I decided if I was going to give two shits about medals, it should be a number that has some relevance to me.

You can make fun of me as much as you want, but I have and always will love Halo. It's a solid shooter, it's fun, with decent length campaigns, good replayabilty value, and a fun multiplayer that complements things well.
Yes, the playerbase might be all annoying 12 year olds. But just hit mute. I've had more fun with Halo : Reach in 2 matches than I ever did with COD Black Ops. I prefer Halo in every way. Not trying to be some realistic war shooter, just colourful, alien shooting.
