So basically what I think Valve should do is observe how their shit is actually being used and recognize which weapons require what kind of treatment.
Wish they'd just make a bunch of pubs that record during a match for Valve to look through the recording.
Like a public weapons test per-se, to see how generally a certain weapon is used in varied situations.
As it is obvious by now that Valve doesn't play their own damn game to test these weapons in a casual environment.
The 'fun' factor of a weapon and the 'skill' factor of a weapon needs to be in unison, otherwise the weapon will be unused in almost every situation, except from joke loadouts.

Better yet, everyone that works on the game also dedicate a certain number of hours a week just playing the game. As star_ said in that video, it's just not possible for valve to make the changes they're making unless they spend zero time playing in an actual environment outside of QA.

This explains how they designed the Pyro
This also explains a tactic where you shoot your flames at your friendly medics head so that the enemy snipers cant see it
Pyro was designed to be not very good in open areas because he only has a shotgun (if you use the flare gun, still not very good unless they're already on fire), and the shotgun is medium range
He's the best short range combat class (remember valve buffed the flamethrower damage in the tough break update)
Pyro is a very good class if you listen to the stuff they were saying
---------------------
pyro:
Pros:
very lethal at close range
very good in maps where you can flank easily (gravelpit, junction)
very good at delaying enemy ubers
Cons:
she's as vulnerable as a medic in open areas alone
his flamethrower is the most effective item when using stock weapons, shotgun is not very good (i could be wrong i havent played tf2 in a while)
---------------------
that's about it
I may be wrong on some things because I haven't played TF2 in a while
This does not look at unlocks or anything, it just accounts for the stock default TF2 pyro loadout
You mean, like Halloween update? :speechless:
I think with the time allotted, of less than a month, the halloween that the community pulled up into place was rather good along with the Valve content. True, there were less items and hats but hey atleast it wasn't disaster.
The problem with the phlog is that sure a smart player can counter it, but the stupid players on his team will continue to feed the phlog meter and it will continue to get kills despite all the effort in the world put in by the 2-3 good players on a pub server team.

Technically, I think Heavy still does more damage at close range, even after all the buffs to Pyro. He'll also last longer; he just lacks mobility (which Pyro is only mediocre with anyways). Scout can also kill most enemies faster than a Pyro at close range, and has long range and retreating options that make him less vulnerable.
Also, stickybomb launcher is definitely the most effective stock weapon, seeing as it's got both utility and heavy damage. Flamethrower is alright, but being completely ineffective past close range limits its usefulness. The shotgun is good too, and can make up for the flamethrower's hard range limit, but you have to switch to it and it still can't do long range (flare guns, on the other hand, are good at any range, but they're either the Flare Gun/Detonator which are harder to hit with than the shotgun and less damaging, or the Scorch Shot which is a LOT less damaging).
Pyro's always been in this weird place where no one is quite sure what she does. He's the master of close range...except both Scout and Heavy can do that too in their own specialized ways, and they're much better at it. He's the tankiest fast class, or the fastest tanky class, but he doesn't have either enough speed to outrun incoming fire, or enough health to out-tank it. He's an ambush assassin class, except that Spy has better mobility in the form of methods to sneak through enemy lines and better tools to kill enemies before they can react. Pyro just got stuck in this weird pit of role-less mediocrity, which eventually got turned into some weird jack of all trades, master of none situation through unlocks and airblast.

By most effective stock weapon, I meant the most effective stock weapon for pyro. The shotgun and the axe aren't very good compared to it for pyro

Oh. I'd say Degreaser and Flamethrower are on even ground right now, with the Backburner (my baby) a teensy bit behind and the Phlog a little behind that.
Also you're right that the axe is pointless and worse than every other Pyro melee, but the shotgun is godlike. Even if you're good at aiming with projectiles, none of the flare guns are quite as good at dealing damage, and losing those 3 shots with the Reserve Shooter (or effectively all your shots with the Panic Attack) hurts bad when you're in a panic.
Someone who has good luck with their emails being answered should email the team that the Heavy can't use his Pow with the Frying Pan, they never answer my emails about it.
I think that they accidently removed the Cleaner's Carbine's taunt. I tried taunting with it the other day and nothing.
Update inbound.
We're working on a mandatory update for TF2. We should have it ready soon.

Patch notes:
Fixed a client crash related to multicore rendering
Fixed the material for the Golden Wrench
Updated the model/materials for the Arthropod's Aspect and the Crusader's Getup
Updated the localization files
You know, I was reading on the TFWiki that the devs had been talking about how to work the destroyed golden wrenches back into the game. But I'm probably reading into things that don't exist.
Fixed the material for the Golden Wrench
Does this mean that the Golden Wrench isn't butt-ugly anymore?

the update no one ever expected, and no one ever asked for

they fixed it only because somebody got fed up and shoved it in their face. not because there's some well thought out upcoming event.

A boy can dream, can't she?
These are the updates I made to the items:
Somewhat related to loadouts: would you guys be interested in an update to the Crusader's Getup that allows the belt and pouch to be paintable along with the yellow portions of the suit? Original is on the left, updated version is on the right.

I'm also submitting an update to the mask with reduced clipping.
Does this mean that the Golden Wrench isn't butt-ugly anymore?
They fixed the new problem where the texture didn't wrap correctly onto the wrench model after they updated it for skins, but it's still just as ugly as it was before. It's still blinding bright yellow if HDR is on and barely any different from stock if HDR is off.

Is it me or are TF2s servers fucked?

Valve Virginia, Washington, and LA servers are fine for me. What server(s) are you trying to connect to?

idk may just be me, i clicked random only 5 server showed up, and it didnt connect to them.
Valve also patched out the ability to activate the Phlog taunt with your taunt key, which allowed you to circumvent the delay knockback would sometimes cause, preventing you from taunting as soon as you touch the ground.
Stamps on the Scoreboard are enlarged now.

I was about to point this out too. I mean, a developer was already in the exact place to fix that typo, you'd think they might as well fix it.
But nope.
As of earlier this week it was still the case, but does the ubersaw still force you to taunt when you right click? It's been that way since they added that option to the amputator.

It appears to still be happening for me.
