Man I feel like the only one who liked EOTL/Invasion. I didnt play much during boogaloo so no comment on that
I liked EOTL/Invasion, but only because the snowplow map was released later.
Sums up my reaction to robotic boogaloo.
To be fair, that's on Valve and not the community. Community contributors wanted to include community made MvM missions, but Valve said no because they wanted to deliberately limit it to testing their new item importer on the workshop.

I never said I hated the community or the people making items for the update. No, it was obvious, as it it always it, that Valve both wants the community to do all the work yet not contribute anything of actual value even if they offer to do so. Therefore, my impotent nerdrage is directed at nothing but Valve.
I just discovered Blizzard has a $6.50 authenticator tool you can buy so you don't need a cell phone. That would be awesome if valve could do something similar. You simply press a button and enter the code when you log into your account. After a few logins on the same computer you won't be prompted again. a one time purchase of $6.50 is much more reasonable than buying a cell phone that is compatible with the steam app, and then paying for service.
would be nice...
since you know...
I own a windows phone and Steam doesnt support windows phones...
no one support windows phones
I liked EOTL/Invasion, but only because the snowplow map was released later.
That said I think I'm uh the only one (ofcourseI'mnotbuty'knowfiguresofspeech) that enjoys hat-only updates. Honestly I sometimes prefer cosmetic updates over new weapons if the new weapon was especially horrid like I'd trade the sandman for like 10 new hats or something

Considering it's either this or getting a phone that supports the authenticator... you don't have a lot of options. :v:
Seriously, that thing is actually pretty good and helpful for people who don't have a phone or do have one, but don't support an authenticator. (which 99% of the time is Windows Phones.)
But it's still too early to enforce the authenticator, which I hope they don't do anytime soon.
It's an option and it should stay as such.
I see requiring a phone number and authentication as a way to safely eliminate most, if not all, of the farming accounts. Far as I can tell, it's probably the best way to do it as they can select by unique number. Otherwise the farming accounts will sign up in droves and the ones that do get passes be sold.
Honestly, seeing how it's 2016 it's not too far fetched to expect the majority of people to own a smartphone.
I have a windows phone and am forced to use the desktop app.

I don't feel like spending more money on a device that does the same thing as my Env3 but is carried by all those disgusting hipsters down at the coffee shop.
The fucking things don't even have buttons I can press, it's all one screen.
And I swear no one even uses smartphones as phones anymore, in fact most people these days would be damn surprised to find out their little device is actually a phone they can talk to others on.
Most people are just tapping away texting like it's a damn telegraph.

Snowplow was the map that everybody wanted, but became the one nobody played when Valve finally added it and people really saw how it was. Go on any Valve attack/defend server (forget community servers, it's long gone there), and most people will leave or vote to change map immediately as soon as it comes on. I know "Too confusing for new players" is a joke around here but Valve wasn't that far off with their judgement, in hindsight.
If Snowplow had the train outline removed and a standard round timer at the top of the screen, the map would've improved tenfold with just that alone. The outline confuses players into thinking it's some kind of Payload map that requires the train to be pushed, and the train HUD is just a very vague metaphor for what should've been there instead: an actual round timer. It almost feels like the train HUD was kept because they didn't want to scrap the train-smashing things and the damaged version of the train model.
Honestly, YM maps are hit or miss. They can be really good like Halfacre and Furnace Creek or complete trash like Hoodoo, and Valve is only adding the crap ones.
EDIT: I literally just confused Snowplow as a payload map in the second sentence. lol

Furnace Creek is the only map that plays vaguely similar to Gravel Pit and it pains me that isn't official yet. Hoodoo isn't that bad but only gets to be unbearable during the final cap with the narrow paths

Theres 3 types of smart phones: theres iOS then there is Android, and everyone love those guys due to they have the best brand shoes and stuff..
Then there is the Windows phone that lives on the other side of town that is somewhat good but all they have is bootleg or outdated stuff..

I don't have a smartphone because I never felt I needed one, everything I could do on a smartphone I can do faster, less expensively and more securely on my computer. And I personally think it's good for me to get away from that world when I'm outside
I think everyone's forgetting that you don't need the authenticator or the phone number to play matchmaking.
It only gives you a higher "priority" for getting the pass during the initial beta.

"Higher priority" is a euphemism for "We're only including those who are mobile authenticated".
I got a Samsung Galaxy S5, and the app is still glitched as fuck. (The permanently online bug made me deleting it, I was stated as online even if both of my phone, computer, and steam app were shut down)
"Higher priority" is a euphemism for "We're only including those who are mobile authenticated".
"we will prioritize group members that meet the following requirements"
if you could get in without auth, why do they say "requirements"

Because they're requirements for being prioritized?

I actually have an android phone now...
was able to trade up
So many times I used the app, friends would send me shitton of messages when i'm sleeping and then when I wake up, everyone gets angry at me because there were no notifications at all.
This app is so full of bad design choices I wish they had an app only for the authenticator and another for mobile Steam.

When you install the app you should get the widget that is just authenticator app on your home screen
I wonder if people will start being added to the beta tonight?

I wonder if they'll fix 1/3 of the payload maps being broken.

They did say next week - which means it could be any day.
