I doubt they will.
Since the Tough break is three months, does that make it unlikely there'll be any significant update until March?
Since the Tough break is three months, does that make it unlikely there'll be any significant update until March?
Usually there isn't any big update again until June or July, though matchmaking getting it's public beta will probably be a large enough event to be considered similar to a major update. It's also possible we'll get some more Passtime content in the first part of the year. I do think it's likely we'll see Valve grab up the Iron Gauntlet MVM community update and put that out at some point during the first half of the year to fill the long gap of no major updates we normally see in the first half of the year, especially since it seems like they are working on some MVM content of their own based on them updating bots and adding MVM related code to the game recently. If Valve has an MVM map or two ready to go adding in the content from Iron Gauntlet could make a nice big MVM update and give them a nice big source of extra revenue during the first half of the year.

There's lots of those already distributed. Maybe they will invent another limited item, such as golden HHHH? You are also right that there usually aren't big updates before summer for TF2. Tough break ends at the end of March and i think matchmaking will arrive on summer. So it's up for community to fill up the blanks to keep players satisfied. With this clever bridge, we are going to release this moon map very soon!
Where have you been testing that map? I don't recall seeing a moon themed payload map on TF2maps.net server recently, but I don't play on that server all the time so I may of missed it. Edit: As to increase in ticket sales, I imagine any big MVM update would have a new set of Australium weapons. Even if it doesn't I imagine more casual MVM fans may buy a ticket to try out the new maps.

I understand there are several re-skins in the game for non-stock weapons but generally speaking, they are guaranteed to look like A or B in the situation of it. It seems like a horrible idea to extend the new skin system to them, because some of the unlocks that are usually identified by color scheme could be potentially disguised or otherwise unless valve purposefully limits the skins available to them to maintain the same color read-ability.
I never understood Valve's way of balancing weapons. No - I am not questioning why the buffed/nerfed XY, I straight out don't understand while some rebalanced are tied to completely normal bug fix updates. Remember when they rebalanced the Amputator (Or was it some other weapon? I dont know.) in a completely normal update? Most people liked it, since it made the weapon more interesting, but why wasn't it in a major update, like all the other rebalances?
why does it matter
Because I'd prefer it if they'd do that more often.
Man, I'd love a new MVM campaign, just so I could finally grab one of those Uranium or Mirror botkillers that're hidden in the files.

I just hope somebody to glitch it to work with swords, impaling demo's hand.

I'd honestly rather them come out with some sort of rebalancing every bugfix update, every week, so that we aren't overwhelmed with changes like with Tough Break and Gun Mettle
I'd like the TF2 team to write a blog post about why they rebalanced certain weapons. A lot of them make sense, but some of them are inexplicable to me.

It wouldn't sound all too big in pub play, but i am guessing it would be something pretty alright in a competitive scene.
Wouldn't the claid - looking at the charge-distance-crit changes - if it'd kept the extra charge distance be worse? The amount needed to output actual damage as a demoknight would be pretty high, making it kinda bad. Even though the current version is far from good. ...Is this a decent guess at why they'd have changed it?
Five damage is still five damage, man. It wouldn't sound all too big in pub play, but i am guessing it would be something pretty alright in a competitive scene.
Ah competitive play, the only place where the Elf's Booties are banned.
Five damage is still five damage, man. No scout worth their salt uses anything other than the Atomizer or Boston Basher specifically because the passive benefits they offer are so incredible. Scout doesn't need his melee to do damage -- ranged or otherwise-- because that's what his guns are for. The pistol outdamages the wrap assassin's piddly extra 5 damage by a minimum of 60% with a potential to get as high as 440%, has instant travel time, has 12 shots loaded, reloads quickly, and doesn't act as a compensation for missing. The bauble itself deals 69 damage over the course of 10 seconds, but again, the Pistol still outclasses that and does it faster. If anything, the Wrap Assassin shattering on contact is a nerf, because it means you cannot retrieve the bauble to smack it again and again at people if you miss.
you can attack with both the bauble and pistol at once. Damage is sped up as a result. You are right though, damage isn't really a big factor in the scout's melee.
Five damage is still five damage, man. Every primary weapon I can think of all use a very distinct firing sound, with the exception of the flamethrower/backburner/degreaser. If unlocks all had weapon skins, I don't think that would affect combat as much we think it would.

Even if the crit capabilities were nerfed I wouldn't mind because I used the Claid in a Demoknight/Demoman hybrid loadout so I didn't rely on it's damage output.
Ah competitive play, the only place where the Elf's Booties are banned.
But why? It doesn't give you any advantages at all.

Most players also except weapon rebalancing in major updates.

A well placed ball on a medic or power class can almost singlehandedly turn the tide of a push, or save your ass in a bad situation, and just generally fuck with irritable players, which is always fun
