I'm pretty sure the taunt has one specific warcry.
One or two of the taunt warcries are shared with critical death sounds but if you know there is a phlog in play it's not hard to keep track of the killfeed to counteract mistaking the two for each other.
on the topic of the phlog (but not of balance): I was perusing the market, and I noticed something: the price of the Strange Phlogistinator has roughly tripled since the update fun fact, I guess

Valve really goofed the Smissmas Gifts in the game store... [t]http://i.imgur.com/zRODEaP.png[/t]
Valve really goofed the Smissmas Gifts in the game store... [t]http://i.imgur.com/zRODEaP.png[/t]
As much as I like a lot of the stuff about this update, I really miss the Naughty and Nice creates. That mystery gift better be good.

Oh well, I hope we find out what's in that gift tomorrow.

Some of you've probably noticed by now, but at least one of the new maps (Highpass) again suffers from the known case of broken, purple textures whenever you load it up for the second time in the same TF2 session. The same way Watergate did back during Invasion when it was run on official event servers (it also loaded up with checkered spots in the HUD, and for a while it was missing the UFO countdown timer), and similar to how Suijin suffered from missing rooftoops, walls and other elements during Gun Mettle's early stages - in all cases, re-loading the same map in the same session lead to these issues. Not a mapper, but there's something clearly wrong with the way custom map .bsp files taken from the Workshop end up incorrectly unpacking some of their resources when run on Valve servers. Hopefully, the Highpass mappers can fix this, but they never managed to fix it for Watergate, for example. It's an issue that's plagued this new ''keep all custom map assets packed up in the .bsp file instead of adding them to the game's core files'' system for 6 months now. It wasn't just a solitary problem with Suijin, it's happened to Borneo, Watergate and now Highpass to my knowledge. The TF2 Team might wanna take a good look into this to fix the problems at their source.
Looking at the description I can safely bet you'll either get a Naughty or a Nice crate from the box. Just like how those check thingies for the Summer Cooler crate worked.

So what are the predictions for when we can open the mystery gift? I'd say Christmas day.
So what are the predictions for when we can open the mystery gift? I'd say Christmas day.
Valve Christmas - December 26th.
1. I used to like how the crate drop rate was nerfed but that's basically no longer a thing if you've owned any of the campaigns or passes. booting up tf2 twice every week and having 3 crates (invasion, gun mettle cosmetic or weapon, normal) is really dumb. they should just be added to the normal drop list of crates and have a chance to swap out for them. right now they're waaaaaaay too saturated and basically make the campaigns kinda pointless if you don't care about the contract skins. just wait 3 months and get all the crates you want! 2. chemistry sets were cool but I have yet to finish the two relevant ones I have that I received two(?) years ago. theee cosa nostra caps and five big earners? uh okay pal
So what are the predictions for when we can open the mystery gift? I'd say Christmas day.
Doubt anyone will be at the office to release a patch/bug fix on Christmas day. Tonight or tomorrow seem like more likely candidates.
Doubt anyone will be at the office to release a patch/bug fix on Christmas day.
I too dismiss entire communities because of one person's dumb remark.
only that it's not one person but actually a lot that think like that. Seen it lots of times on tf2. Same with the people that insult or make fun of others for just playing on public servers, like, how stupid you gotta be to insult others just because you played MGE once
Not if you use a voice command; use of any voice commands will cancel out the noise he makes when he taunts. I just call for a medic when I pop my Mmph because it makes the pyro silent much faster.
If you're going to try to cancel the sound, use Z->7 (Yes). Always plays this sound file. C->5 (Positive) also works, but will vary from either being very abrupt and short to comparable in length to the taunt vocalization.
I'm more miffed that crates are basically dead, because there are still weapons in this game without Strange variants. Sandvich, Buffalo Steak, Vita-Saw and plenty of others. Not to mention parts, which as a whole have now become more expensive than most of the weapons they are meant to be applied to. Low tier parts are almost non existant on the market because of Stat-swap tool crafting, and high value parts are from otherwise worthless old munitions and supply series that aren't being opened anymore. Basically, the switch to cases ensures that we only get hats, skins and reskins (Invasion). The last time we got new parts or normal stranges was march. I hope to god that if they release the last few weapons without Strange variants they aren't arbitrarily tiered, and that isn't even because of rarity. It's literally only because I hate tier names and colors showing up in the item info and it would make those stranges bastard outliers. I wouldn't put it past Valve to do that and make the Strange Sandvich elite grade so they can bring in more shekels from unboxing.
The thing is, the one's from March did have tiers. The AWP and Bison had a much lower chance of unboxing, almost being an elite grade. And then the later crate clearly had the Dalokohs Bar and Red Tape Recorder as the mercenaries (27k of each exist) while the Buff Banner, Claid, and Wrangler were the Commando grades. They weren't as legendary as the AWP but only 6-7k of those exist, compared to the 28k of the others in the series. Valve figured this secret test worked, and put in Gun Mettle

