At this point in time we have no plans of relaunching the beta.
I'm (blindingly) hoping this means we get a new version soon; now that we have a (practical) workaround for the server browser I'd really like to see some activity in this mod once again.
I have a question about one thing, what happened to the Boss mode? The UberMIB as I call it.
Hello TF2C Fans,

Until Valve ships an update to the Source SDK 2013 Multiplayer Base to fix the bad_version error, we will not be able to ship any updates for Team Fortress 2 Classic.

Switching to the 'beta_test' branch and doing this does in fact work. Server owners have to do the same thing.
At this point in time we have no plans of relaunching the beta.
"We can't re-release the mod until this bug has been fixed."
"Oh, a proper fix was found? Uhh-uhhhhh... we... uhh... still can't re-release it... because of... um... stuff. Yeah."

We've never had any intentions of releasing an update to the beta itself. We've only had intentions to release a major new version, which would be the final version of 2.0.

he's talking about the beta
It's probably still worth an as-is hotfix, partly because all the especially egregious issues (like it giving your computer cancer) have been paved over, and because if the lead-up to the beta was any indication we're not going to hear or see shit about 2.0 development until it comes out shortly after TF3's release.
I dunno about you guys, but I like hearing stories from the sausage factory about bending Source to your whim, and the whole bit where you guys locked down the Trello and generally shut up tighter than a politician's purse was very disappointing.
I don't see why we can't just do that for now, if people stop playing the mod it might die, and I don't think valve will be fixing it anytime soon, so for now its a good alternative, better then nothing, right?
I'm sorry, but we don't have anything to show. Honestly we don't even have anybody that's willing to create media releases. People are too busy with other things to care about this mod.
We don't have anything to keep the developers motivated to keep working on the mod. We have a group of ~10 people who love working on this, however the others just don't see any incentive to do anything at all, as in their eyes they simply don't get anything out of this.

What do you exactly mean with "media"

screenshots, trailers, etc...

Did the framefactory stop making the deatmatch trailer?

We don't have anything to keep the developers motivated to keep working on the mod.
Well, there's your problem. People hang around this thread to check out WIP screenshots and such, and the people behind those WIPs get feedback that has inspired them to make things better and cooler. The problem is, very few of those people are actually associated with the project itself - they're just people making cool stuff in anticipation for it being played once a release comes. And the more the actual project is behind a wall of silence, the less people will care, which means less feedback and reactions, which means there's no enthusiasm for developers to feed off of, which means the odds of everyone burning out and quitting increase dramatically.
By releasing a few off-hand bits of media of things you're working on - a quickly FRAPSed webm of a first go at a new weapon here, a screenshot of an amusing bug you squashed there... - you guys can get feedback (and motivation to press forward) without losing too much time to The PR Machine. We're not asking for ultra-polished bullshots here - just a quick peek into what's going on every now and then. :)

I personally just feel discouraged with this project, and the main reason why is that we need to get in contact with Valve, yet they've been ignoring anybody associated with the project. That server list fix is a perfect example. We've been trying to contact them for months about this, yet it wasn't until a few weeks ago when some random person conpletely not associated with this project commented on it that they actually decided to look into it.
We've also had some other big plans for tf2c, but most of those things aren't accomplishable without us being in contact with Valve.
I know this is a stupid outlook to have, but I feel like nothing we do actually matters until they acknowledge us or even our existance.
Regarding the media release, 1/4 has for quite some time been suggesting that we do small media releases, however it wasn't until a few minutes ago that I actually gave him permission to post about those things. He said he's cooking something up so expect a post by him soon.
Regarding the beta hotfix. A lot of the people on the team (including 1/4l agree that releasing a hotfix for the beta so that people can actually play it again is a very good idea. In all honesty it's just me who is against it, but considering I'm in the minority (despite being the project lead) we most likely will release a hotfix very soon, although the final 2.0 release still isn't ready yet.
Goddamnit don't let this project die
I would pay to play it
I know this is a stupid outlook to have, but I feel like nothing we do actually matters until they acknowledge us or even our existance.
They already did that, though, when Wassisface tried to dob you guys in for using leaked code. That's probably the best you can ask for in the short term until the project develops further and its ideas and popularity propagate beyond this thread.
...but what do I know about Valve's reactions to leaked stuff? Missing Info got greenlit about a month back. Everything is weird nowadays.
Soo..., only wait for now?

Same, this is like a safe haven for veteran TF2 players who had enough of bad stuff happening at the current one. I don't want this project to die.

Yesterday i played with my friend for 2 hours deathmath, this is a really good mod, i hope we don let it die
Same, this is like a safe haven for veteran TF2 players who had enough of bad stuff happening at the current one.
I'm perfectly fine with the current TF2 and I've been playing since it came out. I just enjoy weird mutations and alterations, especially ones with lots of high-quality content to play around with.

If you are fine with the actual Tf2, why are you here? XD
Woah, actual action happening in the mod? Damn, wish I had cooked up something new since the last thing I posted.....

So... The mods dead?!
So... The mods dead?!
Considering the project leader made an earlier post on how a majority of the devs wanted a hotfix, we could be seeing quite the opposite.
So... The mods dead?!
where did they imply that the mod was dead, exactly?
it works the vault f4 servers are updated and can be seen on the server browser

Yeah, I've talked to VintagePC (The owner of VaultF4) and I gave him the fix. It seems to be working just fine.
Basically the fix consists of setting your Source 2013 MP Base branch to 'beta_test' and then putting this file into your tf2classic folder.

I already say that -.-
Give me credit
[editline]14th November 2015[/editline]
Soo the downloads link of the mod are up?
I placed the steam.inf file to the main tf2classic folder but the servers from the server list aren't showing up. Help?
My Source 2013 MP branch is setted on beta_test, by the way.

Actually that fix is from the Master Server issue on the Source 2013 github repo. We've had that fix since Monday on our dev server.
But still, thanks.
