Like how does an Ascot relate to fingerless gloves and wintery boots?
Well, I liked the colour of these gloves more than the defaults, the Paisley because it's a simple yet ok alteration of his shirt(And I don't really like any of the other shirts, they're too "college-y" and stylish) and the boots because.. well I like boots. Didn't really think of them as "wintery boots", just boots.
It's a simple alteration from default Scout, and the items removes the white socks and gloves, giving him a slightly darker colour palette. And they match his hat.
I do like the look of the Thermal Tracker painted Team Spirit, though. But paints are expensive.
Even so you don't wear an ascot with boots, it'd look more well put together if you just had the ascot's loadout slot empty, or stuck some subtle hat in there
I recommend Sign of Wolf's School, subtle but would look good for the minimalist set you're aiming to hit

I have almost the same loadout, with mine being gloveless (only 2 cosmetics).
I get the appeal behind this, to me it looks like some sort of suave adventurer: the boots provide an "explorer" look (I know the Bootenkhamuns achieve this better, but they came out after the Brooklyn Booties, plus I don't really like his default shoes), while the ascot gives the scout a more classy look.
That and I like the fact that it doesn't drastically change the scouts original look.
But I guess it's a matter of taste and character interpretation.

Anyways, anybody got any recommendations for paints that look good with purple or green unusual effects (Jr. Ghosts, Fetti, Energy, Power Surge/Memory leak, Searing Plasma)? I'm getting a job soon because I'm still in school, and besides getting a new GFX card for my rig, I'm planning on buying a mid-tier unusual for every class with one of either set of effects (right now leaning towards the purple effects).

As you can tell, the purple paint doesn't really go with the colour of the effect. One of the reasons why I want a good complimentary paint colour (that isn't Black, White, or any team colour) for the sets, maybe a colour with one or two different variations 'cause I'm gonna only use them. I remember a while back doing some research on the subject (just for Fetti 'cause I was only getting one unusual) and found that Mint looked good with purple and Colour. No. 219-160-219 (the light pink paint) with green, but I'm not sure now.

Go with the jester shoes if you want a cohesive colour palette look, otherwise there isn't really a clear loadout you're going for, best I'd recommend is the all-class winter boots because the set has kind of a winter-y look to it

I reccomend replacing scout's gloves with the tomb raider gun holsters, teddy with an engie beard of choice (I'd say Scotch Saver personally) and the procedure mask with either Gatier Guards or one of the satchels
