Major Update Speculation XXX: cp_orange_x3 confirmed!
Guys, when you talk about updates - you stick to the lore too much. If it really was so important they would have to stop updating or remove PvP part of the game - pretty much the same thing as if they would stop update MvM because of comics. Plus, we don't have any dates in-game, so stuff in game can easily happen in different timeframes compared to comics.
The only date I recall in-game is the 1968 from the calendars.
Not sure if it's been mentioned, but judging from Randomizer and servers with Giveweapon plugins, it seems the Golden Wrench has its textures completely broken.
Ask Delfy, he has one legit.

Then the question is do we have any dates in comics (except that soldier tour, of course :v:)? I may be wrong, but i don't remember any, for obvious reasons (new issues are released sooo damn fast that i don't have enought time to properly read them and remember stuff :v:).

makes sense
if i remember correctly, when they added weapon skins to the first batch of items, they completely redid the models' UVs to make them work better with skins or something, which also meant the default and australium textures had to be completely remade. looks like they just forgot about the golden wrench when they were redoing the textures for this next batch. i mean, i don't blame them.
maybe they'll take the easy way out and just make it use the australium wrench texture instead. :v:
golden wrench has looked like radioactive neon yellow ever since saxxies were added in
comically, nobody gives a shit because most gwrench owners have long since quit / never actually played the game so no reports were ever made
Atleast we got bootleg Golden Wrenches :v:

Scout and Spy's arrest date is set at September 7, 1972 on the arrest placard in Ring of Fired.

Blood Brothers also has Gray Mann stated to be born in 1822. Gray Mann then says that he has been watching Redmond and Blutarch fighting for 150 years.
I used to be in a Highlander team with a Golden Wrench owner actually. It was always odd to see it.
The Golden Wrench looks so ugly now :v:

ironic that the less rare and far easier to get golden wrench looks much better than the actual one.

Funny, I also was in a Highlander team with a Golden Wrench owner back in 2010. We got kicked by the team who finished 3rd. I wouldn't get such an ass kicking until I met Hungrybox in pools at Dreamhack last month.
The guy deleted his Golden Wrench for whatever reason since then. I remember him getting all kind of crazy offers for his account, including one with a car. A legit real life one.
a lot of people deleted their wrenches for charity back in 2010

https://wiki.teamfortress.com/wiki/Storyline has a good low-down on everything from game to supplemental materials. On aside, I recently ran into a comment which stated Expiration Date happened in February 1971 due to assets found in SFM, and specifically happened from February 10th-12th. It didn't have a source, but it did sound like the kind of stuff this forum uncovers all the time, so it'd be interesting if it did turn out to be true. (I'm having a hard time finding it again, though. I had a screen shot, but it was destroyed when the usb that had it was crushed)

I actually was using that page to orient myself for the timeline. Unfortunately, it is in need of an update with long time gaps in the edit history.
The summaries also have frustratingly inconsistent or non-existent in-line citations. Some of the citations for the detailed timeline literally link to the first page of the comic than the cited page.
I gleaned the page numbers that showed actual dates from the talk page. The difficulty was that the comics frequently referenced months and weeks, not years.
As a result, most of the dates listed seem to be extrapolated backwards from the few comic pages that do show years.

It's a shame, that's probably my most visited page on the entire wiki. There really should be an organized clean up project for it. Though good luck to anyone trying to figure out how the campaigns fit into the lore. For example in Gun Mettle, Miss Pauling says "So you're a Kiwi now, huh?" when 1) the campaign should be set back in the gravel wars and 2) she already knew, but that implies it might be post-comics? That was a minor quibble compared to all the contradictory stuff in Tough Break. The gun show one sticks out in particular, though many things confuse me about TB. If it's set gravel wars, why is Miss Pauling so buddy-buddy with the mercenaries? She's outright disdainful of them in Meet The Director, she doesn't really start to warm up to them in the comics and supplemental material until about MVM, or at least the 70s, given Expiration Date. Why has Miss Pauling not realized that Soldier is crazy after working with him for years? I know, I know, rule of funny, but from a characterization and lore perspective I kept tilting my head trying to make sense of what this does for the timeline and such.
The catch-up comic

Here's how they fit; They don't. Loose canon, and all that.
damn these new skins are pretty fancy

I personally think that the campaigns are meant to possibly take place after the gravel wars ended and the events of the currently incomplete running comics. Would make sense based on 2 factors:
1. While Valve doesn't really define a theme for maps they want, most of the GunMettle maps are very much outside the realm of South West US. Suijin, Borneo, Snowycoast, to name a few. It leads me to believe that they aren't mercenaries in the employ of Redmond and Blutarch's RED and BLU, but what is left of the two shell companies under the control of the Administrator's TF Industries, doing work globally instead of just areas of New Mexico, Arizona and Utah.
2. She's on good terms with the mercs in the wake of working with them in both the robot wars, Expiration Date and the events of the TF comics.
Not to give credence to an overused (though hardly unfair or wrong) meme we got going on, but it does seem, at least here in the context of the lore, we have a Team Fortress: Global Mercenaries situation. Contracts coincide likely with the resuming of the mercs jobs under the Administrator, but rather than continuing to fight over worthless gravel pits, they're fighting over places and things of actual value.

All i want for New Years Eve is strangifiers for the Gentlemenn Collection (or new strangifiers in general).

I'd say don't get your hopes up. New crates containing anything other than skinned weapons or hats (Such as stranges, strange parts, Strangifiers, killstreak kits, and the like) died with the release of Gun Mettle. I don't think we'll ever see new Supply or Munitions crates ever again. Which sucks, because Cases don't fill the void left in the wake of the complete replacement of what we had going on for close to 5 years.

See, the "it's a document-drama, so the characterization and lore don't matter!" is like those "70 late pages!" it's the writers trying to joke about a glaring problem. It doesn't matter if it's epistolary format, docu-drama, or a linear plot. An interesting premise means nothing if you can't keep it together continuity wise, keep the characterization in line, and make it fit. Otherwise it's just a collection of interesting things which don't really intersect.
They're professionals. A key component of a story is actually making it make sense, and ensuring massive errors don't slip through. The fact that most of this forum finds these errors within minutes just shows how glaring some of these story. You can't even technically blame the writers for this. Continuity checkers and editors are supposed to get these things. And either Valve doesn't have them, or really needs to fire the ones they have.
Don't get me wrong, I like the world Valve has created, but most of this is just lazy. They aren't a bunch of fanartists or fanficcers who gain nothing but their own enjoyment from creating things, and release things sometimes without the help of editors or professional experience. Every half-assed update where Demoman somehow has two eyes and then has the eyepatch on the wrong eye just reflects poorly on Valve.

Those are interesting. Is that supposed to be a random pin up, or Zhanna? (Like how Spy has a Scoutma pin up)

I could see something like that. Sort of how Expiration Date was released in the middle of the MVM arc, but took place before it.
or tl;dr: Valve time strikes again.
Though if this hypothesis is true, it means that the Admin survives.
I found a glitch
Lets say you are on blu team on a CP map, and Red is about to cap your last point
If you get on the point at the last second, red will still cap, but it will say that blu won, and red team goes into the lose animation
Found a bug in Vanguard where sometimes the forward spawn door will be locked and you can no longer leave the spawn
