New comp rules now say that you need to authenticate every frag or else the kill gets stuck in escrow.

I feel "underwhelming" or "unfortunate" is a more apt description.
The content creators all did a bang-up job, the maps were full of fun gimmicks, but shit like the constant delays and Valve getting stupid greedy with the crates killed a major amount of the hype.

If it'd released on schedule with no crate tiers, I feel like the general consensus on it would be way more glowingly positive.

I don't like mobile auth either, but if someone really wants to use it without a smartphone, it's not that difficult to make it happen. There are apps to do it on your pc, and if you don't trust those for some reason, you can always run some lightweight Android emulator. (In case of serious trust issues, the one made by Google.)

And the last 2 person in this thread who mentioned that they don't own a mobile at all were both from the US, so I think Google has a solution for that as well. Or you can always borrow someone's phone for that 1 sms. It's not convinient, but definitely doable.

Now I really have no idea why would someone say that.. They just posted a status update, which is a rare thing from Valve to begin with, and I don't think it contained any bad news that would make them the "worst company in gaming". I only see positive things in this announcement.

Edit: By your standards, what is a good gaming company? EA, Rockstar, Overkill, or perhabs Ubisoft? Just to menion a few. If Valve is the worst, I don't know what are these.
