CSGO is built on L4D2, which was built on L4D, which was built on CS Source, which was built on HL2 version of the source engine.

TF2 was built on Orangebox, which originates from the HL2.

Take a guess how far these two engine branches are from eachothers, regarding the codebase itself. No deal there.

But when, Valve doesn't normally do Weekend updates but the guy said "this week" so what or how could they do it

Here's a timeline for ya buddy.

Guy says at the beginning of this week "Game-changing stuff happening this week"
Someone asks if he means the Overwatch beta, he says no.

And we are here now. Matchmaking probably next week.

Yeah I would say there's about a 99% chance they are talking about the first public match making invites going out, especially with Valve having created the group for handing out invites a couple of weeks ago. Anyone expecting anything else is just setting themselves up for disappointment.