Valve figured this secret test worked, and put in Gun Mettle
Crates have been tiered since their conception. Early crates were segregated by what kind of content it was: weapon, paint, hat, etc. With unusual being the cream of the crop tier. Things went along this pattern for years and it wasn't until recently that the de-facto weapon tiers were introduced. The Ullapool Caber and Kritzkrieg being the top picks right underneath unusual. But people accepted these as rarities because they were pre-existing from the salvaged series and many people were just finally happy to see the weapons re-released, albeit at a slower rate. Ultimately, I'm of the opinion that having some higher-tier goal aside from the unusual is a good way to get more people to personally value the crate and the contents within, thus making it easier to acquire things that were previously out of reach. The inclusion of the trade-up system pushes that further, allowing numerous poor-quality unboxes culminate in a better-ranked unbox in hopes that they get what they were hoping for. The big thing that I find souring about tiered crates at the moment is: how it affects unusual unboxes to be predominantly low-tiered items with particles, the confetti of colors that are ultimately meaningless cluttering up the backpack and making it hard to distinguish what's of what quality, how heavy-handed the distribution of tiers are (you're far more unlikely to unbox a low-tier item now than you were when it was a masked de-facto tiered system). Other than that, it sounds like something that people have been asking for for years. It's sure as a hell lot more approachable than rare crates ever were.
My biggest problem with the current system is that contributors continue to get no cut of Steam Market sales. Especially with how the Mann Co store now features Market prices built in.

It's a trivial cosmetic thing I know, but in the name of consistency, I would hope that when and if they release new stranges, they aren't going to have a grade attached to their item info. I think that the way crates were before cases was better; the colored and named tiers just makes for inconsistency with everything released the last 5 years and add unneeded clutter to the backpack UI (as Psy has already said). I think that the tiers are okay with skins, a stretch with reskins like the shooting star and geiger, and absolutely unacceptable with hats and new strange weapons (something we technically haven't seen yet, but would apply to potential festives). The system from before was fine (where hats were added as crafts, drops, and like 2 per crate) and I don't think there was ever a need to change it.
In any case, I'm glad that they changed the algorithm for opening cases. I opened up like 15 Gargoyle cases and 8 of those were Hell-mets, no joke.
So, most likely the gifts will be openable tonight or tomorrow, right?

How was that ever even a problem?
So, most likely the gifts will be openable tonight or tomorrow, right?
Hopefully tonight, since Tuesday is a patch day, possibly tomorrow.
I hope they fix the Kunai, Spycicle and Big Earner using the knife animations instead of the eternal reward animations.
The UGC League Winter 2016 is Starting http://www.teamfortress.com/post.php?id=19798 [editline]21st December 2015[/editline] In another stuff, when do we usually get the Early Warning of Eric?
In another stuff, when do we usually get the Early Warning of Eric?
normally before the update hits
normally before the update hits
I know, but at what time.
I know, but at what time.
Not before it's announced, I'll tell you that. Usually only about 10 minutes before the game starts to download
What if they mixed the cosmetics and weapons into one crate this year? That's why its called the mystery gift.
