tf2 has godrays in the form of objects as opposed to calculated lights. not much of a point to have it any other way imo
as a mapper i, for one, would like more godray props of a multitude of colors, shapes and sizes.

Probably some sort of tweakable entity that can cast them? Sort of like the lights in SFM, almost.

there are light beams like that, just not as expensive as sfm ones because they're not affected by shadow/solid objects, and they don't produce light alone too. you can see them in-game attached to lights/ceiling lights, etc. they're hard to work with when it comes to the intent of something like godrays though. they don't quite work the same way.

From what I last heard, yes. They just haven't finished the cosmetic system/models yet.

Just started playing this today, once I found a non-empty server and it looks p fun, even though I suck at tf2. The main annoyance is all the micspammers. Can't you implement a button on the main menu that lets you mute players client-side? Like the Player List button in Counter-Strike: Source.

The cosmetics I believe will only be for the mercenary, and will be unlocked from the get-go. (edit: correct me if i'm wrong)
As for the state of the mod since the exploit attack, people seem to be playing it more, but I'm not sure about the actual development
If you do add in a cosmetic system it should to be the ability to remove things like the scouts backpack,hat, or hand wraps or the soldiers helmet/grenades or maybe even changing the spy's texture to look like the beta spy. Small stuff like that and not brand new models the hurt the games performance.
I think the merc bodygroups were simply put in place for the wound system. Not sure if their plans have evolved

Work into economy/wearables has already been put into the code.

i think the ability to swap out a bunch of cosmetic gear on the merc from the start would be pretty cool. as long as it fits, obviously.
merc is dm only, right? in which case you can probably give him any of the class's default hats to wear. soldier's helmet, engie's hardhat, sniper's hat, scout's headset, pyro's gas mask. if not, anything fitting for a merc would be nice, like non-pyro gas mask or ze goggles (to wear on the eyes preferably).

Please don't add cosmetics
Been a while since i was on the team, but last i heard of it, there was no intentions of cosmetics of any type outside of a "Deathmatch Merc's randomized bodygroup system, that might possibly become select-able but not very likely" so unless plans have changed in the time since then, you probably wont have to worry about cosmetics ruining your TF2C.

It's been in the code for two months now. The VPC was also updated with the new econ files. I have no idea if it's still being worked on however.
To make this clear, the Econ stuff we have does not mean we are adding cosmetics. It is merely a porting of the attribute system of live TF2 and allows for weapon attributes and similar.
Zombies.
I know it's generic and boring but it might work well with DM mercs since they have each of their own colours and now that we have Deathmatch mode, its mechanics might just make this more interesting than any other zombie mode from the other games.

If we ever did get a survival mode, I think it be more better if it was like "Left for Dead" style survival than a mvm thing.
Note just a suggestion if this mode was being looked into.

This is planned, except with a big dude called the Henchman. Though, alternate bosses would be neat.
Also, on the alternate player models/colour schemes thing, that would mess with silhouettes and class recognition even more than cosmetics. Don't do that.
