You don't get an email for a fix since the item has already been accepted, but Eric usually emails back if they're gonna include it.

I meant that I think they don't have a problem adding very silly hats as long as they are very limited in number, lessening the impact on the art style. I think this is supported by the fact that all the Elite grade (and thus rare) hats are really wacky, while the rest are more normal.

I'd say 9PM EST is the latest we'd see such an update. If they're truly trying to iron out a crash bug like realtalk.tf is saying, then they may be waiting for the last minutes of the working day to push the passes out with a fix patch.

They could do a giveaway where the competitive pass is free for everyone who owns TF2 before it went free to play but that would put the ones who came after in the more difficult situation and they propably would have to pay for the pass. They also could do a giveaway for everyone who currently has played TF2 atleast X mount of hours for free pass but it is likely that the pass will just cost money. This means Valve gets revenue and they are happy. I don't think they do all this for free.
