Why do we even need grenades? They're not even all that interesting, and there are so many more important and interesting things that can be added.

TFC grenades are the throwable equivalent of TF2 Rocket and Sticky bomb jumping.
And there were 4 grenades max in the slot, which is primary and secondary. EACH.
Obviously the copy paste of TFC is bad, which is why Valve removed throwable grenades from TF2.
I have a idea that with some tweaking, one of them being that there is only a single grenade slot and it has unlocks, the other that the number of grenades you carry is directly related to the type of it, so frag grenades and class variants(and yes all classes, even the Scout) would be two max.
It would include the combo of the TFC and TF2 Beta grenades for the slot, and soem of the Workshop items.
The power vs capacity thing and single slot (basically, new item slot for grenade types and the throwables and consumables, bla bla bla, the utility items of TF2) would be my idea for implementing the throwable grenades into TF2.
And this also applies in Deathmatch mode.
one for the primary, one for the secondary one for melee, one for grenades(which are frag grenades and you can carry 2 max).
Does this clear up the idea I have for TF2 with throwable grenades?

Honestly. I prefer download the custom items_game.txt from the server so people can add whatever to their server.

If there was a way to balance grenades or any of the beta weapons in a reasonable manner that was fun to play and to play against, I'm sure they would be in retail TF2.
Thing is, they aren't. I am positive Valve tested them in many ways and they just did not work. They simply have no place within the game no matter how you try to change them
I can think of one viable way grenades could be included:
They're either utilities that replace secondary slot (in the vein of Jarate, Mad Milk, and the Heal Grenade) or they're on the Demoman(ala Grenade Launcher and Stickybombs).
Otherwise, they're just completely unfitting.
I can post my idea if you want to see how I handled it.

the devs said they DO NOT want nades in the base game.
The whole grenade thing could be solved with a option for with and without grenades, like how there is a option for no random crits.

That would take a shit load of effort disassembling TF2 and turning it into compilable code. In other words, that won't happen unless another TF2 source code leak is discovered or Valve themselves release it.

This would be unlikely as all hell, but are there any Source games that are opensource with A.I or be able to ask any indie devs for just the A.I? It is a shot in the dark.

But it still needs to be balanced for normal play, so that it doesn't outclass the shotgun.

Its already slow reload/firing speed + short range would probably make it a pretty good secondary for the Heavy.

Civilian's animations are going through a huge overhaul, these are just some WIPs.
All of his animations should be ready when the next update comes around, so no more t-posing.
Also, I edited the stickybomb launcher's animations to be two handed since it was bugging me.

Overpowered temporary character! Pissed Civilian wrecking the mercenaries sounds hilarious. Also, I love the bowler hat for him. (I don't think that is the right name for the hat)

A utility item button would be great imo, especially if it gave Soldier a Mighty Kick as an option. Throwable items that aren't just explosions that deal damage would be neat too. A spy throwable that spawns a visual decoy (looks like a blinked spy if someone runs into it, randomly has disguise smoke etc) for instance, or a passive ability for a class so they can pick up a weapon/health/ammo, store it and throw it out later.

I made a thread on SPUF concerning the stock items for the Utility Slot, considering that throwable grenades are not allowed.
To explain it a bit, the obvious stock for the Utility items, which are grenades, are jeered and booed at so what other stock could be for the Utility items. That was the point of my SPUF thread.
Scout in TF2 beta had a backpack thing that would be used for storing pickups for later use, so this could be the stock Utility item.
The thing about throwable items is that grenades are the obvious stock, but if the grenades are no9t allowed(even if there is a grenades on and grenades off option), then you are really stumped on what to give to the classes as a stock item, that is not grenades.
I mean I suggested for the Spy pocket pistols and revolvers as stock Utility items.
Not a utility items button a utility item slot, meaning you switch to the utility item and then use it.
But yes good ideas. Teh Spy decoy stuff.
Just so you guys know for the grenades, not only you can only have one type and variable amount, but you do not have a quickthrow button. Instead you have to switch to the slot to use them.

Let's say that TF2 is a new game and they asked the community to give feedback. This grenade suggestion would be my feedback. Actually from a "it is a new game" standpoint, would my idea for grenades work. At least answer me that.
