No hat mod exploits a part of the engine where no model is rendered if the vertex data files are empty. It won't and never will be possible for oldschool pack to bypass sv_pure in this way.
You can thank Valve for turning off mods on their servers and making Valve servers default in quickplay. Also the exploit makers.
But really it's just Valve's fault for not properly fixing $ignorez which allowed exploits in the first place.

Appreciate it iceboot, I was going to ask you about that after I got off work today.
I do want to go on record, that there was once a way to bypass pure in CS:S by matching/fixing error codes in the qc/console, in tf2 that is no longer a viable way of properly fixing pure, you can fix vissual bugs, mostly related to particles, but not the models themselves being incompatible with pure
But really it's just Valve's fault for not properly fixing $ignorez which allowed exploits in the first place.
You make it sound like an easy fix, is this really the only problem? If it's true, then someone who knows more about this stuff should probably send them an email explaining what needs to be done in order to safely allow sv_pure again.
I just want my mods back :(
Tbh, i have no idea how the no hats mod is working in pure, id have to talk to the creator/maintainer of that mod to know for sure, but it might have to deal with custom vmt's/vtfs, considering, some dipshit on gamebanana released a "wallhack" mod by only editing vmt's, [sp]the whole reason valve servers are pure in the first place[/sp] if thats the case, then theres no way in hell it would work in pure
And just asking, I've heard some people using this they got low fps, i uninstalled this mod a while back but does it actually increase fps cuz this thread has (performance pack) in it. Just askin'

At the creation of this thread, we were getting reports of double framerate increases, due to the steampipe update [sp]going from the gcf filesystem to the vpk filesystem[/sp] it either has a barely noticiable increase in performance, or a decrease if console error spam is present, so the thread title is essentially a relic of what was once a booming time for the oldschool pack
[Sp]And yes i have tried to get mods to change the title so i can stop getting this question[/sp]
Now as far as people working on this pack. How many are there in the modelling category. Because If there is a need of more to help. I'd like to volunteer if needed to model things.

I am currently the only one working on this pack, i have recieved many requests of more modelers, but what usually happens is a modeler will either strip down the default models, or start from scratch (as i do) but only make one model of a weapon they like, then i usually dont hear from them again, (some of that is my fault aswell, considering my on time for the pack is sporadic) that being said, after i get these bugs fixed, i plan on doing a weapon every day, or part of one, untill they are finished, after which i will release, and considering there arent that many weapons left, id rather take those on myself unless someone in the pach alreday asks to take some on

Valve "fixed" $ignorez by ignoring it on models, but if you use mat_reloadallmaterials in console $ignorez takes effect again. That's why most xray mods tell you to use that command before joining a server.
I could email them, though I only have a basic understanding of this. At best, they would probably fix the thing and still not update their server configs to remove sv_pure. Especially with competitive matchmaking around the corner.

Yeah, i heard somewhere they want a more "standerdized" tf2 when comp comes out, cause streaming. so model changes are a no go, but hud changes are fine apperently, though it would be nice if they fixed $ignorerez, and only enforced pure on comp servers... one can dream rivht?
Well... fuck, funke just posted a vid using the oldschool pack, in its current state of disrepair... should i hurry fix it and try to contact him?
just curious, could you rehost the old low poly fempyro if you still have it? i went back into the thread a bit and its not hosted anymore

not sure if it still works tbh
Apologies for sounding stupid, but will this work on Valve Servers?
I might post machina if i dont get lazy. You can reply to me if you want it once its done
I tried installing the mod, but as soon as I load up a server, Tf2 crashes on me. I have no idea on what I'm supposed to do.
Here is what I'm doing to try install the mod.
1. Download the mod
2. Go to Program Files (x86)/Steam/SteamApps/common/Team Fortress 2/tf/custom
3. copy and paste the vpk. files into the custom folder
Is it possible that the mod is conflicting with my HUD? I am using medHUD

Thanks for a decent follow through on ur install process, its possible you are trying to enter a server with sv_pure on, in my experience if pure 1 doesnt crash the game then default things wont load properly, pure 2 crashes the game, all valve servers afaik are pure 1. have you tried creating a server?

I have not tried creating a server yet, but I will right now.
Edit: Hey, it works! Do you know of any servers that are usually populated that don't have sv_pure on?

no, not really, when i test i usually just bring up the oold sever browser and in the tags i switch the box to "Do not include" and enter the tag "valve" and pick whichever one looks like it doesnt have any game changing mods on it
[sp]oh, and everyone speaking of tests, look very closely at my reply to VodkaCorn[/sp]
hey, i'm new here. one question:
The Download Links are confusing for me, what one i should pick, the latest download button (at page 20?) or the main one at page 1?
Is this still updated?
Or if not, are there people who continue the project in a different place?
I hope that the tough break update didn't mess up anything with the new switch speed and new skins. I look forward to this being updated, and keep up the good work.
HEY. can you give me the latest version of this mod? And when i click the download button it doesn't do anything. also can you explain how to downlod this. Sorry if this is too much to ask.
Seems like Loch-n-load animations are broken, as well as pistol and scattergun. Pretty buggy unfortunately

Looking into it, whenever I can, probably some missing code valve implemented recently, in the meantime check the "h"'s in post 853 and see if that helps, if not then let me know
-REDACTED-
Anyways, what would you guys think about me making some 8/16/32/64 bit remixes of TF2's music?
EDIT:
Fixed my own stupidity with the whole forgetting to add words to that sentence thing XD
Does this work with Linux?

Talked to the devs of gang garrison 2 and they said it was fine with them as long as we gave proper credits to those involved it's just not been implemented yet

I don't understand what you are trying to say with this reply...

That he plans on adding the GG2 menu music, which are all chiptunes of TF2 songs.
Insaneicide, is there any chance you'll port what works currently to SFM? Especially the playermodels with their flexes?
Sorry for the bump, but I just wanted to alert you guys that someone on Steam has uploaded the playermodels without crediting anyone to the SFM workshop.
He's rage deleting any comments pointing it out, just FYI
