apparently many people and friends of mine are waiting for it. Not going to disappoint anyone.
I feel that I'm out of touch to make a Saxxy entry, but good luck for those who attempt!
I can always make lightless versions of official maps. :smug:
ha-ha-ha, no.

Man, I must say good job with those maps. Those are very useful.

In the interest of making my maps more suited for SFM, are there things I can do beyond having both lit and unlit versions of the map available?
So what will win the category for Best Comedy this year?
Dunno, but I do know that a 15-second hastily made video will be in the runner's up.
My time to shine, baby.
I had a dream last night where I made a saxxy that was a discovery channel-esque documentary about a parasite that inhabits ghastly gibuses. It seeks out nearby individuals with the least amount of brain cells and latches onto their heads to feed off them.
Only entries submitted between Friday, November 4, 3:00 PM and Friday, November 11, 3:00 PM PST will be considered. (between 23:00 November 4 and 23:00 November 11, GMT). The submission process must be entirely completed before the submission period ends.
Does this mean that if I were to upload my video to youtube now, it becomes invalidated?
Probably a stupid question but I don't wanna lose a chance to win because I got an itchy trigger finger.

No. It just means it needs to go through SFM's uploader to be a valid entry between that time period.
There were many entries before that were uploaded long before the Saxxies and the creator reuploaded it to enter the contest.

Indon't think any of those won though
Indon't think any of those won though
I saw last year that some were nominated, but I'll still upload both mine to youtube on the fifth, paranoia be damned. Better to be safe than sorry.
Plus, with around three months to work on it, it'll be my own damn fault if it doesn't look fabulous.
As always, I really wish Valve would just extend their Saxxy awards outside of being centered around TF2 prizes. I think the fact that it has the aforementioned prizes, it gets people to only make some quality TF2 SFM vids (besides that the TF2 models are already in-game). I want to see more non-TF2 entries like CS:GO or HL2 or Portal 2. TF2 videos are always great, but I think it's been over-saturated. They need to challenge themselves by breaking out of their comfort zone.
Another thing that also bothered me is that Turbulence won despite that it was barely finished. Of course all the pieces are there, but it still seems kinda silly that an unfinished project won. Imagine if that CS:GO chicken bomb video or the TF2 mech video made a huge sacrifice in quality just to enter at the right time? I hope I don't see any amazing videos that has huge quality dips, but thankfully Valve shortened the length down to 3 minutes.
On that note, why won't people just prepare for next year's Saxxys months ahead rather than jump-starting on a video when the awards are announced? If time is an issue, then just finish the project, don't ever talk about it, and wait for next year's.
I think there was a saxxy that was given to people who made a SFM about Dota 2
there was a shitstorm over a dont'a 2 SFM getting a saxxy because
A: it wasn't TF2
B: the people who made it (i think) don't even play TF2
it's just like those dumb dont'a 2 hats that we still have in the game
that no one will see
ever
because they were given to people who don't play this game
Here's a crazy idea, what if someone made an Overwatch short for the Saxxys?
It's valve ips only
Here's a crazy idea, what if someone made an Overwatch short for the Saxxys?
It would be disqualified istantly.
It would be disqualified istantly.
Not necessarily. You just need a lot of permissions from the company the IP is from. Like the CEO and the Game Designers.
I remember there was a small amount of controversy when this Serious Sam Saxxy entry was allowed to participate in the contest because he got the rights to use the IP.

In the hypothetical sense that the non-valve developers let animators use their games for the saxxys, you know what would be worse than Overwatch submissions for the Saxxys?
FNAF submissions.
