I may have said this before, but I find it just a little preposterous that people need some sort of in-game progression system to foster player retention. I feel like people have the attention spans of goldfish these days. (Oh, the contemporary human average is actually worse than goldfish. The more you know.)
One thing I think the TF2 team needs to work on is a brand new, much better tutorial then what we have. New players are going to be pretty overwhelmed when they first play TF2 and a good tutorial would be nice. Maybe also put a more advanced tutorial in as well to cover things like rocket/sticky jumping, critical healing, etc.
Please remember that this upcoming update will likely host matchmaking and a few cosmetic updates along with localization files. Don't overhype yourself. Anything extra is just a bonus, but should not be expected.

Why can't you play any map at any given time? Usually no matter what map I search for (unless it's hydro), there are always a few servers running that with decent number of players on it.

Usually it's just onesided steamroll, especially on lower ranks. Don't forget about boosters too - you may be matched with the guy who boosts someone's account on lower rank, so your low-rank team will not be able to handle the guy with the highest rank possible on his own account, or you may be matched with boosted noob on the high rank, so you will basically have 1 player less in the team and thus will have disadvantage. TL;DR Matchmaking isn't panacea

But that being said, I think they actually need to fix the many items that clip through everything before adding anymore of them.

Am I the only one expecting a huge dump of balance changes alongside the beta MM? Matt "gamechanger" said that the thing he refers to as "gamechaning" isnt MM - but something else. And b4nny did confirm after someone asked that "valve is working on balance, including useless garbage like the sun on a stick" .
Did Matt really say something like that? Was it on Twitter? Must have missed it.

Stun on a stick buff ? Hell, why not. Always nice to see some garbage weps becoming something atleast playable.
If they change the sun on the stick, how will i look at this world. Its been the butt of every bad tf2 weapon joke.
Again, don't expect the buff 100% - or any balance, really, its valve afterall. I just remember that in some stream, some twink asked "if valve will ever do something about stuff like the sun on a stick" and he said that "yeah, they will be working on that"
I still believe that they've just forgotten that they exist. They're hot garbage and haven't been touched in years.
I also hope they do something for the axtinguisher. It makes me sad everytime i see these new stats.
