So the team that already had a lack of programmers now closed source so they'll have an even bigger lack of programmers? Because unless things changed, it's still 95% artists to 5% programmers.

There were no benefits from being open source; you'd think it would attract more programmers but it really didn't (I'm an exception). Besides, we have 3 active programmers right now and that has been sufficient.
There were no benefits from having public source code lately, only issues. Like some people blatantly re-using our code for their own projects without even asking for permission.
Wait, isn't a lot of the existing code re-purposed from the 2007 TF2 leak without permission, though? I don't get it.
There were no benefits from having public source code lately
But it was cool to mod a mod...
did you leave the team? I remember you being part of that 5%
Speaking of which, where is the team? Iiboharz recently left, and now I'm wondering what happened to the entire team? Did 50% of u guys leave? Where's the old guys like Blaholtzen, Maxxy, Zoebot, what happened to all these people? EDIT: I hope I didn't silence the group by what I just said...
Hey, I've almost finished the light merc model : [t]http://image.noelshack.com/fichiers/2016/48/1480468265-light.png[/t] And a 3D view So is there anything that needs improvements ? Also does anyone know how I could make the packs under his arms work ? I can't find a place to put it without making it weird looking.
I'm not a 3D modeller but I have to ask, why isn't the upper and lower body connected? Also, will this be on the SFM workshop?
Right now i'm using a symmetry tool to make sure everything is symmetrical, but because the belt is asymmetrical, I can't connect it to the other parts of the body. Also I'm working on differents layers for different bodyparts, and I can't connect stuff that isn't on the same layer. Edit : And it's going to be on the workshop, don't worry (if I ever manage to texture and rig it properly)
This is the first time poking my head into the thread here and I was curious, is the Hunted gamemode finished? Only reason I ask is because I could almost see it being incorporated into TF2 both fundamentally, once all the kinks are worked, and canonically too. I could go into specifics with the canon if anyone is really interested, but I know this isn't really the thread for it. Also, just curious, but is there a set list of voicelines for the scientist? I want to try to throw my hat into the voice acting business, and after the 25th, I'll be getting a new microphone that hopefully should be of sufficient quality.
There were no benefits from having public source code lately, only issues. Like some people blatantly re-using our code for their own projects without even asking for permission.
Considering much of the unique/non-SDK 2013 code in this project is either stolen/blatantly re-used from the 2007 engine leak (source code that I doubt anyone here ever got the license for) or reverse engineered from live TF2 binaries (which violates the Steam Subscriber Agreement, unless you have Valve's written consent), plus all of the code people have contributed before the source went private, what would you define as "your code" that everyone needs permission for? I needn't even mention all of the TF2 assets (models, textures, maps, etc.) that have been straight up copy-pasted from TF2's depots and are being re-used and redistributed without any written permission that I know of. Even though TF2 is 'free', you still need a Steam account and agree to Valve's terms to access the content, which this project circumvents by using third party downloads. This is what sets TF2Classic apart from other mods like Fortress Forever and Fistful of Frags which have actually gone on to become official games on Steam, and why TF2Classic will never mature out of being a programmer's experiment with things they didn't make.

No need to hammer it in. There were still other reasons for going closed source, though.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Oy5_ft0kYBU I thought you guys might be interested in this, seeing the scientist, civilian, and mercenary oh and by the way, how's Danielmm? Last time i heard, he wasn't feeling well (you know what i mean, right?)
That isn't the scientist, it's just the medic wearing the cosmetic set from the workshop that's based on the scientists from half-life, to my knowledge the scientist's model hasn't been released yet but has been shown off in this thread a dozen ot two pages back, but was unfinished. Is espionage even being worked on for tf2c any more?
