Mostly mad about them proritizing income through forcing festive skins rather than fixing currently broken wrench/knife festives (yes, I own one of those and I'm miffed that I cannot see the lights on it) than the "no new festives" issue but that's still kind of dumb.
Edit:
I mean, how do you fuck up so bad?!

but there is technically a new festive, the pistol
You cannot get a stock festive pistol. Festivized skins don't really count imo

Well actually you can, DX Level 8 :P
so b4nny is going to stream matchmaking later today

Probably a little late in saying this, but apparently you can't remove the Festivizer once it's been applied to a weapon.
Would it be worth emailing Eric about this?
Sure, also email him about styles on festivized stickybomb skins. I wanted my stickybomb to have white lights, like on normal f sticky, but it only lets you have colored ones.

Make sure to write about how the skins look like directx8 weapons once you put spec ks kits on them!
Just in case http://imgur.com/a/eEQ70 (Field-tested) vs http://imgur.com/a/mSGgu (Minimal-wear)
Personaly... Im preety baffled that there is no new weapons for any of the classes... well atleast its better than getting another soldier/demo one :v:
Infinity years since spy weapons. I just want an interesting new watch.

You are saying that like it is a bad thing.

I already sent the email before seeing this, sorry.
What I have sent him thus far was the lack of an option to restore/remove Gun Mettle and Tough Break festivized weapons and the 'white light' style for Stickybomb Launchers. I've already sent Eric three separate emails today already though, so he's likely put me on his spam list at this point. :v:
Would anyone else be willing to send him a "summed up" message, including the direct8 KS problem?
PSA: If you want something fixed email them yourself

The more i see of this update, the more i want to see a high-quality full-fledged Pyro frag video, where everything that was cool about Pyro frag videos (airshot reflections, det jumps, axtinguisher dropdowns and whatnot) are replaced by the guy literally walking forward, pressing m1 and getting 5+ kills with the Phlog, ending with something like "Thanks for the changes to pyro, Valve!"
*EDIT: Yes, i understand that you think the idea is stupid. I'll try to explain it some more later.
Ever since Love and War, the game has been going in a very different direction, and the last 6 months pretty much prove that Valve is doubling down on that new direction. They're throwing away 7 years worth of dedication to a specific and defined content creation model in favor of basically what is most profitable right now, and they aren't even doing the new system in a way that is consistent with itself, let alone the the 7 years worth of hats, qualities, specialties, crates, events, or items. And unfortunately, it's really too late to mend the divide between the two models.
Cosmetic cases should not have tiers either. Regular crates (with equal drop rates) and shuffle crates have already shown a positive response in the community. Having items extremely rare for no reason is just unfair to the people that happen to like it. Look at the Batsaber for instance. It's also sad to see there are no more taunt crates for the new taunts. Unusual taunts are basically abandoned as a result of this. Plus, it forces everyone to pay/trade at store prices, which are not cheap.
Unusual weapons could have been their own thing just like Australiums, as a rare loot reward for the contracts. Decorated weapon skins really have no place in this game, especially with all the pointless wears that hardly matter in TF2's cartoony/illustrative style. The shoehorned presence of them just screams lack of originality. All of those problems aside, the main issue is people are just not interested in skins. Just look at the market, which has essentially become a junkyard for all of the skins people don't want (and believe me, there's a lot of them).
It's sad to see the TF Team undo literally years of work, trying to reinvent TF2's economy in a vain attempt to make it popular like a certain other multiplayer shooter. TF2 was doing just fine in 2014. :s:

wait you're telling me B4nny's name isn't Benny wtf
wait you're telling me B4nny's name isn't Benny wtf
it's actually grant minion hater vincent, but benny suffices
iirc B4nny was his brother's steam account that he used to play on, and just decided to stick with the name
There was just a schema update that fixed the knife animations. http://git.optf2.com/schema-tracking/commit/?h=teamfortress2&id=cf3520d132bd4faed8a18c27641d13fe0cab1e49
Ever since Love and War, the game has been going in a very different direction, and the last 6 months pretty much prove that Valve is doubling down on that new direction. If Valve really wanted the new direction, especially Gun Mettle, to meld with TF2 as it has been known for so long, a number of systems and sort of rules should have been set in place before hand, such as:
* Grades and cases are limited to Decorated Weapons only. Hats, tools, stranges, and the like are to be shipped in Supply and Munitions crates, and large amounts of cosmetics (usually coinciding with a community update) are to be shipped in crates with completely equalized chances for each item (EOTL crate did this and all was good in the world).
* Wear levels are to be limited to Factory, Field Tested, and Scarred. TF2 is not CSGO; we have more than just skins, and having 5 different variants of the same thing is unnecessary. The Gunmettle page showed the Citizen Pain in FN, FT, and BS for a reason; MW and WW are nothing but bloat, especially in TF2 where, as said before, skins are not the only form of customization. MW and WW skins clutter the market because they are usually unpopular, and because trade-up doesn't improve wear, isn't profitable, and isn't controllable enough for most people to actually do it.
* Drop Collections are to have a very rare chance of dropping a collection crate, the contents of which are guaranteed strange. This ensures that contract completion can result in Cases or weapons, and the weapons available as just contract reward are also available in strange.
* Maps are to be shipped independently of new campaigns. Any map that is added must be purchased from the creator, have all assets implemented into the game's files, and be permanently added to the respective rotation.
There are also a number of things Valve could do right now that would be to the betterment of the game and its consistency:
* Add a new tool allowing the application of Stat Clock attachments to any existing Strange quality weapon. This may be a direct application like most stock primaries, in the form of a watch for most consumables, or something unique to cater to a certain weapon's design.
* The ability to destroy any strange, non-decorated item and turn it into a Strangifier should be added, allowing for Strange versions of Collector's, Vintage, and Genuine items. Strangifiers can not be used on decorated weapons.
There's far more to be said in hindsight about what Valve should have done differently and how it could have been done better but what matters is this; Valve is taking the game to new and different places. The new direction means more things to cater to more modern players, and more things older players need to adopt or leave because of. We're on this course indefinitely, so it looks like we need to make the best of it.
Since Valve Actually reads r/tf2, you should post this there.
What do strange melee skins look like or do they not exist yet? Doesn't cs:go use scratches or something?

Wrenches and Knives both got skins this update, and wrenches don't do anything too crazy beyond a symbol or a mixed color scheme.
Knives however have blood on the blade if you get a more "used" quality like Field-Tested or Battle Scarred, while Factory New is as you'd expect - completely clean knife.
Oh, as for Strange quality, i have a wrench and it has a meter on the torque. Holds it right up to his face when you examine it, too.
Knives don't get a counter on the blade itself i think? Yet to see one ingame, but it seems way too small for a meter. Not to mention how the examine animation is fancy spinning tricks.

Valve's not going to do anything about it. They'll stubbornly move forward with it as usual. After all, the first set of hats are still retired, even though nothing good came out of it.

Was it really such of a big deal? nobody seems to think much about that event except for the initial reaction

The counter on the knife is located on one of the handles. It looks awful, if you ask me.

The point is Valve is not going to stop making weapon skins and tiers.

The point is, there wasn't a point
It could have never happened and things would still be the same
