Was Gift Wrap fixed? [editline]7th January 2016[/editline]
Was Gift Wrap fixed?
Nope not fixed ;c
Speaking of patches, does the Eviction Notice speed buff need to be patched still, or was that working all along and I just never noticed?
Was Gift Wrap fixed? [editline]7th January 2016[/editline] Nope not fixed ;c
Can someone explain the problem with the Gift Wrap?
People were using Gift Wrap to bypass Steam Escrow. So they disabled Gift Wrap and Giftapaults.
Kinda funny to see hate for gmod on facepunch. Anyway, as someone who doesn't follow development of such things closely, I am pretty sure they are making a sequel. Wonder if he could make it compete with sfm in some way. (Do keep in mind I have never used SFM, and hardly play gmod because every time I play 2-3 hours are spent downloading mods, so I have no idea how feasible this thought is.)
If Garry uses Source 2 (and I believe that's currently the plan), SFM will just be part of the mod tools.
People were using Gift Wrap to bypass Steam Escrow. So they disabled Gift Wrap and Giftapaults.
Quality work there Valve, why disable the Giftapult?
Quality work there Valve, why disable the Giftapult?
Because it also bypasses 2-factor authentication.
Because laziness is the best thing to do than put in any real effort when solving a problem.
Quality work there Valve, why disable the Giftapult?
If your account was compromised, the person could giftapult away all your valuable items.
If your account was compromised, the person could giftapult away all your valuable items.
Even if they couldn't, they could just as easily just delete all of your items. What's worse is that they can also delete games from your library. Sure, it's not profitable for a jacker to do that to a compromised account. But if someone's goal is to just ruin someone else's day, that would make enough of an impact. I've yet to hear any stories about hijackers actually doing that to victims yet, but the act of removing a game from your library itself doesn't require 2FA so it seems like it'd be very vulnerable.
update fucked my fps
What's worse is that they can also delete games from your library.
Uh, what? You can't delete games from a library.
Uh, what? You can't delete games from a library.
Yes you can.
Yes you can.
Wait, and THAT doesn't ask for some kind of email confirmation or something? That's crazy. What possible purpose does this option even have?
Wait, and THAT doesn't ask for some kind of email confirmation or something? That's crazy. What possible purpose does this option even have?
To remove those Bad Rats gift you got from one of your friends, duh.
To remove those Bad Rats gift you got from one of your friends, duh.
But you can just hide them, or put them into a "Trash" folder or whatever. This is just making an opening for abuse.
Steam shouldn't be responsible for hijacked accounts. Just think of Sony and the PSP. Endless customization were done on it and every update that was brought out, more custom content was made possible. In the case of the PSP most of the custom content was good, but the main thing they wanted to stop was people ripping full game ISOs and pirating all of their official content. No matter what you do, you'll never completely stop hijackers and scammers from getting into accounts and ruining people's days. All you can do is inform people of common scams and provide the best experience possible. This current 2 step verification system is very irritating for those of us who do not have a mobile device. I am instantly locked out of most forms of trading, and the only way I can trade now is with a 3 day hold. It is not even worth attempting to trade these days. In my opinion the SMA is only hindering users such as myself, while the actual offenders are still causing havoc. People need to realize if they have anything they value on their account they need to be cautious of any possible scams. Never give out your password, ensure you have a secure password, and never click on suspicious links. Its like that common scam where people from India claim to be from microsoft and then get people to ruin their computers or invite screen sharing and spyware. If they were only informed beforehand they'd know it was an obvious scam.

Still, I use it and it works fine. I have a phone but it's a Windows one and Steam Authenticator isn't available for it.

I have a tablet, but you need a phone number to use the authenticator.
Looks like a schema update might have just buffed the jarate recharge time if you extinguish a teammate. Heading ingame to check.

It was meant to fix hijacks.
I don't have a cell phone. I have a tablet, but you need a phone number to use the authenticator.
The readme says this:
You can get a free SMS enabled phone number from Google Voice in the US
I dunno if you wanna try that.
Uh, authenticator/escrow wasn't even meant to fix sharking. It was meant to fix hijacks.
Of course, but it doesn't even do it that well. Most cases of scams will still have stupid 8 year olds giving out their passwords to freesteamgames!!!.com, but being able to shark someone now wouldn't even be worth the effort.
Looks like a schema update might have just buffed the jarate recharge time if you extinguish a teammate. Heading ingame to check.
that was added during toughbreak, unless it was buffed even further
For some reason Valve did a item schema update that counts any Festivized weapons as seperate items. As if shopping for Decorated weapons wasn't hard enough, there's a ridiculous amount of each weapon now, having Festive variants, Strange Variants, Unusual Variants, Strange Unusual Variants, Strange Festives, Unusual Festives, and Strange Unusual Festives, all in 5 different wears each, and each having 3 killstreak versions. The community market is a complete mess, with a single skin having 3 pages worth of tiny variations.
At least now if someone wanted a factory new professional killstreak unusual strange festive backwoods boomstick shotgun they'll have an easier time finding it
If you restore a festivized weapon do you get the festivizer back?
