You're right, the Panic Attack is still a bad weapon in the game. But it would've been better if Valve just removes the Hold fire to load up to 4 shells and replace it by shooting like any shotguns. You know just click to shoot instead of click to load up 4 shells? That would've been a decent weapon.
what if they took the current panic attack and just made it into a straight-up beggar's bashotgun get rid of the unreliable health-based fire rate bonus and accuracy penalty gimmicks, and just have a straight +50% or so faster firing speed instead if that's too good they could always cut back on the reload or deploy speed to compensate for it
This applies to the rocket jumper too, I really want them to lower the downsides on the troll jumper so I dont see trolldiers as just wasted player slots.
I think it'd be neat if rocket jumper removed fall damage and/or had a higher clip.
Something I didn't see noticed, they updated the art section again on the blog - Adding the Tough Break renders, and postcard artwork.
I thought Badlands was behind Ms. Pauling in the menu background but it turns out it's just bits and pieces of Badlands layered over each other
We released the moon map i was talking about earlier in this thread. The one that we started doing with the rd_asteroid theme, since Valve seems to be unable to release it and people really got interested in moon theme once i teased them with few images and asked around. Suggestions & feedback welcome. Here's few shots, more on workshop. Thanks. Kind of off topic question. Do you guys reckon the family business should be usable by all shotgun classes?
Kind of off topic question. Do you guys reckon the family business should be usable by all shotgun classes?
I don't see why not, really. It's very similar to the stock Shotgun in purpose and performance and not particularly tailored to the Heavy class at all, so there's no balance or goes-against-the-class-design objections I can think of to not allow the other Shotgun classes to use it. In fact, Heavy's actually the class that needs a shotgun secondary the least, and Engineers, Pyros or Soldiers could probably benefit from it more then the big guy. At the least, I'd like to see it on Engie or Pyro. Soldier has more than enough toys to play around with at this point. Probably unlikely that Valve would do this though, it's been 4 and 1/2 years and they haven't done it even back when they were keen on adding more and more weapons to the game.
gun mettle update i think
Yeah, it was the cover art to the Gun Mettle comic.

I love the work that was put into it and the visual style is amazing. But now it seems like they've canned it, or at least waiting for a properly themed update and everything for it is done [t]https://facepunch.com/fp/ratings/rainbow.png[/t] I hope they bring it back eventually, it has a lot of potential.
Kind of off topic question. Do you guys reckon the family business should be usable by all shotgun classes?
I dunno. I'd like to see it in action but IMO the FB would be too good on the other classes. Keep in mind that the Family Business has to compete with the Sandvich, which is why it has a bigger clip and firing speed for a semi-small damage penalty. On Pyro, Soldier, and Engie, the Shotgun is actually a legit option so giving them the Family Business could lead to a power creep in those classes.
The only problem I see is soldier using a gun with a hammer and sickle on it.
The only problem I see is soldier using a gun with a hammer and sickle on it.
Heavy is even less likely to use soviet hardware, but what the heck, it's cool.
The only problem I see is soldier using a gun with a hammer and sickle on it.
Made entirely moot because he can equip a shotgun skin that has a red star which is used to symbolize communism.
Can't wait for Valve to make a comic that explains why Soldier is using a shotgun with a symbol of communism on it. Along with his hilarious muh america humor.
To symbolize that he shoved his American boot all the way up the ass of communism and did a distribution of wealth from them commies to the good superpower. His Soviet gun is a trophy from his days of proving Americans were superior by single-handedly beating the crap out of Russians, taking their belongings and urinating in their toilets and public areas to mark the territory as FREED FROM COMMUNISM. Then he remembered that he had no passport and that manslaughter was illegal, so he left on his own terms, even though they called it deportation.

Half-Zatoichi, stahlhelm, red star shotty, etc.
Holy shit it just hit me - Red Bear is painted like soviet fighter planes! Man I'm such a dense motherfucker.
This is 5gorge, right?
looks like coldfront's second and fourth CPs.
looks like coldfront's second and fourth CPs.
It's definitely 5gorge, in particular the last point on blu's side. [T]http://i.imgur.com/NZ9F9a2.jpg[/T] Coldfront's 2nd and 4th points have tiretracks on them and a dirt floor, not concrete, and has a support beam attached to one side of the point.
wow I got SCHOOLED in TF2 maps. my mistake. :x
Would've been amazing for Valve to tease a new map through this, rip.

Could tf2 really achieve esports status with big tournaments and big increase in playerbase?
Could tf2 really achieve esports status with big tournaments and big increase in playerbase?
sure
Could tf2 really achieve esports status with big tournaments and big increase in playerbase?
For the most part: 1. The rules are understandable. 2. The visuals are stylish to the eye. 3. The players are distinct due to loadouts. 4. The symmetrical maps are balanced. 5. It's free and can potentially run on a potato with the right config. Lots potential spectators can start to play and swell up the player base. 6. The company making it has experience with running huge tournaments. The one problem that I see is that the action is (mostly) viewed from the first person perspective. That seems to be something of downside. While tournaments such as CS and Halo can be huge, they don't seem to ever reach the same levels of top down games, such as Starcraft or Mobas.

There's a lot of people who think TF2 went into the dumpster around about the Scout/Heavy update, when they started putting in more and more weapons. There's also a lot of people who can't look past the Hat Simulator-ness. I'm not saying they're justified, of course, but... well, anytime there's a news post about TF2 in the News Node, or any other site, and you can generally get a gist of public opinion on TF2.
